- ■ - Name - Elladora Flora Philpott.
- ■ - House - Gryffindor.
- ■ - Age/Year - Fifteen / Fifth year.
- ■ - Appearance - Elladora has a hearty look about her, with a buxom, shapely build. She has slim waist and short legs with brown eyes, a small chin, and pale skin. Her hair falls in brown curls past her shoulders. There is a gap between her front teeth. When she isn't in her school uniform, she dresses modestly, often in simple dresses. She is rather lax in keeping up with the extreme beautification rituals other "girly girls" seem so obsessed with and will not get upset over a zit or two--after all, there's always a potion or ointment for it. At least, that is what she will tell herself when she applies her make-up. She is a Plain Jane without any make-up on, so she makes it a point to have it on all the time.
- ■ - Speaking Style - She speaks as any normal girl would from Ireland, despite her being far from the normal girl. Her accent is Northern Ireland, but is little exaggerated. Instead of using curse words, she will censor herself with other words or phrases, seeing as her parents punish the use of curse words. She is, after all, a delicate flower.
- ■ - Demeanor - She displays a strong will, independence, and courage. She will stand up to anyone who has trespassed one of her morals; she cannot tolerate injustice and therefore she will always fight it and defend the weak. She exudes a warmth and friendliness that attracts most people; she is willing to give anyone a chance. Her bubbly personality is hard to ignore. Elladora is trusting to the point of naiveté and with this comes fearlessness and a certain vulnerability. Her innocence is sometimes enough to cover her passionate (aggressive) behavior. She possesses confidence and the innate resources to deal with new ideas and situations. Her gift is that she is always a child at heart and the world is a magical place for her.
She would like to think of herself as dainty, often times trying to act on that, but, at her heart, she is a vivacious young woman. She is rash and impatient, quite often owning up to the reckless nature so commonly associated with Gryffindors. She is a doer, not a talker: act first, ask questions and/or have doubts later. She lives life to be in the action, with little heed of what it could cost her or others. She tends to see her needs above all others, while not intending to be selfish. Her vanity and desire for materialistic comfort can be off-putting to others. She is not particularly forgiving, despite trusting in others so easily. Once her goodwill is lost, it is lost forever. Elladora is possibly a tad too boy-crazy; she "falls in love" easily and winds up heartbroken.
- ■ - Best Qualities - She has a natural talent with herbology and possesses a strong affinity with flying creatures and horses and horse-like creatures. From a young age she has been interested in charms, so she has devoted most of her attention to those classes. She is able to overcome difficult situations and stress with ease, not letting things get to her; her mother calls this trait "nerves of a horklump," something from her father's side of the family. She also seems to show potential as a duelist.
- ■ - Flaws - She has little love for Potions--and it shows, quite frankly. She struggles with Transfiguration, as well. Elladora, though filled with good intentions, tends to find herself in some awful predicaments. She suffers from the Philpott Curse, something found in almost everyone on her father's side. Its effect? Being a magnet for trouble. Since she gets over things easily, she has a hard time consoling or relating to people who take a while to deal with problems as she does not understand how they can hold on to it and not just get over it. Because of accidents she had the misfortune of experiencing in Flying lessons, she would rather avoid broomsticks; she is bound to lose control of the thing at some point. She can become a rather jealous person, namely when it comes to boys.
- ■ - History - Elladora is the product of a loving pure-blood family. She has two younger sisters and two older brothers. Both her parents, Gwenora Stockwell and Elian Philpott, come from wizarding families who make their living as merchants. The Stockwells provide herbs and other various herbology supplies to Slug & Jiggers Apothecary in Diagon Alley, whilst the Philpotts have been breeding and training select owls for Eeylops Owl Emporium for a several centuries now. This is what Elladora's family does, and they do it better than anyone else--don't try to tell her any different. Her father had taken up the business when his father retired to the warm climates in Greece.
The family resides in a quaint cottage in countryside of Antrim Country in Northern Ireland. They live in the Lost Town of Dunluce, a town near Dunluce Castle that is masked from the muggle world in the form of ruins. They have just enough space for all of them, but their home is on a massive expanse of farmland, with no muggle settlements nearby. The family isn't rich, but Elladora and her siblings do not lack for anything. Both parents passed their morals on to all their children, trying to raise them as responsible and independent. From a young age, Elladora learned the value of a sickle; she learned to take care of not only herself but others by raising baby owls. The Philpotts rarely hired help: the best owls were raised with Philpott hands and Philpott hearts, her father would always say.
When Elladora first got her letter from Hogwarts, she was thrilled: she loved going to Diagon Alley whenever she could, so that was the only thing she could think about. It did not cross her mind that she would be leaving her home and her family and not returning until Christmas time. She had never left her family and home for longer than a fortnight. Sure, her youngest brother, Finbar, would be there (he was a fourth year in Hufflepuff at the time), but she wouldn't have anyone else; no other wizarding families she knew had children her age. Finbar sat with her in the cabin on the Hogwarts Express to try to console her, but he left her halfway through the ride to hang out with his own friends. It seemed she would be making the journey alone. She cried and cried the entire ride, scaring, annoying, or flat out amusing the children in her cabin. To this day, there are still those who will not let her live it down.
Despite all her fears and tears during the train ride, when it came time for the Sorting Ceremony, Elladora's horklump nerves were finally starting to set in and she sat down on the stool with a brave face, if not a pounding heart, puffy, red eyes, and trembling knees, to have the Sorting Hat place her in Gryffindor. Her first couple weeks were a little shaky with the ever present homesickness getting the best of her, but, in time, she made friends and then more friends and still more friends. She became one of the more popular girls in Gryffindor: her personality and her humor attracted others like flies to honey; but that same personality that won her many friends, also gave her several enemies (not everyone likes such a flirtatious, shallow girl). She quickly found her niche in herbology classes, having a mother who spewed information on the subject like a spout spews tea. And with practice, Charms began to come easily to her. Being from Gryffindor made things both easy and difficult: making friends was a breeze, but being in the house of crimson and gold seemed to make her and other Gryffindors targets of Slytherin disdain.
Her first four years ended up being full of mistrials, no thanks to the family curse. She had racked up a decent amount of detentions due to silly mistakes on her part; she had potions blow up in her face, singeing her eyebrows and bangs off; she had fallen off her broom numerous times during flying lessons, ending up with bumps and bruises all over; she had nearly failed Transfiguration twice, barely scraping by with the help of a friend; she had been pranked by Peeves on several occasions, one of them with her winding up in detention; she would consistently be late for curfew and, thanks to the Fat Lady, was locked out a few nights. But with the bad comes the good: she made many friends from all over the UK; she became more confident in her Herbology skills; she learned to harness her magical abilities a little more each year; she became one of the best in her year at Charms. She has survived to make it to her fifth year at Hogwarts, with both of her sisters now attending. But her potions still tend to explode.
- ■ - Wand - Aspen. 10 ¾ inches. Dragon heartstring. Slightly springy. Its handle is decorated with swirling engravings.
- ■ - Hobbies - Gardening and herbology. Practicing charms. Watching Quidditch, her favorite team being the Ballycastle Bats (she would never dream of playing herself). Baking, though she should probably just charm the whole kitchen to do it without her interference. A warning: don't eat her muffins. But she'll get it eventually! Teaching her owl, Pretzel, new tricks. She enjoys trying out the foods of the muggle world.
- ■ - Patronus - A piebald Irish Cob.
