The crawling suffocation with its tendrils choked the already limited air from her erratically twitching lungs gripping the young woman by her throbbing jugular; scorching trepidation flooded her quacking as her chest inflated with a minuscule lifesaving breath. The heated taste of the desert sun played at her tongue and yet all Rind could focus on was how slimy her mouth felt despite the dry, parched sensation blazing across her palate and down her esophagus. She couldn’t breathe; she had to get away, she had to---

Yellow hues snapped open as the fuzzy lump on her chest continued to stare down at her with its big innocent peepers opened wide with awe, Cobalt had never seen anything as mysterious as the young woman’s pink dangily, he simply had to get a closer look and before he knew it he was beak deep into her mouth poking and prodding curiously at the odd white bits and wet floppy thing.

“Really? Really little one,” Rind gruffly mumbled while her purple tinted chocobo wiggled excitedly against her upper body, he was so happy she was awake, now they could play and she could chase him around and feed him
delicious things. Lifting his plump tail into the air Cobalt called out loudly in a trill, jubilant voice as he head-butted the woman under him affectionately. “You think you’re funny don’t you, boy? C’mon let’s get you something to eat before decide to take my tongue out next time, you goofy little egg-ling.” Thick locks of dusty brown hair scattered across her jaw as she pushed herself up from the cot that she rested upon, every muscle in her body chose at that exact moment to tell her to ******** off and try again later, oh how she wished she could listen to the all mighty fibers and tissues however sleeping was a folly she simply couldn’t afford. Groaning loudly Rind wristed at the waist as she rolled out of the rented bed, callused knees made twin thuds as they struck the wooden floorboards, carpet would have been a nice greeting but as it stood she had yet to be paid and couldn’t afford a room with any lavish commodities; in fact she was just grateful there was a floor and not a blanket of dirt.

Fumbling around in the tight living space Rind LeBlanc made quick work of the tasks she had to attend, feeding the little one, donning her armor, placing the bridal and harness on the squirming feathery lump, then tending to her sword. Today was the day that she had to meet a mutual party to her current client in the old cathedral at the outskirts of town, she wasn’t exactly sure what his business was with her boss but she was just the muscle she didn’t exactly needed to think too much about the situation, her brain however refused to let her believe her internal monologue. “A Moogle, hm, I wonder how this is gonna turn out.”

J'lemon, for all intensive purposes, was not happy that he was going to be escorted through this particular dungeon by a hume warrior. It wasn't what he did. It wasn't what he liked. But money as money, and boy his client had a lot of it. That was the only reason he agreed to it. That and he got to keep whatever he found in the temple that the client hadn't specifically asked for. Whoot!

As he rode towards the temple astride that might blue and yellow dwarf chocobo of his, he lazily glanced around and yawned, scratching at his chocolate brown furry cheeks. Nothing of interest. Oh, look a human sized inn. That must be where he was supposed to meet this thing and start this foolish escapade. He grumbled and shrugged and urged the trilling ChocoOno onwards with a few clicks of his tongue and off they were past the inn and to the cathedral. The small chocobo did get quite a few stares, but it was mostly the size and the fact that there was a moogle dressed in almost all black riding by.

It took J'lemon an hour to get to where he intended to set up a base camp, kick some unwanted rocks from the site, smooth the dirt out with help from ChocoOno, and get breakfast going after feeding his beloved companion. It was spiced a spiced vegetable stew with a bit of dry bread in there to make it thicker. Yes, the fire gave away his position, but he was here to meet someone and that meant being seen. " Why would anyone build a cathedral all the way out in the middle of a desert, kupo. " he said huffily as he poked at the coals with a stick. His pom-pom bounced as he kept his ears moving for any sound of an approaching thing, be it friendly or not so friendly.

Choco Ono, on the other hand was busily giving herself a dirt bath in the morning's sun with gleeful flailings. 'Kweeeee!' It made J'lemon thankful that he took her pack and saddle off as soon as they had arrived. Somehow that silly girl of his was always wanting to bathe. There was plenty of sand and he'd rather a clean chocobo than a dirty one anyday.

Blue eyes gazed at his bird lovingly, then drifted to the monolithic pillars of stone that arched the entry to the grand cathedral. The moogle wiggled his nose as he thought about what lay beneath and what it was he was tasked with finding. A stone case that held a scroll, or so his client said. Deep in the bowls they would find it, and hopefully it would be in one piece. They had said there would be others, but the one they wanted was alabaster with runes of ruby and gold and held aloft on an ebony stone. It was dangerous, the client had said, but it was worth the trouble. Obviously, J'lemon doubled his price, got 3/4ths of the price up front, and had spent a week scouting the area and figured out that he needed help. No way was he setting foot in that behemoth of a structure and delving down into who knows deep with who knows what laying in wait.

It wasn't to say he wasn't grateful that his client figured out that it was dangerous for a moogle to go alone--he really was-- it was the choice of company. He had been hoping for one of them lizard folks. Those things could take on anything and laugh. Or one of those fabled Ronso... Though Ronso now were more of a legend. Now those suckers...those things didn't mess around, neither did the Veira...Humes? . . .Humes were just not up his alley. Didn't trust them. Too young of a race to have trust. Volatile things.... Then again, some of his best customers were Humes... Irony.
