What else is new. So I found this chap named Sai. Sai is an Aedric deity of luck. He was apparently responsible for the luck of the world pre Skyrim. He was always obscure, but he did his job. Now I like Nocturnal, but I never thought Luck was her realm. Ever. The reason she was the goddess of thieves was she hid them. That was it. They didn't even worship her, they just tried real hard not to piss her off too much. The luck stuff was this guy. Now come to find out there not only was a luck god all along but he's actually best buds with Ebonarm God of Battle and War... Seriously Beth? Where were these guys during the Oblivion Crisis?

Well since the reference to Sai comes from a book that appears in the game Daggerfall, it might be assumed that Sai could have been a local god of the Bretons, before the Nine Divines was introduced? The same with Ebonarm?
We know that each race has their own gods before the Nine become the dominant faith.
With the mention of "Reliquaries dedicated to Sai can be found throughout the Iliac Bay region." makes me think its a Berton thing, sort of like how the different Dunmer Saints of the Tribunal are worshiped.

Except the Ebonarm page says that there are fighters guild branches in Hammerfel that serve as mosques to Ebonarm too.

Well the mosques are in and around the Alik'r Desert, which is within The Iliac Bay area, so it could be assumed that the Reguard of that area could have adopted Ebonarm as a God from the Bretons. Or maybe it was part of their own patheon they brought over from Yokuda, and the Bretons adopted him and later on Sai. In a way Sai is similar to Tiber Septim he was mortal and when he died he became the god Talos?

I think alot of these old bits of lore come from the D&D roots. A lot of them smell of Player Characters.

That could be it, Daggerfall was a long time ago, maybe they felt it better to recon some lore to make things "better" or replace some stuff. Then again I'm sure not even Beth can remember every mention of every creature/god/person that the ingame books mention. Since I don't think that book in particualr made it into the MW/OB/Skyrim.

I wish they'd try though. They have a living breathing world that they are bleeding.
