I'd wonder about that- because it seems to me that the way a pantheon is represented could influence people in ways that aren't part of the gods calling us. I mean- look at how many people think they're Wiccan without knowing the first thing about the Wiccan Lord and Lady just because of how they are represented.
Though that could also be people jumping to conclusions about that.
I think that's what I was trying to say- like, I think relationships with gods come in a couple different forms, there's what is most common which is general worship: light a candle, say a prayer but other than that, it's kind of the "mass email" of spirituality. That doesn't make it bad- it's just not personal. I was thinking one of the reasons that seems bad to people these days is becuse of confusion about what a patron is or does in a person's spiritual life. I've read some posts about how the Greek gods interacted as patrons, and I know what it means to have a Loa on your head, and what it means to be called to be Wiccan and I think that somehow those ideas all got jumbled together in paganism.
Then there's dedication- where you're called to serve them in a specific way that's more personal.
I guess I think I see some people confusing "I like this stuff" because it's the surface things that offen get misrepresented with "This stuff is speaking to a part of me that's important".
