Tom woke up one morning to strange noises in the air. He headed towards a window and opened his curtain, looking outside he noticed a lot of blood, screams of neighbors and men walking as if they were mentally compromised. He backed away from the window closing the curtain as he walked towards his guardians room. Opening the door he peered through seeing large amounts of clothes and equipment scattered all over the place, but no sign of Mr. Jones. Backing out and closing the door Tom walked down the stairs to the kitchen, seeing a piece of paper hanging on the refrigerator, he quickly went to it and peeled it off as it read:
Dear Tom,
I'm sorry I didn't wake you up when I left this morning, I was in quite a hurry, I've trained you to the best of my ability and now it's time for you to put that training to the test. A strange biological plague has broke out and I had to go and join in the towns defense, I may not make it back so you need to be prepared to survive on your own once again, I loved you as my own son, and it hurts to leave you like this, but I have to leave you. I hope that one day we may meet again, and I will defend this town keeping you in mind. I'll see you around Tom. Cheers!
Your Guardian, Mark Jones; Retired Delta Force Captain
Reading this Tom quickly ran and aquired his Assault Pack and filled it with rations. water, and a MedKit, both improvised and pre-packed. Going to the basement he grabbed his Bow, 80 pound drawstring, and a quiver that he placed on his lower back at a slight angle to hold the arrows in. Throwing his pack on he headed out the backdoor, creeping past the strange looking people and headed out of the Safe Haven, paying close attention to if there were any survivors.
