GETTING TO KNOW US
Here's where you can catch a small blurb about the individuals comprising the team. These are their own words. I will update as they PM their responses to me.
Echo TechHello everyone! I've been on Gaia since 2006, and I believe I first united with Aekea in 2007. I've been a loyal citizen ever since. Aekea has been a home and welcoming community to me, and I hope to see this guild flourish to keep everyone united between events.
In real life, I'm in my final year as a student on my way to a bachelor's in echocardiography. For those of you who don't speak medical text, that basically means I'll be able to perform cardiac ultrasounds. I hope that breaks it down enough that you can get the picture. Currently I'm on a year's (unpaid) internship halfway across the country from where I started out from.
My goal for this guild, once it's really going, is to have it operate fairly independently by the community and users. I hope that teams can be build who lead the charge for special events, celebrations, and more. I hope to see role plays spring up and flourish, art and writing be shared, and places to go when our members are in need of help. I hope this place blooms into something spectacular.
HildurnessHi! I'm Hildurness. I've been an Aekean since the 2007 event but I think I was most "involved" in this one, for sure. I really came to love this community pretty quickly and that's why I was so passionate about getting a guild set up.
I'm not a really exciting person behind the scenes: I'm a grad student, on my way to hopefully becoming Dr. Hildurness in a few years. I study the history of Iceland and especially the role of women and gender in medieval Icelandic/Norse society (awesome, amirite?) When I'm not being an academic slave, I do a lot of reading, hiking, listening to music and so on. I love people but I'm pretty shy. But I try to do good to everyone I meet. I like to think I'm a pretty simple person, honestly.
As far as my role in this guild is concerned, I'm not so keen on being seen as a leader. I'd rather be an organizer or volunteer that helps keep the gears of the guild running smoothly. I feel like my views are just as valid as everyone else's, so I'm always asking "what does everyone else think?" and then deciding from there. I helped run an academic organization when I was an undergraduate and used this philosophy a lot. It worked nicely. That's kind of the approach I want to take here.
Though I am generally quiet, I can get really passionate about things and I'm not afraid of being brutally honest or calling people out on things. I think honesty and openness is super-important. But I really want to promote harmony and happiness among us and do whatever I can to keep this awesome and lovely community alive and thriving. That's my top priority.
xCrimson AutumnHi. I'm xCrimson Autumn, also known as Crimson. I've been on gaia since January 2008. I'm a Sophomore in college, live in Southern Ohio, and have been to most of the states in the U.S. and have called a lot of different areas my "home". I mostly role play on Gaia but I do like to lurk in other places as well.
Why am I qualified for this leadership team you ask? I think there are many reasons. To start off, I was the senior editor of my high school's literary magazine, I was also the co-president of the writing club. These both took place during my senior year in high school. At this time I was also the Student Director of the spring play for my high school. After I graduated, I became an Adult Leader of my church's youth group, working with mainly students in middle school and am still doing this as a volunteer service. I can work with others in many different age groups in giving and receiving direction as an individual and as a team.
I feel very involved with Aekea and with the start of this guild. And I hope you all feel the same way.
Blind Hodd Why hello there, I'm Blind Hodd, have a seat and let's get to know each other a little.
Here, I'll start. I'm an under employed 23 year old with some light undiagnosed mental illness, nothing serious I assure you.
You may fell like my name sounds familiar, if you have any interest in Norse mythology or Marvel comics you may recognize it as the blind God of poetry.
I'm descended from 1 of 6 viking warlords so that may have something to do with it. I'm also green blooded and proud of that to a fault.
In any case you're probably wondering why you would want to trust me with this guild. Well first of all I've been with Aekea for as long as I've been aware of the option. I'm also loyal and honor bound to the bitter end. I have nothing but good will for all those I call family and friends, and you are ALL family.
I've been crew in one Gaia guild and one TF2 clan. You may remember Legion of helpers from a guild spotlight. Unfortunately most of the leadership started doing other things and it stagnated to nonexistance despite my best attempts. My TF2 clan also fell apart but for very different reasons. In this clan I was lower management, the upper management had a bit of a squabble and try as I might there was a noticeable schism in the members that ended in 1/2 the guild leaving. It didn't help that they all hated the clan leader and started a new clan just to spite him. Yes they both ended poorly, but as I always say you learn more from failures than successes. I do however, intend for this to be a raging success.
Cheers, The Blind Poet
