Has anyone here tried sewing steampunk outfits? I want to try to make an steampunk outfit once I get the chance. It seems like a good way to experiment with making patterns and new cloth types.

I have always wanted to but I don't think I have enough sewing experience. My step mom is making a steam punk outfit from a patter she found on the internet.

I have and would love to make more Steampunk outfits. Recently got interested in it and it was fun making them. Although it is a pain in the wallet, it was worth it at the end. This is the first one I have made: http://wenora.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/steampunk101.jpg I bought the corset and then built around it. Had tons of fabric lying around so made use of what I already had.
This one I recently did: http://prishe2win.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d5075ao biggrin
Right now I'm trying to learn how to make corsets. Hopefully that will go well *crosses fingers*

I went to a con and really regret not trying on a corset while I was there. I think I'll buy a corset after the trouble my friend had with making one. Found out how to turn a normal umbrella into a parasol from her though which I'll have to try soon
