Who has been watching the Olympics coverage? I think Japan's doing pretty well considering they aren't really an Olympics powerhouse country like China or the US.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2012 2:18 pm

I think Japan is doing excellent! (HUGE Olympic watcher over here..)
So far, I've only watched the Japanese team take two gold metals though... swimming and men's gymnastic all-around.
But (I may be wrong, but) I'm pretty sure Japan is the 3rd country with the most metals so far? Isn't that right?

One of my favorite moments (gold medal for Japan!): gaia_gaiagold

日本オリンピック委員会(ツィッター)
内村が個人総合金メダル 五輪体操男子

Mainly, I only watch men's soccer and men's gymnastics though. ^^;
So far, Japan hasn't lost a single soccer game, last I've watched/checked... my fingers are crossed.

Their coach is getting criticized for cheating and unfair play...... but I think the man is a genius.
He knows the team's limitations, but he also knows a way they can win. ♥ And I hope they do!
And frankly - it's not cheating. It's just extreme time-stalling, and picking the right matches.
Any team in the lead would do the same thing.

GOtoku!! ♥

By most medals they are fifth By most gold medals they are 14th.

I usually tune in and watch whatever's on, though archery and fencing are really cool to watch, so I try to catch those, that and soccer.
Which country's coverage of the games are you watching?
I usually watch the Japanese streams of it, or the British ones, as the US ones announcers tend to annoy me. ^^;

I watch the American coverage... I agree with you 100%. Annoying, overly biased, and a tad rude as well...
I was watching the men's gymnastic all-around, and ALL I HEARD was ways the Japanese athletes could screw up, and fail.
(......not to mention, they talk waaay too much.)

Is there a way I can watch the British steams? My whole house would appreciate it, LOL. >_<

Sometimes I can find Japanese perspective coverage on youtube, but I just checked and all were deleted. emotion_donotwant

For the Japanese coverage I've been using KeyholeTV (just keep switching between the major channels, NHK, TBS and TV Asahi seem to show it the most) and for the British one I've been using the BBC streams from tvpc.com. Of course, the British coverage focuses most on British athletes, and same with Japanese coverage and Japanese athletes, but as long as that doesn't bother you, it's a lot of fun to watch. Sometimes I put the British stream (muted) on with the Japanese stream in the corner, and the muted American one on the side. There really is a difference in who they focus on...0_o

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!! emotion_c8
I'm cheering for GB and Japan anyways... very unpatriotic here. ♥
Plus, ANYTHING is better than watching NBC coverage. >_________< My dad will be thrilled.

LOL, I'm glad.^^
I always cheer for Japan and whoever is playing against the US (they have lots of medals already), especially if it's a little known country I've never/rarely heard of. Why are you cheering for GB, may I ask?

Oh I couldn't agree more! USA wins everything... so it gets a little boring!
(Same reason I don't root for Roger Federer in tennis... he's won way too much in the past.)

I honestly don't know why! I'm half Irish (Republic of-, not UK),
and my dad and I have always been somewhat resentful towards GB,
but GB is in every part of my life. >_<
I watch English league soccer, my favorite tennis player is Andy Murray,
my favorite shows are all British, a lot of my friends are British,
all my favorite bands are British ... and same goes for my dad.
My mum even knows more about the royal family than any person living in London!
Obsessively so!
AND SHE'S FROM THE PHILIPPINES. (≧_≦)ノ

I guess we were all hypnotized by the queen's beautiful smile at one point in our lives.
Yes. I'm kidding. ♥

LOL, that makes sense. I've been a fan of Harry Potter, Monty Python, and classic British literature for a while now, but those are the only British things I'm into pretty much. Most of my entertainment is Japan-related. xd
Have you ever visited England or Europe? i'd like to go sometime, mostly because my sister went and took a lot of photos of streets and shops that look like they leaped out of a Harry Potter book, or classic Brit lit. surprised

In other news, US vs Japan in the women's soccer finals!
It was a slow workday at my internship, so everyone just streamed the US vs Canada soccer game. ^^ Japan's team is the same one that won the Woman's World Cup last year, aren't they? I hope they win...

Oh Monty Python ♥ LOL I love those guys. (And Fawlty Towers!)
No, I haven't gone to Europe yet! I plan to go to Ireland with my dad,
but I want that to be sometime after college.
Last September, I went to Japan, so my savings are drained. >_<

US vs Japan in the women's Olympic soccer finals?? Again?
I will literally cry for days if Japan loses. emotion_donotwant That same team won FIFA 2011 (against the US)!!
BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE.

I really want the men to win too though... they are doing amazingly. (Even without Honda Keisuke!)

Wow, all the pictures I've seen of Ireland are really beautiful. (also, Celtic music is the only type of music in English I didn't give up for language immersion, though I limit my time listening to it. I bet most bands just play pop in Ireland now though...*sigh*) I'm sure you'll have a great time when you end up going.

Yeah, 頑張れなでしこジャパン!
I've been reading their official site lately. xd
