Oh hello! You must be here to challenge the pokemon league right? Or was it for the contest cup? Either way! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Professor Alder. My lab is in Alcove City. Trainers who wish to enter into the pokemon league or grand cup come and register here. We're a small region, so we don't get too many trainers; but we're just as tough as the biggest regions out there! Don't underestimate our gym leaders or coordinators! But that's for another time.

I hear you're on your way over to my lab, and will arrive in Phior shortly. That's so exciting! It's so good to see so many young people sharing their dreams with their pokemon. Why, I can still remember giving my daughter her very first pokemon, and when she started her journey. Oh, but look at me just rambling on! Are you coming from Partright City by boat? Or Zephyr Town by zeppelin?

--->Partright
--->Zephyr

Oh goodie! That's always the best way to travel isn't it? Why I remember when I was young how I would dream of--Oh hahaha! Look at me talking about myself again! You'd think I never get any research done like this. But tell me, what kind of pokemon did you bring to the Phior Region? They said a psychic type might be too much for my dear sweet little--oh my! There I go again.

[ pokemon ]

Oh really? I'm sure you two will make an amazing team! All sorts of adventures and challenges, and wait until your first pokemon evolves! You'll never forget that moment!

Let's see... To enter into the Phoenix Cup Pokemon League, you'll need at least five badges to be accepted. And to enter in the Grand Festival, you'll need three ribbons from the Phior Region, with one being won in the current year. Past years will be accepted, but only two prior years' ribbons. It's less to collect, but don't let that fool you! I used to be a stage beauty in my day! And my daughter was even better than me and had almost a perfect winning streak until her final contest before the festival. And now my darling granddaughter is--

Oh dear, would you look at the time! I'll have to get back to working on that project for the gym leader! He's always so fussy when it comes to pokemon evolution. See you soon!

Oh! Have you played the Phoenix Academy plot lines? As you may have noticed, this is a very different story indeed! The layouts are all very different and the gym leaders are posted up with preset rules for challengers to follow. You can look them up in your upgraded pokegear if you ever forget, as well as record some information about any rivals you make in your journey. What? The professor didn't give you any such thing? Here, let me help.

[obtained pokegear!]

By the way, I'm one of the professor's assistants here in the lab. She at least got you registered right? ... Right? Oh dear. Not again. She's actually quite brilliant when it comes to research, but forgetful when it comes to everything else. You may have noticed how easily she gets side tracked. Let me help you out then, and get you registered. All I need is your pokedex. ... What? She didn't give you that either? Oh boy. I'm so sorry about all this. Really! Let me see now... Were you interested in challenging gyms or contests?

--->Gym Badges
--->Contest Ribbons
--->Both

[obtained a pokedex!]

Looks like that's it. Oh ya! I almost forgot. You may have noticed how different this plot is compared to the written story line of Phoenix Academy's main plots. That's because you make the plot in an alternate time frame. ... What's with the look? Haha, let me see if I can explain:

A character you may have played in the academy can still exist here, but take on a different roll. In the guild's main plot, Evangeline Zegale was a student; but here, she's founded a pokemon reserve and is Pendant City's gym leader. Gavin Green and Lili Donovan were two very different majors as students in the Academy plot, but here they're the host and camera crew for our pokemon contests and are much older than where they left off.

In other words, you can keep your character as is, change history, or start them over with completely new goals and pokemon. This doesn't follow the same story or time frame as the main Academy plot. Instead, we're on an alternative time time. You've heard of that at least, right? Like a parallel universe? It's a very similar concept.

This way, players can rotate their thoughts as each half of the guild takes a turn. Pretty neat, huh? Well, good luck to you and your pokemon! Oh, and don't forget: now that you're registered, you have a storage box here at the lab for any excess pokemon. That is, any pokemon you catch that goes over the allowed six. You can exchange pokemon at any pokemon center. Well, see you later!

User ImageUser ImageWait! You over there! Don't leave just yet! ... I'm so glad we caught up to you. I thought you were going to take off before I even got here. You're a player from Phoenix Academy right? It gets a little confusing when the secondary role play opens up, doesn't it? Haha, cause I mean you never know if a post is for the alternate time in this role play, or if it's in the Phoenix Academy time stream. That's why my brother and I wanted to give you this before you go.

[obtained a posting pendant!]

You should put that mark on all your posts to keep them from getting confused with others. That way, you can tell who's also playing in the secondary role play. Pretty cool, right? Oh! My sister forgot to tell you our names! It's a pleasure to meet you.

Sister: -----
Brother: -----

We're pokemon trainers too. My sister has a bubasuar, charmander, and squirtle. But I have a chimchar, turtwig, and piplup. Our parents help out between the safari zone and the pokemon research lab here in Alcove City. So I guess that makes us rivals! Hahaha!

And it looks like my brother and I have a head start on you too with three pokemon each! The gym leaders and contests in this region are a lot harder, believe me! And getting to each town takes a couple of days if you're walking like we do.

My sister wants to take on the gym challenge, but I really prefer doing contests instead. We're always arguing which is the best. But she's right, you know. You may not need as many badges or contest ribbons to enter into the Phior pokemon league or grand cup festival, but that just means the challenges are a lot harder. Here, let me see you pokegear... ... ... There!

[challenge channel installed!]

That challenge channel my brother installed will come in handy. It'll tell you where a new contest is going to open up and will recommend what gyms you should try first. It'll also keep you up to date on any recent gym challenges that happened and the contest winners if you missed out.

We have to go now, but I'm sure we'll see you around. Maybe we'll get to battle at the pokemon league! Or get a chance before then. See ya around!

Yay, see ya!

