Name
Monique Arrendondo
House
Ravenclaw
Age/Year
Thirteen/Year Three
Appearance
Monique has raven black hair with dark purple (as a result of trying to cut her hair using magic instead of allowing her mother to cut it herself.) that reaches her shoulders and compliments her black eye liner that she is rarely seen with out. Though still growing, Monique has begun to develop an hourglass figure and has fair skin and dark brown eyes. Outside of her typical school robes, Monique enjoys wearing a black zip-up jacket with a hood though she wears a black beanie instead of the hood. Underneath her jacket is always a dark purple fitting tee, black worn out jeans, all black high tops with a variety of brightly colored knee high socks.
Speaking Style
Though of Mexican descent, being raised in London, Monique has gained a British accent and has developed a slight lisp from wanting to, but denying her natural need to roll her R’s.
Demeanor
Due to her appearance being seemingly close to a delinquent or “weird” person, most assume she rather be alone or that is she is rude and angry, maybe even sad. To those who do know her, she is actually quite the people person, which can be perceived by her inviting smile and kind eyes. She comes off as happy and positive, quite opposite of her appearance and will flare her nose unknowingly when she is hungry or working on a difficult homework assignment, which is often perceived as cute and amusing.
Best Qualities
Being born to both a wizard and a muggle has made Monique understanding to anyone, magical blood or none, and willing to help. She is also quite the listener, having known how upsetting it is to talk and have no one listen, but it is often difficult to tell if she is listening or fallen into a daydream. Because she grew up having friends her whole life, Monique is a friendly person, even more so at Hogwarts being able to completely be herself and will always let a new person into her life.
Worst Qualities/Flaws
Monique has quite the talent when it comes to being extremely clumsy and she prepares as such by carrying extra band-aids and being a regular at the hospital wing. She also has a tendency to be forgetful, often during when the memory is needed most, such as on exams and most people’s birthdays, including her own. Adding to her clumsiness is her bad depth perception, as most accidents involve being aware of how close a wall or door or person for that matter actually is. Ironically, this allows her to be able to catch and hit things very well and she would make a great beater were it not for her fear of heights and mediocre flying ability.
History
Living in Chihuahua, Mexico and pregnant with her third child, Sonia Arredondo received an opportunity to begin her own business as a wedding planner in London, England. With support from her stay at home husband, Alejandro, and seven year-old twin sons, Raul and Rene, Sonia and her family moved to London. Soon after their arrival, Monique was born. Sonia and Alejandro proudly watched their daughter grow, though unsure if she would grow up to be a witch or if she would become a squib like her brother Rene, a possibility because her mother was a muggle.
At last, when she reached seven years old, Monique displayed her magical abilities when she accidently setting her schoolbooks on fire simply by just glaring at them after receiving a bad mark from her teacher, causing overwhelming joy in her father, jealously in Rene, and a content mother who knew how important this was in the magical community and immediately purchased a fire extinguisher and fire insurance, just in case.
Despite her father attempting to bring her into the Mexican culture, Monique, influenced by her friends and growing up in London, became more of a London lass. After countless attempts, her parents have given up trying to teach her Spanish and are at least content that she can understand it. With her best muggle mate, Andrew, Monique would divulge in muggle society and deeply enjoyed the time she would spend out in London and could never imagine living anywhere else.
Up until her letter from Hogwarts, Monique looked up to Rene, an accountant and still living with his family. He would teach her how most muggles behaved and explained how they would react were she to reveal she was a witch and why she must not tell her muggle friends, even Andrew what she was and was often disappointed at her choosing to wear punk related clothes which brought attention to her when he strictly told her to keep a low profile, the reason he became accountant in the first place.
When she received her Hogwarts letter, Raul took the reins and continues to help her in her classes, what teachers to avoid, how a schedule is important, but not necessary, and overall that were she to completely fail that she could always work selling Quidditch supplies with him. Luckily, Monique has done very well in being able to pass her classes and has told a sad Raul how she would rather become a famous bass guitarist instead due to his dropping her during a trip of the country side he took her on his broom.
Now in her third year, Monique is elated to be going back to Hogwarts, but is also saddened by her return. Though she loves her wizarding school and world, she more often than not misses her best friend, but as he is a muggle, she feels guilty having to hide half of her life from him and hopes to one day be able to tell him and see muggles and wizards becoming friends, no secrets.

Hobbies
In her spare time, Monique enjoys reading fiction, playing her bass guitar, though quite badly despite her many hours of practice, and collecting and wearing socks of a variety of colors and patterns. She might not do it on purpose, but because she does it so often and believes she’s fairly good at it, Monique likes to tell her friends that her favorite hobby is to daydream.
