Lately I've been smacking my head into the huge wall of writer's blocks that have mysteriously popped up on my desk. Nothing I write sounds remotely usable, and what I really want to write won't come out.
Tell us your stories of the dreaded dead zone, and how you try to overcome the roadblocks to your writing.

Recently, for me, writer's block has hit a lot. And it's unpredictable; one day I could be writing non-stop, the next I have no ideas whatsoever.
But I don't let that stop me! One way I get rid of writer's block is to write all of my ideas down. No matter how bad or insane they might be, I get them out because from these, you can combine or improve you're ideas to make them better!
I remember coming up with some absolutely horrible ideas for a fanfic, due to writer's block. Writer's block is a funny thing, though. From these terrible ideas, new thoughts came from it! It helped me critique my own work and ultimately become a better writer. It's a pretty complicated process, but once writer's block is gone, the results are worth the trouble. smile

A technique I've found that works... eh, maybe 50% of the time is to just sit down in front of your computer and just "word vomit" until you get into a flow and your word vomit morphs into something decent. After that just keep with the flow for as long as you can. When you're done, edit the first part (if its salvageable), or delete it (if its beyond resuscitation).
Another thing you can do is change your medium for a while. If most of your writing is done on the computer, switch to a notebook and pen. Sometimes just the smallest change can effect your writing in a huge way.

Writers block another good method is to go over what have written before it happened with a friend and bounce ideas of each other till you are inspired preferably someone that is familiar with series and even your style of writing. The only block I have is when to end a chapter most of the time.

My best ideas come out on pencil and paper. Staring at a computer while trying to come up with ideas gives me a bigger headache than if I am staring at a piece of paper.

GARRG! scream
I am suffering from such writers block right now and none of my usual techniques are helping. Garr! Garr! Garr! And what's worse is that this particular fic that I'm working on is SUPPOSED to be the first in a series of fics. Gawd! If I can't even finish the first one, how can I ever finished the rest of them?
RAWRR!

Writer's block can, may, and is a problem for a lot of writers whether they are on FF.net or on other fan/fanfiction sites.
sweatdrop I too have suffered from this aaaannnnddd... Well..
Sometimes it is best to sit back and allow your mind to escape from the current task and.. maybe.. go on to something completely different. smile You may also want to consider asking your fellow writers, betas, and reviewers for some Ideas.. either to help the story along or for a whole new plot line.. or even some... *wait for it* OMAKES! ^_^
Another way to gain inspiration may be to read, watch, or play the series of books, mangas, animes, movies, games, etc that have gotten you started writing in the first place. smile

Writer's block makes me seriously want to punch things. There are times I just sit at my computer and flail and shout at it to make words. My computer is rather hearing-impaired.
One thing I find that helps is to make a list of things that won't happen next. Sometimes goofing around in the impossible can make the probable appear and get you unstuck.

I had the worst kind of writer's block, because I wanted to mix a normal school life with the life of fighting bad guys in another realm that come out in certain amount of times (i.e. cross of Hetalia and Persona), so I had to make up the normal school days. Word vomiting is a good idea, but another one I really like is character choosing. Choose one character you haven't talked about, and just write a whole chapter about them. BAM! Chapter!
Though be careful, cause if done wrong, you may end up with a 100 chapters and no plot sweatdrop

My main problem is that I've been really lazy recently and haven't updated in a very long time. Every time I want to try and update I get distracted.

I am having writers block at the moment and all I can say is that it SUCKS!! What really gets me is that I still have summer left and that means some time to write, when I am in a writing mood. Soon, school will start up again and I my writing time plummets. I really wanted to finish some of my stories this summer, but that never happened. :'(
When I get writers block, I take actual writing breaks. I never force myself to write; I know that if I did, I would have crap on a page. I am a picky writer, so I cannot just write and post. I always think carefully what I want and if I do not like what I have, I do not post my writing, or, I do not even write down the idea at all.
While I am not writing, I am reading or watching movies or TV shows. I have gotten a lot of inspiration by reading or watching movies, so sometimes that helps me. Many times I have watched a movie and then found myself at the computer typing up a new story or the next chapter of one of my stories. The movie may not even have anything to do with my stories, but something sparked my imagination and took away my blockade.
Then, I have the moments where I have ideas, but I am too dang lazy to sit down and write. I hate that. :/

I think I'm one of the luckier ones, in that I haven't been truly blocked in quite some time. I always have something to write--too much to write--it's just usually a matter of what I want to work on then. Most of my trouble is focusing on one project for long enough to finish it. Usually in the middle of the story (I'm talking longer projects now), before the climax, I'll experience some of a block. I can get past those though, by forcing out something of that story (it'll be crap, but I can always edit it, and it's better to have something to edit later than nothing at all) and/or working on a smaller side project. I haven't written anything new really in a couple of weeks, but that is due mostly to laziness, since my last long project, a novella, is finished and I've been unwilling to go full out on anothe project just yet, and haven't bothered to set out time to write recently, even though I have the time. If you force yourself to write, you can always edit it. I wouldn't think that writing and posting that first draft would work that well, for me anyway. But it's funny how, when you have the time, you're blocked, but when you have no time, you want to write. It's funny how that works.

Kitsune No Tsubasa I think I'm one of the luckier ones, in that I haven't been truly blocked in quite some time. But it's funny how, when you have the time, you're blocked, but when you have no time, you want to write. It's funny how that works. I have, jeez, 14 unfinished stories that I actually want to finish, but I can never stay focused on one long enough to do so. :/ I just jump around until I get ideas for the stories. So, basically, I will work on one story when I get inspiration, and usually I can write a few chapters, and then I get stuck. After, I will either have a new story idea, ideas for another story, or nothing at all. Right now, I have random ideas, but they are too silly to work into a story. It's all I think about and it hinders me from working on my current projects. I am one of those people who cannot force themselves to write. If nothing or very little is coming to me, I will just sit there and stare at the screen with nothing. I just cannot do that. I have to be in a writing mood, or else, I will not be able to write.
