I'm currently conducting an experiment. Nope, don't worry, I am washing my hair, but I'm using baking soda and apple cider vinegar instead of shampoo. I was researching about hair/scalp issues, and saw numerous people reference "No shampoo". I was really curious so I researched it. The idea is to naturally clean your hair without putting chemicals in the environment or in your head, and to remove deposits on your hair from those chemical/silicon shampoos.
Apparently you only need to rinse your hair with a small amount of baking soda mixed in water. You condition using a small amount of apple cider vinegar with water. The baking soda cleans without leaving a buildup and the vinegar is supposed to clarify and condition. Apple cider vinegar is known to help with scalp issues, and will remove chemical products as well.
It's been a week so far using baking soda in place of shampoo. There is no scent left behind, and my hair looks just as good as with shampoo. The baking soda cleaned my hair and stayed clean longer. It does seem softer already and the vinegar definitely worked.
I know, it probably sounds kind of weird and people's reaction tends to be "Eww!"... but the baking soda and vinegar does clean your hair. I'm going to see how it continues to go as time goes by. If it works, good, if not I'll ditch it, but I want to see if it will help my scalp (since many articles insist that it will work)
