Ayumi got dressed and walked out of her empty house. She missed her Mother and Father so much. She can't believe they're gone...
Ayumi remembered that night he was murdered...
It was about 7:00 PM on that horrid evening. She could remember it like it was yesterday.
She was in the living room colouring a picture of her Daddy making dinner, which he was. Her Mommy was out to see a movie with friends. Her Daddy was whistling a cheery tune that Ayumi was singing to. It was the song her Mum and Dad sang to her while she was trying to sleep. It was "You Are My Sunshine". The song had helped her through bad times and nightmares. Little did she know that her worst nightmare was about to happen.
Ayumi was singing to her Daddy's tune.
"You'll never know, deeaar, How much I looove yooou, Please don't taaake my Sunshine awayyy~" she sang. She waited for the whistle solo, but heard nothing. "Daddy..?" she turned around just in time to see the man slit her Daddy's throat. "NOOOO!!! DADDYYYY!!!!!"
The man ran, startled.
Ayumi ran over to her Father and kneeled next to him, her dress soaked in his blood. "Daddy..?" she whimpered. No response. Tears streamed down her face and landed on his. "Daddy...?" She just sat next to him, murmuring "Daddy..?" every so often and crying.
An hour later, her Mother came in.
Oh, her Mother...
It was dark, nighttime, around 2:30 AM when she awoke to the noise. That noise would haunt her dreams along with her Father's murder for the rest of her lifetime. It was her Mother, screaming. Ayumi jumped out of bed immediately and ran to investigate.
"Mum? Mum?!" she cried. "Where are you? Mum?!" She walked into her Mother's bedroom to find nothing but a pool of blood on her bed. She ran over and grabbed handfuls of the blood-soaked sheets, hoping for an answer. Just then, a breeze came from the open door. She hastened to the porch to see if she could catch a glimpse of anything. It was then that she saw him. That same man who had murdered her Father.
She had called the cops then and went to the station. They had no leads. She gave them a description, but, no one called the tip line. She found out later that the same thing had happened to her best friend, Kotone. Both of their Fathers were murdered before their eyes on the same day, and now both of their Mothers had been taken. The description of the assassin was the same for both.
"Well, anyway," Ayumi said to her cat. "I must be off." She patted her cat's head, grabbed her sword, and headed off to the forest.

Kotone ran through the forest, looking for evedence for the assassin. "Damb, still nothing." She muttered to herself. She hated thinking of her past, but she couldn't help investigating. Just as she hopped down from a tree a monster came out. She grabed her sword and slashed it to bits without thinking. She stood there, covered in blood, waiting for her friend to show up so they could get going on their trip from town to town to find the killer. "Where is she? She's late." She muttered, looking at herself and sheathing her sword. She decided she needed to change cloths so she went behind a bush and got ready in her uniform.

Ayumi ran up just then, staring puzzled at the gore on the forest floor. "Kotone? Are you alright?"
"I'm fine~!" she said, hopping out of the bush.
"What's with the blood?" asked Ayumi, picking a leaf out of Kotone's hair.
"Oh, some dumb monster. I handled it."
"Oh wow! Really? You're really getting better with that sword, huh."
"Yeah. It's easier to wield now. I'm getting used to it!" she said with a smile.
"Well that's good. We should get going." They started walking towards the town of Hibiki, their next stop on the way to find their Mothers.
A few moments later, a huge, hairy, muscly, green monster arm came out and grabbed Ayumi by the ankle.
"AHHH!" She screamed as she was pulled down. "Kotone! HELLLP!!!"

Kotone turned around to see the giant monster holding Ayumi. "Die monster!!" She shouted, running with her sword to charge into it. She didn't feel anything though, she had been shoved to the ground by something and that thing was human, but they had a black cloak so not to be abl to be named. Another one with the same cloak, destroyed the monster, nodded at the being on top of Kotone, and they both ran off towards the town. "W-wait!!" She shouted, but they were gone. "God damn!!" Kotone yelled, sheathing her sword behind her. "Well, I'm hungry, let's get going." She stated. "Sure! I'm a bit hungry myself after being attacked!" Ayumi laughed as they entered town and bought two ice creams.

