Today sermon Lazarus. I just thought I would share a bit of the story and what I learned from my pastor.
story says he was a sick man. he fell asleep. (died) Jesus went to see him 4 days after he died. why? back in the bible times when somebody died for 3 days the say the soul would stay around the body and on the 4th day they would go to see God. so that day on the 4 day he was died he was buried in the tomb. Now when Jesus Came to see him he asked Lazarus sisters if they Believe that He was the one to come and save all people from sin. the sisters believed he was. Then after the Tomb was opened Jesus called Lazarus Come out! and with that he did.
what would have happened if Jesus did not call him by name? then it could be possible that all the dead that were in the Tomb could have come out.? But Jesus called Lazarus out. The question today was/ is has Jesus called you by name?

God is my strength... "Psalms 28:7"
So interesting... back in the beginning of August I saw the Skit Guys preform a live rendition of Jesus calling Lazarus... The same point was made about Jesus specifically calling him out.
Jesus has called me by name to serve His people, currently out of my normal comfort zone as a greeter for a ministry called Celebrate Recovery. I am a shy person, I don't really like putting myself out there and feeling awkward and uncomcortable. But week after week as new people come through the doors I reach out of myself to help them. It's a constant reminder of where I came from when I first started recovery and it's a reminder that they need tons of love no matter what state they are in.
