History: Kalania is a weyrbrat born from a greenrider, and even though her mother decided to carry her to term, Kalania never truly got to know her, and so was raised by the Weyr.

She has been fascinated with whers and dragons from a young age, however, she grew up playing with two whers in particular, bonded to two woman that had more or less taken up the duty of raising her more prominently than others. Their whers, a green and a blue, grew quite protective of the three women and adopted Kalania into their group. Because of this, Kalania found little need to socialize with the other weyrbrats at first, instead preferring to spend time with her 'family' of sorts.

Once she hit 11, she realized that other children were not so bad, and some of them even made good company, and so she was, more or less, forgiven by her peers and accepted into the little circle of children, and started to spend less time around her wher friends. The children she fell in line with eventually saw her as a sort of leader, much to her chagrin, but she took her duty as seriously as any child can, and eventually turned her little band into an adventurous group of trouble makers that loved climbing the cliffs, chasing wherries, and getting into all sorts of mischief. One thing Kalania did that none of the other children dared was to cliff dive into the ocean, because the scant few seconds it took to hit the water made her feel like she was flying, which was the most amazing feeling in the world.

Although she loves the ugly whers, and finds them more beautiful than a sunrise, she tells herself that she'll never become a wherhandler because she wants so badly to fly.

And many have seen her longing looks whenever one of the majestic dragons fly overhead.

Appearance: Chestnut hair and Hazel eyes. She wears her hair at medium length, just below her shoulder blades. She is short, but well formed for her height. Feminine and curvy, but definitely not soft or weak.

Personality: Kala is persistent and aloof as a child, and retains these traits as she grows older. However, her aloofness only remains around strangers at her current age. The young girl is very, very easy to read when it comes to her emotions.

She has a lot of problems making friends, as she is remarkably shy, but once she becomes your friend, she will do anything for you. Loyalty is very important to her, and if she is the victim of betrayal, it nearly crushes her. Although she likes being a follower, if no leader is available, she will take charge to the best of her abilities. She is extremely loving, and wears her heart on her sleeve. She feels a need to protect and nurture those weaker or worse off than she, much like her two surrogate mothers did for her. When she gets older, she will also be very sensual.

Kala is a very determined individual, which has a habit of feeding her negative qualities.

She has the tendency to become extremely aggressive and competitive during games or sports when she is paired with opponents similar in strengths to her own, and is a very bad sore loser, usually stalking off in a huff and spewing vulgarities as she goes. This is something she will eventually grow to control(to a point), but most kids experience some form of sore loser syndrome when they are young. She is also very quick to temper when confronted with outright stupidity or lack of common sense, which is something that will stay with her. This can make her childhood 'leadership' tricky, as she tends to speak before her tongue catches up with her brain, leaving tact to follow.

Changed the wher stuff, and reworded her personality description to hopefully convey what I'm trying to describe. She is based on a friend of mine that is super loving and caring and devoted to her friends, but will still show annoyance if any of us says something stupid, or makes stupid decisions that show a complete lack of common sense. She's almost mother hen-ish in that she will nurture you hardcore, but peck the s**t out of you if you act in a way that, to her, is stupid. Make sense?
