Light and Darkness; forces that have always opposed one another in the world of Gaia.

Ever since Gaia's birth, darkness has fought tirelessly to keep its hold on the world in some shape or form. Whether it be with dastardly obscurities, or something as blatant and proverbial as night itself. Hundreds of years ago, even before the widely known Emerald war took place, the event that brought the Crownlands to their most high status in Gaia, an unnatural darkness began to form across certain parts of the land. With this darkness came evil in various forms; beasts that were unheard of, spirits, infected and infertile soil, wayward souls that took the form of the diseased and the undead. Evil that primarily took sanctuary in the far west or deep south of Gaia.

Until recently, has this Darkness began to mold a society of its own.

The areas that Kings and Queens and Empresses turn away from, or store in the back of their minds out of sheer fear or outlandishness, the areas' that existence is ultimately disregarded -- these are the Darklands and the Deadlands. Lands that have been under no ones' control, lands that house some of the most retched atrocities ever known to man. Few have dared to venture to these accursed places, and fewer have even returned from them.

The Kingdoms of Gaia have since banned together to bring these Darklands and Deadlands to the light, perhaps even make an everlasting peace with them. As of recently, outsiders have discovered that this evil in the south and west has been claimed by beings much, much more powerful than ever presumed. Users of dark magic.

Now, the question is, what power do these ominous lands hold? Will these sinful leaders agree to the Kingdom's terms? Do they desire to bring Gaia to peace once more, or will a war between the light and the darkness arise?

No one will know for sure, until they go there themselves.

This doesn't explain the story at all.

That's an interesting thing to spout, stranger. A really interesting thing to spout.

Because it actually does. c:

If you wish for me to spell it out for you, I'd be happy to do so in the most simplistic manner necessary.

To be honest I gotta say I kinda agree with Amy on this. I mean while it is very important information everyone should read it. It actually doesn't explain anything that it is currently going on. It just the overall setting. I mean if I read this on the back of a book or a movie. I would go ok so their are some guys in the dark and the some guys in the light they don't like each other very much. Hmmm sounds just like every generic storyline ever.

You plot doesn't mention any of the specific lands other than Darklands and Ghostlands. Clumping all the the other kingdoms into one group. Which is horribly off base. As the Skylands aren't a kingdom of the light they aren't allied with either side. Dracomania doesn't seem to have much care in the whole thing either. Going off what Drakon keeps saying. It doesn't explain how the Crownlands own North Reach or are allied with the Elves. It pretty much details your lands and your allies. Who aren't even allies yet.

But most importantly it doesn't say anything other then these guys over hear are live in darkness and these guys over here live in light they don't know about each other very much. I wonder if they will make peace or fight.

Just my personal opinion on the thing hopefully you don't take it personal.
I mean it's a good start. It set's up the story wonderfully. Just doesn't do a very good job of setting up a story.

Oh, boy. I'm glad you agree. I'll explain to both of you.

To clarify, this is a general storyline. I was told to create one to show members the role play's skeletal structure. If members would like to know about individual Kingdoms and history and all that, they should read up on them on their own. In actuality, since you brought it up, I suppose I will mention that this is the type of summary you would find on the back of a book or movie. A general one. So, I'm glad we cleared that up. [Don't know how many times I'm going to say the word general in this post]

The Kingdoms of Light are, what I said in the plot line thread, Kingdoms affected by the sun. So, of course they would be shoved into a general category. The Darklands and Ghostlands are only mentioned because they ARE NOT a part of the Kingdoms of Light and are a conjoined threat toward them.

In short, this is basic; generic. If you'd like an elaboration of the lands individually, make one. I'm not even sure if anyone was aware of what you're talking about, allies and such. Elvendom is barren and I'm not even sure I mentioned the Darklands or the Deadlands being allied. What gives you such an idea? :c

Anywho. I'd hate to mention that your last few sentences are contradicting one another. I'd like to think it was a wonderful set up. Considering no one even knew what the roleplay would be about before it was made.

If you'd like for every single thing to be touched on, start a discussion in the plot line thread.

This was actually the piece meant for the Guild homepage. :]

First off nobody was actually saying anything truely bad about it. Only that it could be better. The fact that anyone especially Amy who you called a stranger. Went this doesn't give me any clue what is going on. Means that it should require more information.

However that right there is actually exactly what I thought.

As for my last two sentences I typoed. I ment to say it set's up the setting wonderfully. Just doesn't set up the story very well.

And what I ment about it is. It's overgeneralizing the whole guild, that's all. Your taking this way to personally and way to defensively. We are trying to give you constructive criticism and your treating it like we are idiots who don't know what we're talking about. Instead of getting all high and mighty and defensive about it you should just try and explain your actions and take others input, as what they are opinions and criticism.

As for doing this ourselves. Um I did do exactly that in the other chat. Explaining everything that's going both in a format like this and in a simpler version directed just at Amy.

I'm glad you took initiative.

:c I haven't even begun to act high and mighty, Starwind. Nothing said preceding this post have I taken to heart. It isn't all that significant to me.

That right there, was me 'explaining my actions' in the most thorough and precise way I could. Simply put. I'm not sure where you get this notion that I'm talking down to anyone, I'm only disagreeing with the statement 'This does not explain the story at all'. Because it was obviously wrong.

I think you may be misunderstanding me and how I communicate to others.

All of this I think, is the reason Drakon did not want to start the RP right away and was trying to hold it off, none of our kingdoms have a real detailed history and there is still a lot of information missing. So I agree that the guild concept is really good, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Me and Sadakat will begin adding more Information about The Crownlands and North Reach, having a good sense of history in your surroundings opens up things our charries. So what is the solution to all of this? Add information to the homepage?

Development of Kingdom history would be a fine solution, I think. But how long will that take?

I'm all one for solidity, but I don't want it to take more time than it needs to.

Will these histories not being written affect the RP right now? One week is actually a long time for people waiting for it to be set up.
I can help with this. I think a reasonable deadline would be two or three days.