Ayumi pulled out Kotone's sword and a rag. She wiped the blood from it. "You have to keep this thing clean, or else it'll rust. Make sure to wipe the blood from it."
"Eheheh, sorry~," Kotone said while scratching the back off her head. Ayumi handed her the sword and she put it back, crystal clean.
Ayumi picked up her ice cream and took a bite. "I love Sundaes. So yummy," she said, setting it back down to clean off the table. "Eww, they should really clean these more often."
"I know, right? Pretty disgusting."
Just then, the two cloaks flew by. Ayumi and Kotone looked at each other.
"We should figure out who those two are..," Kotone said.
"Yeeaahhh..."
Ayumi finished her sundae and Kotone finished her cone. They picked up and went on their way to town.
About halfway there, they heard a scream. The girls unsheathed their swords and ran to investigate.
When they arrived, they spotted an Elderly Woman in the hands of a monster. In the monster's other two... arms... well, tentacles, were the masked men. Actually, they looked like boys. Around 15. Like Ayumi and Kotone.
"Kotone!!! You can help me with the woman! We'll handle the boys in a minute!" Ayumi yelled over the monster's groans and growls. "You take the right, I'll take the left!" Ayumi dashed to the left and just to her right was Kotone. They jumped in unison and sliced their swords into either side of the monster's tentacle. Gravity played its roll and the arm fell to the ground, twitching. The girls caught the Woman before she could hit the ground and helped her up,
"Are you okay, ma'am?" asked Kotone.
"Y-yes, I'm fine, dear. Now go help those boys!"
"Right."
"Same direction!" Ayumi shouted. She took the boy on the left, and Kotone took the boy on the right. These tentacles were smaller and they severed them with ease.The boys landed a half a second before the girls and began to run. "Oh no you don't! Not this time!" Ayumi exclaimed, she tackled the first boy and Kotone tripped and pinned the second.
"Don't think you can get away so easy," Kotone said.
"Yeah. Who are you guys, anyway?"
"I-I uhh..," stammered Kotone's boy.
"We are, uhm..," stuttered Ayumi's boy.
"You're what?!" yelled Kotone. She was sick and tired of the running.
"I'm Takeshi Tsubame! W-we're trying to get somewhere! What about you two? Who're you?!" said Ayumi's boy.
"E-excuse me, uhm, would you like to talk about this over tea and cookies?" asked the Elderly Woman.
"Sure," accepted Ayumi. They all walked into the Elderly Woman's house and sat at her table as she served them tea and cookies.

Kotone sighed. "This is going to be a long day." She mumbled. The boy she had pinned down earlier glanced over at her. "You guys going to take off your damn cloaks or what?" She grumbled looking back at them while munching on a cookie. The boy smirked.
"Heh, sure. Not like we really have to hide or anything, I mean, we are suspects to our Father's murders." Takeshi groaned.
"Geeze, you never lighten up do you Daichi?" Daichi shot his headover to Takashi.
"Hey! Don't tell them my name you cowerd!!" He yelled, jumping up. When he got up his hood fell down and he froze in shock.
"U-uh, heh. Oopse." He sighed and sat back down.
"Great..." He mumbled.
"Wait, you're the boys we heard about?!" Kotone pointed in shock. Daichi sighed. "Yeah, I'm Daichi Hideyoshi. You girls are?" He smirked in the direction of Kotone.

"O-our fathers were murdered too. We were the girls from another town. But we were all only seven... how did you become a suspect?" Ayumi asked.
"T-the knife was found near our beds..," Takeshi admitted.
"But, the murderer planted it. How could they not see that?"
"Eheh, we didn't cry... we didn't even care, really. Our fathers were buddies and they beat us together. We honestly didn't mind their death. If anything, we were happy to never be beaten up again." said Daichi. "But anyway, names?"
"Ayumi Michi."
"Kotone Manami."
Takeshi removed his hood and took off his cloak. Daichi looked over with concern, but did the same, revealing uniforms for a school from another town.
"Well you know our names," said Takeshi, as he was walking back to the table, he slipped and fell. His head hit the corner of the table, making him bleed everywhere.
Ayumi hopped up from the table, grabbing a cloth napkin. She ran over to an unconscious Takeshi and sat down next to him. She lifted his head and set it in her lap. She dabbed his head with the cloth and called"It's alright! He's fine!" As she was dabbing him, ears grew from his head. Cat ears. "U-uhm!! C-cat ears?!"
"Oh darn. He forgot to mention that he's a Neko. Whenever he's hurt, or when he's in battle, his cat ears come out." said Daichi. "It's normal. They'll go away when he wakes up. He can control them.

