A few more recent ones that I've liked or am currently watching that I recommend are:
Ao no Exorcist (The manga is pretty good to and is still ongoing.)
Toward the Terra
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (It may be magical girl, but it is DARK and twisty and o_0!!!)
And if you want something vintage:
Beast King Go-Lion (This is what Voltron originally was back in Japan.)
