Cycling Road has four exits:
Partright, Alcove, Zephyr, and Musing City
The road was built for trainers to get around from one metropolis to another quickly and easily; without the hassle of running into wild pokemon, or the chance of getting lost.
However, no road is free from other trainers and battles

[From Partright Cycling Road]

"I'm returning this bike," Lydia said at the bike shack, the clerk nodding as he looked for a form for her to sign.

"Did you hear about what happened at that amusement park?" Said a girl as she rolled her bike towards cycling road.
"Ya, it's so strange." Replied the girl next to her. "The pokemon there have never acted like that before. I wonder what happened."
"The professor and even the gymleader have been there a lot to try and figure it out. I heard Professor Alder rarely goes back to her lab since the accident. She's been spending almost all day and night there."

Lydia looked over at the troubled pair. 'Professor Alder's not at her lab?' That didn't sound right at all. Why wouldn't a professor return to her lab? "Excuse me," Lydia walked up boldly, "But do you know where I can find Professor Alder?" She asked. The two girls gave a questionable look and blinked.

"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...!"

Aina chanted those two words as she flew down the hill on her bike, her steering faltering occasionally and threatening to send her flying off the bike at break-neck speeds. She'd foolishly chosen Cycling Road as her method of getting to Alcove City instead of taking a detour, in spite of her lack of biking experience, and now severely regretted it.

Inside of the basket on the front of the bike was Snubbull, who's face flapped in the wind as it tried to read the map its trainer handed it. The small Normal-type had no idea what it was doing though, even though it had insisted it knew otherwise, and fumbled around the large piece of folded up paper as to try and find the right way to look at it.

Amidst tossing the large map around however, the wind went and picked it up and threw it into Aina's face, totally blocking her vision. If she wasn't enough a hazard already, she was now! She wailed loudly as her bike careened down the hill, blindly navigated by it's terrified owner. If she braked, she'd be sent flying, and if she didn't, she could hit anything! There was no way of getting this map off her face going at this speed, either! If she let go, she'd most certainly fall off of her bike! Lempicka cried out loudly in distress as it held onto the side of the basket it sat in, looking for a good opportunity to abandon ship, but with no luck.

As thoughts raced in and out of her head so fast as she sped down the hill, a wild Ponyta made it's way out of the bush, curious itself as to what the noise coming nearer was. As it chewed on some young shoots it had eaten from a nearby tree, it's mouth nearly dropped.

Not even the nutritiously fast Fire-type had enough time to get out of the way, and wound up being struck head on by the blind biker. All three, all equally terrified, went flying a few feet; the bike breaking into pieces and scattering across the road.

Several moments passed by before any three began to move. “
Ugh...” Came Aina's voice, clearly pained. “Snubbull, I swear to God, if you weren't as miserable as I was I'd...

She paused, feeling something stir underneath her. Upon investigating, she noted she was on top of a clearly unconscious Ponyta. “
... Oh...” She paused. “Um... Thanks for breaking my fall?” She spoke, unsure how one would even begin going about apologizing for what she had done. She retrieved no response, and sighed, somewhat disheartened. She then went into her bag, and pulled out a Heal Ball. “Well, I owe it to you to at least get you all fixed up, and well...” She looked around at the pieces of her bike, scattered nearby. “I'll be needing a ride own, I suppose.

Aina tapped the ball on Ponyta's side, energizing it and drawing it into the small capture device. She had evidently thought little into the situation however, and fell once more when it disappeared into the ball. To make matters worse, Snubbull had been underneath the large Pokemon, and once freed, was only flattened once more, this time by it's trainer. Both grunted in pain, but Holly stayed focus on the Heal Ball, which had fallen a few feet away from her. Luckily, it wriggled around only three times before blinking red, signaling it's capture.

Getting up with surprising ease, she smiled lightheartedly. “
It's not the way I envisioned my first capture, but, oh well!” She lamented, looking down to Snubbull, who was now getting up. She laughed a bit, and kneeled down once more, where she went and took out a Full Restore from her bag. Snubbull was fine for the most part, surprisingly enough, but had a few scratches Aina didn't want to see get infected. “This is going to sting a little, okay?” She cooed, beginning to administer the medicine. Snubbull let out a little cry as it's trainer did so, but stayed still and let them finish peacefully.

