The street corner was bare for years. The bar that stood there and it's inhabitants long gone. Some said fire took it out. Other talked about conspiracy and monsters. Few new what really happened. And they weren't going to speak a word. years later, out of the blue, a construction team showed up to clear out the vacant lot and build again. Months down the road the building took shape. Nearly a shadow of what stood there before. Complete with the small bar, now set slightly underground, hidden behind steps to the housing above. It was shiny and new. The bar stools still had that delicious new leather, straight off the cow's a**, smell. V smiled as she turned each seat with a lingering finger as she strolled to the front door. With a nostalgic flip of her wrist the sign now read...

With a wide smile she looked out the small window showing glimpses of the sidewalk at head height outside. V felt the warm arms of her lover wrap around her. Holding tight and gently.
Syn rested her small chin on the vampires cold shoulder and smiled with her. They knew it would take time to get everything back to normal. They also accepted that things where no going to be the same anymore. Many people where lost. Some would never find their way back.
There was still hope.
With a soft kiss to V's neck Syn retreated back to a small stool. One that now rests where she once sat. It was odd but had a small familiar comfort. V busted herself to the counter where she sat cross legged next to the cash register. It was easier this time. She had them build the counter six inches shorter. She lit up a cherry cigarillo and breathed deep the incense of cherry's filling her new bar. She had great hopes for this place, and a good feeling.

Rachel smiled gently as she walked downstairs, heading to work as a bartender. She turned her headphones up and bounced, nearly rolling down the last three steps. At the bottom she twirled a bit and headed into the bar with a sunny smile. She waved to the people there and slipped behind the counter, dancing to the radio attached to her headphones and humming softly. Her voice was well trained, having been taught from an early age to sing and she let out a happy laugh, seeing V and Syn. She bowed elegantly and started cleaning the bar like a good girl.
As she worked, she hummed and bounced as usual, trying to spread her happiness to the people around her. She joyfully made sure everyone had their drinks and snacks. Smiling brightly and spinning, she made a cocktail for someone and handed it over, then sat on a barstool and waited for more to do.

Trudging into the bar looking like he had just been through hell, Marcus hung up his hat on the coat rack and slumped into a stool at the bar. Shutting his eyes, he let out a sigh, then opened them again. "Barkeep," he said in an emotionally drained tone, "gimme the strongest drink you've got. I need a memory eraser."

Rachel hopped up and slipped over the counter, starting to mix a strong drink for him. She smiled a friendly smile and placed it down, tilting her head to the side. "Rough day?" She asked, watching him intently.

Taking the drink, Marcus finished it in one motion and set the glass on the counter again, letting out a gasp. "You don't know the half of it. Lycans ambushing my most loyal Vampire client, my best Lycan client having a heart attack two minutes before I got to him... I've lost so much invested time and money today... It's worse than the stock market crash. Can I get another?" He rubbed his eye with his palm, stretching a bit.

"Oh wow..." She said softly, making him another fast as she can and setting it down. "I'm so sorry, man. if you need to rant about it, I'm here." Rachel smiled gently and smoothed hair off her face. She looked around and got to giving other people drinks, then returned to him. She wanted to stay nearby in case he felt like he needed to vent his frustration or anger.

V smiled softly as she slipped herself down from the counter to stand in front of the man and next to her bartender. "If they want something strong just give them a straight shot. It'll do the job." She sat an empty shot glass in front of him as she poured from a glass bottle filled with a dark amber liquid.

Taking the shot and drinking it quick, Marcus let out a cough and smiled. "There we go. THAT'S a mind number. Whoo, that was good. Yeah, but I've been on a bad luck streak lately. I was going with a Vampire girl for a few weeks. She actually didn't mind me being the Double-Sided Salesman. But when we started getting serious, she wanted to turn me. I had to cut it off and she's been out to ruin my business ever since. If she keeps it up, I might have to call out a favor and make more fighting happen, but I just can't get her to stop cause if I confront her, she might try turning me again."

Rachel's eyes went wide and she winced. "Oh dear..." She looked to her beloved boss and gulped. "Should we help him?" She asked, looking a little hopeless. She didn't like fighting but could if it was needed. Racheal frowned a little and cocked her head to the side.

Listening contently V poured him a second shot while added on to her own hand. "What kid of wares do you sale?" She asked flatly.
Syn looked up from the book she had begun reading. Her mismatched eyes glittering beneath her extensive violet tattoos. She made no sign of interest and went back to her literature.

"Metal, blood bags, clothing, meat. You know, living essentials. The only weapons I have are my revolver and my katana, and that's only because I need protection and I don't wanna shell out for a bodyguard." Drinking his other shot, he coughed again, setting the glass down before he pounded his chest, clearing out a pain from a little going down the wrong pipe. "It's a passive and painfully difficult business, but thankfully I have good suppliers who are just as neutral as me. If you all want, I could look into trying to get you some more rare and expensive spirits." Despite the fact that he had taken two shots of hard alcohol, he wasn't showing even the slightest bit of drunkenness.

Rachel smiled at that idea, wanting more types of alcohol to use for her lovely guests. "Please, V? It'd be awesome if I had more to use!" She grinned, looking hopeful and sweet, showing her youth. She bounced on her heels and tilted her head to the side like a little kitten, watching her boss intently.

Syn was the one who spoke up first. "Oh you old c**t." She laughed without lifting her eyes from her book. "Of course V would help. She always does." Laughing she placed the book down on the bar top and watched with amusement at the death glare Victoria leveled at her.
"It's settled then I suppose." V started softly. "There's two studio rooms upstairs. You may have one. Rent is 300 a month, If you're going to be late on it tell me, don't lie. You work on getting supply in my bar I'll drop the rent a bit." She poured herself and the gentlemen another shot. "The name is Victoria. What will I be calling you?" She asked as she held her shot out for a toast.

Rachel clapped happily and hugged both women, then made celebratory drinks for them all, twirling and mixing happily a trio of strong drinks. She would have made one for herself, but she prided on never having alcohol on the job. She smiled gently as she set the drinks down and went to see about the other customers, humming brightly and swaying about.
Soon, Rachel returned to the trio and just sat down to watch them quietly. She was feeling a tad shy after that little outburst and was worried she might have made her bosses mad.