User ImageHi. I saw you talking to the twins over there and thought I should come over. They tend to get a little overly competitive. Especially sissy! I remember this one time... Huh? Oh ya, I just call her sissy; but mostly just to tease her, hahaha! Me? My name's Jamie Anderson. My dad runs the local PokeMart store for Alcove city.

Sorry, I forgot you only just got here. It's north east of Partright City, or just east of Zephyr Town. I forget we're in the intro still. Haha. My Pokemon's name is Hochi, the Chattot. I like to give names to all the pokemon I catch. Well, that is, if I ever catch anymore. Hochi is my only one, hahaha. But I'm happy to just have him hang around. Do you name your pokemon? Like what?

--->Yes
--->No

I guess every trainer has a different style. You should come by the PokeMart whenever you're in a new town and stalk up on pokemon supplies like potions and antidotes, just in case. ... ... No no, you got it all wrong! I forget that I use to make the same mistakes too. The Pokemon Center has a red roof with a giant P emblem on it so it's easy to spot. But the PokeMart has a blue roof with a regular pokeball emblem on it. A little more subtle, but easy enough to find. ... Huh? You mean you've never seen a regular old pokeball? I think I have some left. Let me see... Ya! They're right here!

[obtained 3 pokeballs]

If you want to catch new pokemon, battle them first to tire them out and then throw a pokeball at them. If it works, the pokeball should click closed. If not, it'll just get tossed back to you and you can try again. There's a bunch of different kinds of pokeballs out there, and even a specialty store in Adell! Pretty cool huh? Oh ya! I almost forgot! We were doing a PokeMart promo anyways, so here.

[Obtained Premier Ball]

That premier ball works just as well as a regular pokeball, the only real difference is it's coloring. We usually give one away when a trainer comes and buys a bunch of pokeballs as a free-bee. But our real promotion is for our latest import. Since you're new to the region and just starting out, I guess it won't hurt if I share just one with you.

[obtained the Heal Ball]

Heal balls work great if you're lost and find a pokemon that's badly hurt. A heal ball will heal the pokemon it catches over time. In some situations, a heal ball could really save a pokemon's life! Great to have on hand if you're no where near a Pokemon Center right? I think it's cool that each Pokemon center is run by a Nurse Joy; makes remembering names a lot easier. ... What do I mean? Um... I guess you'd have to see it first. It's the same with Officer Jennys. You seem pretty smart, so I'm sure you'll figure it out.

PokeMarts, however, are run by different people from different towns. The Phior region is small, so a lot of our PokeMart prices are half of what other regions' are. Potions, pokeballs, and even Nectars! ... ... ... AHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry, I thought you were serious when you asked what a nectar was. ... ... ... What? You mean you're really serious!? You've never heard of pokemon Nectar!? My friend, have you been living in a cave all your life? Nectars are the Phior regions signature pokemon supply product! Other shoppes might have lemonade or soda pop just for pokemon, but they don't come close to Nectar! There's a variety of flavors that pokemon love, and they're really good for your pokemon too!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Coconut flavor wakes a pokemon who's been hit by sleep powder or other sleep attacks, and can make your pokemon feel just a little bit faster (minor speed boost).
Kiwi is great for healing ice burns, and can make your pokemon endure a little more (minor defense boost).
Peach-Apricot help sooth burns and heal quickly, and your pokemon might feel a little stronger when it uses it's own type attacks. (minor special attack boost).
Banana-Strawberry will get your pokemon out of being paralyzed, and it might look like your pokemon can take a few more hits (minor special defense boost).
Pinapple is great for combating poisons, and your pokemon might feel a little more healthy overall (minor health boost).
Then finally, there's mango, which helps with things like confusion, and your pokemon might feel a bit stronger than it used to (minor attack boost).
Oh! I almost forgot about Pear flavor, which helps a pokemon recover its energy after a battle like any other potion. But Nectar works from the inside so a lot of people think its better.

So you can see why the local trainers here prefer Nectar over the other pokemon supplies. Pokemon seem happier when they get Nectar as opposed to being stuffed with medicines and vitamins. Not to mention it saves room in your pack when you travel, and even humans can drink it for a boost of energy! But it does get a little expensive... for the price of a hyper potion, you could get only one nectar. So you see why a lot of trainers who come from different regions aren't really Nectar enthusiasts. It's different from normal and costs a little more than some budgets.

Let's see... Any more advice... Hm... Oh ya! Be sure to tell Nurse Joy at the pokemon center that it's your first time in one, ever! She's really nice and she'll even give you a potion to take with you just in case. But don't think you can pull that off more than one time. Sissy tried that and got a good scolding from Nurse Joy. Besides, it's not nice to try and take advantage of a pokemon center like that. Trainers already get free meals, a free room for the night if there's any left, and a free meal for being registered trainers. Trying to wriggle Nurse Joy out of potions is low. Don't make me tell you again!

... ... ... Wha--!? Crush on Nurse Joy!? No, no! You got it all wrong! I'm not even blushing! I'm just surprised you would even suggest that! I, I gotta go now! See ya!

Program: Pokemon storage [accessed]
Beginning tutorial...

User ImageUser ImageTrainers registered for contests or the pokemon league may carry up to six pokemon in their party. Other pokeballs may lock after catching a new pokemon that exceed the party limit. Pokemon can be transferred into a storage unit at any pokemon center using the call screens or transfer computers available in all pokemon center lobbies. To transfer pokemon, place the pokeball up right on the transfer panel and press the transport button. All transferred pokemon and pokeballs will be sent to Professor Alder's laboratory. The pokemon will be cared for at the laboratory and can be switched out at anytime when accessed by a transport computer.User Image