Kotone laughed at Auymi's reaction and looked over at Daichi.
"So, we have a few questions." She said, looking at Daichi.
"Well then, ask away little girls." He said smirking.
Kotone grabbed the hilt of her sword and Ayumi shot her head to look at Kotone. "Kotone, don't. I know you hate being called 'little' but calm down." She said swiftly. Kotone let go of her sword and glared at Daichi as he just looked at her waiting for the questions.
Just then, Takeshi looked up at Ayumi. He was so shocked he couldn't speak. That is, until Kotone's stomech growled.
"Haha! Guess you're hungry." He said, reaching into his small bag and pulling out a weird bread.
"Here, it's melon bread. I think you'll like it." He gave it to Kotone and she looked at it weirdly and took a bite. "Yumm!!" She said with a mouthful of bread.

Ayumi rolled her eyes. "She gets hungry after two hours of not eating. Especially while we're exerting ourselves. As for me, I could go a full day without a single bite of food."
Daichi laughed. "I can go.., maybe three hours. Tops."
Kotone giggled while Takeshi groaned. "Yeah, right! You can't go three hours! Even if you did, you'd be cranky as hell! Why do you think I just have random bread in my bag?! Maybe one and a half, two hours without a snack before you kill someone. I just eat every eight hours."
Everyone started laughing then. Note to self: Always have food in my bag, thought Ayumi. She then got up, pulled her bag off of her chair, grabbed Takeshi's hand and pulled him down. She had noticed his head started bleeding again while he was laughing. Actually, it never stopped. It just got worse.
"What're you doing?" asked Takeshi as Ayumi took out gauze, tape, and an Ace-Bandage from her bag.
"Wrapping up your head. You're bleeding even worse now. I planned to do it while you were knocked out, but you insisted on waking up."
Kotone and Daichi were talking about their favourite breads.
"Uh.., I'm fine, thanks. I'll stop bleeding eventually."
"No. You won't. Now, sit down, or I'll have to pin you down."
"O-okay." Takeshi sat on his knees in front of Ayumi. Ayumi sat on her knees in front of Takeshi.
Ayumi grabbed the gauze and began to wrap it around his head. When she got to the back of his head, she was forced to move forward to reach. They were so close, but Ayumi didn't notice the first time. She was staring at a nearby plant that needed watering. Takeshi noticed, though. His eyes got wide and he blushed a deep red as she moved closer. The second time around, he got embarrassed and turned. That time, Ayumi looked over, noticing how close they were. The third time, they both looked away, still embarrassed. The fourth time, however, they turned back to see if the other one was looking. But, they turned a second too late, and, by the time the two turned back, their lips brushed against each other. Ayumi stopped wrapping, abashed.

Kotone and Daichi looked over at their compainions just as they brushed lips.
"A-Ayumi, w-what happened?" Kotone said blushing.
"Uhh..." Daichi couldn't think of anything to say.
He looked at Kotone and then walked over to finish bandaging his friend. Kotone went to Ayumi who was now frozen with embaressment. "Ayumi! Hey! Get your head out of the clouds! Ayumi!!" She shook Ayumi back and fourth but got no response. Probably due to all the movement from Kotone. When she let go of Ayumi she left hand marks. "Ahh, oops..heheh I guess I did that a little to hard." She muttered as her stomech growled again. "Got any more melon bread Takashi?" Daichi said smirking after finishing up. Takashi nodded and gave Daichi a bag full of bread. He looked at Kotone and tossed her more bread until she was burried under it. "MMFF?!" They could hear her muffle and they all burst out laughing. Kotone emerged and stuffed the bread into a bag and cleared her throught. "Well, we should find a suitible place to stay if you want to wait here, but I advise, Ayumi, that we continue our mission. We can't forgive that..that...thing!" She yelled, grabbing her things and going to sit outside and wait. Daichi sighed and looked at Ayumi. "Look, we don't care about our Fathers deaths, but we can help you out. It would really make things easier if you girls wern't alone looking for something that dangerous." He said, nodding at Takashi.