There we go!” Aina congratulated, rubbing it'd head affectionately. She then went and picked it up with one and; looking at the Heal Ball in the other. “Now... What to name you, what to name you...” She paused, and stayed quiet for a good minute before her expression lit up. “I think Holie sounds good!” She declared.

Aina went and tossed the Pokeball to the ground, letting out the Fire-type. It let out a boisterous cry and bucked up into the air; analyzing the surroundings curiously as it landed, almost curious as to what had happened.

Laughing a bit, Aina stepped up nervously. "
I'm really sorry for hitting you." She began sheepishly, almost blushing a bit. "It looks like the Heal Ball did it's trick, though - you look as good as new!" She complimented, praying she could get on good enough terms with this Pokemon that it would let her on it's back. Fortunately for her, it let out a happy cry in return, seeming happy enough just to be in good health once more.

Now, Theo was casually strolling along the side of Cycling Road, going at a slow steady pace up to Zephyr City. In the meantime, Litwick was enjoying herself just resting in his hoodie. Basically, the two of them were just minding their business, when they heard the continuous stream of "oh dear, oh dear, oh dear" coming from another bicyclist. To make matters worse, a Ponyta had the sense to step out infront of the girl; before the pink-haired man could say "watch out!" they'd already collided into eachother. He cringed a little as he watched the collision helplessly. ”Ouch... That's gotta hurt...” Turning his bike around, he rode his way over to where the pink-haired girl had crashed into the Ponyta, whom at that point both seemed to be recovering fine from the crash.

Unable to see the girl's face, he approached from behind -though was certain he'd made some noise so as not to completely startle her!- and cautiously asked her,
"H-h-hey, miss, are you alright? That looked like a pretty hard crash just now..." He wasn't normally one to just walk up to somebody and talk to them, but he was genuinely concerned for her well-being!

Aina turned around curiously as someone approached her about the crash. The man was some what taller than her, standing what she guessed must have been six feet tall, sporting a handsome face, pink hair, and amber colored eyes. He was dressed casually with a Litick resting inside his hood, and seemed noticeably worried as to whether or not she was okay.

Aina laughed. “
I'll survive.” She chuckled, turning to Holie and caressing their face. Lucky for her, the Pokemon seemed forgiving enough to let her do so, and evidently enjoyed it as their eyes began to squint affectionately. “I was more worried about this little guy here, though!” She exclaimed, turning to the mystery boy with an expression of relief. “It's a good thing I had a Heal Ball – I would have felt awful if I'd brought them into Nurse Joy in the same they were in!” She explained, crossing her arms and chuckling lightly.

A white blur caught her attention from the corner of her eye, and when Aina went to look at what it was, she saw her map flying away as her hat had back at the airport. She would have chased it if wasn't already long gone, and could only stare on with an expression of horror. Her map, gone! She knew nothing, absolutely nothing, about this region, and her only guide was gone!

Aina turned back to the boy; her hands dropping so they were clasped together at her front; her thumbs twiddling. “
If I could ask you a favor though...” She began, somewhat nervously. She was more desperate for a guide than she was nervous however, and managed to spit her words out, though they were evidently somewhat awkward. “If you knew you way to the Alcove Pokemon lab, that would be great.

As the girl turned to face him, his eyes fell upon a beautiful, kind looking person, with purplish eyes, and lovely pink hair. "She sure is pretty..." Theo thought to himself, though choosing to keep his dignity and not let it be known just how pretty he thought she was. Then of course, fate seemed to have a pretty cruel sense of humor, because just as what it seemed to be her setting on her way again... the wind blew her map away. Rather awkwardly, she twiddled her thumbs and asked him in a somewhat adorable manner if he could help her find her way to the Alcove Lab.

His sweat dropped a little. Arceus... She was hopeless! Still, he smiled friendlily at her, nodding.
”Yeah sure, miss, 'know where the lab's at.” Motioning with his hand for her to follow him, he escorted the pink-haired girl off of cycling road towards the lab.

