Welcome to Thesashuchur!

What... The hell does that mean? Thesashuchur is ratspeak for "Clan who scares enemies off". The name is something that it's alpha came up with after discovering the area.

Quote:
When the soft brown buck that came up first found the area, he overlooked it, and kept moving with a little band of rats that had managed to dig themselves out from the rubble of collapsed caves. Before long, the brown grew ill, and the rest of the pack's numbers had dwindled or been picked off, until the unusual pitch rodent stepped up.

Usoattaksim beat the rat into submission and bid his newfound followers fill their tummies on the beast that had led them to such crisis. While they did, he climbed a nearby shelf to get the lay of the land. He clacked his fangs: This place... This human place... How horrible it was that they were forced to wander nomadically here! How unfair! How-

usoattaksim barely dodged the sharp talons of a cockatiel landing from the rafters above. His followers below huddled while they were eyed by the other birds, fluffed and disgruntled, or fighting loose from their cages nearby. It was a short fight, though, Usoattaksim a young, eager buck who was more lithe in a leap than the bird was in a dive, or hover. The strange yellow beast was off, before long, and Usoattaksim had an idea. He turned his beady red eyes to where the bird had come from... Before the waters. That massive shelf of cages and dwelling, including that glass tank the canaries had once occuppied, now laced with a shattered hole in one of the lower corners where the flood had slammed a seed block into it: it was a wonder the cage was still in tact, really, let alone maintaining the semi-decent shape it did.

The hole was well-sized. The canaries had hopped out it, and now... The clan would climb into it!

Usoattaksim quickly led his rats to this shelf and found more sanctuary, and more trouble, than he could have expected. The shelving unit stood next to the dog kennels, and at the top, entertained untouched, single-bird cages that hung from their hooks evenly, dry and safe, and even laced with food. He quickly set his most agile upwards to claim the corpses, while he settled his pack into the canary tank. Their numbers were small, and it would take a LOT to rebuild anything, let alone the massive numbers they'd had.

But there was room here. There was space. There was safety, even from the birds, and there was food nearby. And beyond that, there were individual dwelling arrangements for families, and a nursery space. The top three shelves were occupied by such cages as often entertained cockatiels or parrots, some of the larger birds, with one gilded cage that looked dipped in gold built for a single canary; this was the scout tower, of course. The lock was even easy to work!

The cages on the shelves below that, however, had not been on hooks, but were more plentiful. Some stood tall, while several on the lower shelf, which was more sparse for it's contact with the flood than the one above it, had fallen to their sides, to create larger living spaces who's doors acted like drawbridges.

The rats taught themselves the simpler locks quickly, and let the more complex ones wait for others to learn them. The gilded cage was easy to learn, and perfect for a scout.

Now, it was simply for Usoattaksim to figure out... How to replenish his numbers with only the 8 that had survived, only 3 of whome were does: He would need new blood soon, and taking it from the wild colonies, while it might be easy, now... May not be wise in the long run.

Information:
The rats mentioned above were all included in the event in which this clan was founded. The original group, who weren't raffled off, included 3 bucks and 2 does.

Osatak, played by DarkHeartedSorrows
Ti'kkan, played by Ruhane Chiisai
Charon, played by The Anesthesia
Kezu, played by Parasitic Candii
Otak, played by Aurrie Beaues

Whether these rats retain the information and identities they claimed for the event is yet to be seen. 3 more of the clan, including the alpha, were released with the raffle, totalling a grand tally of 8. The two from the raffle were likely rescues or found while the exploration team was out and recruited into the tanks or brough from the tank to the cages or something. (We'll work that out later and I'll update this.)

I am always open for RP and I have some clan plots in mind, but I need to save up: I want to have some rats done to add to our numbers. 'till then, here's some basic information.

At the moment, Does are breeders and lookouts. Eventually, they will also cover the Allaysi role almost exclusively. In order to become a Keshu at all, they will have to best one of the marked, and those who fail will be marked with a scar over her haunch.

On the Gilded Cage: Only Favorites will be allowed to scout from this cage. And the Alpha's favorite will be allowed before any other, due to privelage. The lock on this cage is one that requires a little more strength to work, which means the occupant is safer here than in the other cages. There is a spot for water (That hangs rather conveniently when open just under a crack water seeps through) and one where a seedblock or patch of food can be stored, or used to draw bugs during long hours.

More on Does: Excepting a given rat's favorites (Even the alpha will respect others' favorites as long as they don't interfere with his own), Does will be shared among the bucks. Permission must be requested to breed with a shared, doe, though you are welcome to breed with your favorite any time health allows.

On 'Tamepelts': PM me if you want to submit one to the clan, I have something in the works turning cogs. (Yes, fancypants rats will be allowed in eventually. When you PM me, I'll provide a little more information so you can decide if you really want in. In this pack, domestic rats are called Op'chaj(Weak Bright Fur) or Tamepelts. They are considered breeding material or food, depending on the situation. However, in any face-to-face interaction with them, Op'chaj is considered by the clan an insult, and if not an encounter intending death, the rats of the colony will refer to them as Tamepelts. (Although looking down your whiskers when you say it is by no means forbidden. ^-^)
