Out of all the choices I made in skyrim choosing who to fight for in the civil war was the toughest choice I made in the game at first it seems easy to side with the storm cloaks because the empire tried to kill me at the start of the game but when you go to the holds and talk to the people the choice became more diffcult but in the end I decided to fight for the empire because I am not a huge fan of Ulfric especailly after paying a visit to windhelm and seeing how the dark elfs and argonioans are being treated but that is my opinion and choice tell me who you fought for and why you choose that side :3.

I chose the Empire's side. I found that the Thalmor are the true enemy. Even the citizens of Alinor/Summerset Isle loathe those pretentious asshats enough to rebel against them, and as much as I want to see the elves rise to power again I have to agree with the citizens. The Thalmor are ********' Nazis man. I don't even like most of them very much, and that's saying something. Skyrim has to stay united with the Empire if they're going to fight the bigger threat here.
There's also the fact that general Tulius was really heavily based off Julius Caesar, who is, in my opinion, the real 'most interesting man in the world'. I couldn't say no to someone that awesome. blaugh

I originally was going to be Stormcloak but, the cities that are with stormcloaks are just plain meanies >x3 And, I also hate High Elves. They think they are better than everyone. So I chose Imperial(even though it was by accident because I was half asleep.) I read some stuff and realized im glad I chose Imperial.

Resonare Praeteriti The Thalmor are ********' Nazis man. XD Exactly my thoughts after discovering Ulfric was a nationalist. I do simpatize with the Stormcloacks tough. If only they had a different leader, then I would most likely join the rebellion.

Yeah, and it's the same for me except applied to both sides; had the Stormcloaks' leader not been a major douche to me, and had the Empire not used my adoration of the Julius Caesar figure against me, I might have joined the Stormcloaks.

My first character I chose the Storm Cloaks because of the Empire trying to kill me, but then I realized how foolish a choice that was considering I wasn't a Nord and they have a dislike for non-Nords. So the next person I created I sided with the Empire and enjoyed it a lot more. The Empire has more to offer then the Stormcloaks, especially considering I never play a Nord. I tried to once but I'm partial to Breton's mainly, and wood elves. The Empire also has better armor. I sympathize with the Stormcloaks and their plight, but I can't side with them anymore. It only makes sense for my character to side with the Empire.

I went with what seems to be the popular oppinion of this thread so far and decided to join the empire. However this was mostly because I had also joined the dark brotherhood which gets a contract to kill the emperor fairly early on.
I could therefore commit regicide and be known as a complete monster by the majority of Tamriel.

Actually, now that I am in the war on the Imperials side, I wish I had just skipped everything and moved on to the peace treaty quest. Honestly.

Although I hesitated to pick sides at first, I chose the Stormcloaks.
1. The Imperials tried to chop my head off just for crossing the boarder.
2. The Imperials have sided with the Thalmor and allow the elves to exercise their authority in Skyrim. I understand that the Imperials plan on eventually fighting back against the Thalmor, but the Nords have lost their confidence in the Empire and justifiably so.
3. My nation IRL (America) was formed from a rebellion against Britain, so I kind of sympathize best with the Stormcloaks, although the circumstances concerning the war are quite different.
4. The Imperials and those associated with them are often the ones lacking in moral compass. (Compare the two feuding families of Whiterun.)
In my opinion, there is no right or wrong side. The Stormcloaks are racists, but the Imperials are weak, distant rulers who have even agreed to the banning of the worship of Talos, the most important Nordic deity.

I always choose the Empire, both due to roleplay requirements and because I play Khajiit.
Also what is worth remembering about the Stormcloaks they are not without the touch of the Thalmor. Ulfric, is, whether he realizes it or not, an agent of the Thalmor. Notes in game state this, they carefully control him from a distance even if he doesn't realize it himself.
Personally I feel that the Empire, keep in mind its not an ally of the Thalmor, just a peace with them for now, is the best shot at stopping them in the long run. An independant Skyrim weakens both the Empire and Skryim, making them easy targets for a larger, more powerful Thalmor Empire.