The sound of the bike wheels hummed as they started off. Lydia hadn't realized just how much it was to rent them--no wonder Page didn't want it to be returned late! Voltz seemed to enjoy itself though, with the crisp breezes the bike made running through its fur. It seemed to forgive its trainer, more so than Lydia could forgive herself, and eager to face the next challenge to grow stronger. She still felt terrible. 'How am I gonna even win any badges or catch any pokemon, if I can't look after Voltz?' She sighed, dozing off a moment until she felt herself drifting.

Once Upon A Nightmare!

The day was clear, perfect for the beach or taking a bike ride. And looking forward at Musing City, the weather looked brighter than ever! Warm and relaxed. It wouldn't be too long of a wait. Along the way, she glanced over at another bike rider, Humming along with her pokegear, and her smeargle sitting happily in the basket in much the same way Voltz did. They pulled up right along side Lydia, seeming not to mind. Actually, they didn't seem to notice Lydia at all until the pause between lyrics came up and the girl looked over with a smile. "I like music like this," She said. "It really picks up your mood, don't you think?" She chuckled behind her lips.

"Uh..." Lydia didn't know what to say or think, only wanting to stay parallel to this girl. Then the Lyrics came back and she went to humming again. In a weird way, she was right. There was something about the light hearted beat and calming lyrics that made the day seem brighter, warmer, more relaxed. Even Voltz smiled at the tune, and soon the basket pokemon bobbed their heads in unison to the song.

"So where you headed?" She asked. The song was over, or all the singing parts were anyways.

"Oh, um, Musing City," Lydia finally came up with awkwardly.

"Oh, so are you going to challenge the gymleader?" The girl seemed excited.

"Well, no, not this time," Lydia admitted.

"That's too bad. The gym leader's always in a bad mood until he gets into a tough battle. My Name's Alalla, by the way."

"Lydia," Lydia replied a little curiously.

"I think I understand why our gym leader is happiest when he battles," Alalla went on. She wasn't too highly curious about Lydia. The same couldn't be said for Lydia herself. Alalla seemed far too deep in her own happy aura and thoughts to inspect the clumsy trainer beside her. "When he's battling, he seems so connected to his pokemon. It really shows how well they trust each other, win or lose. I think he wants to share it with the rest of the world; he just doesn't know how, so he gets frustrated." She stopped. And Lydia had to admit that what Alalla said made her think. "Well, this is my off ramp right ahead. Bye!" She waved. "I'm Glad we met Lydia! Remember not to look away from the paths when in the forests!"

"Thanks!" Lydia gave a wave back just before the odd girl disappeared. "I wonder what that was about. Not looking away," She muttered, looking on at the road.

As Sara traveled down the cycling road on her way to Alcove City she knew she'd be there soon knowing that cycling roads were the fastest way to get from one town to another. Noticing a few trainers Sara saw the occasional battle along the way. Deciding it was best to avoid battling while she was without much of anything she tried not to make eye contact.

"Don't worry Venonat we're almost to Alcove." Sara said it what appeared to be herself. In fact she was really talking to Venonat within his pokeball. She couldn't help but talk to someone who else was so going to talk to right? It wasn't like there was anyone around.

Coming closer to Alcove Sara could know see the exit up ahead. "Finally..." she muttered as she made her way over to it. Getting off the bike she walked it over to the bike return and headed into the city.

Stopping at the pokemon center Sara and Venonat had something to eat before heading out again on the Cycling Road. They needed to have lunch after all so it was only appropriate. "Done you ready Venonat?" she asked as she looked at her bug pokemon. "Ven venonat." (Yeah I'm ready to go.) he spoke as he looked down at his empty bowl of food. "Alright hit the road then. We'll probably get to Musing and stay the night there until morning." she told Venonat as she got up from her seat. The two headed out with full stomachs and excitement about what they would see in Musing City. Getting on cycling road Sara returned Venonat before heading out and started off towards the next City. She couldn't wait to get there luckily it wasn't that far down the cycling road.
