Remarque liked the park.
It wasn’t just the nostalgia he felt, wandering the paths he’d taken months ago when he was first starting out, it was that it was just a nice place to gather energy. It was peaceful; you didn’t have to worry about someone trying to shank you in the same way you had to worry when gathering energy from the back alleyways of the darker districts of Destiny City.
It was slightly less productive, however, both in energy available and what he could filch from the pockets of those he happened across. It was also slightly less moral to rob someone who looked like they were up to no good, but Remarque wasn’t exactly one struggling with right or wrong. He did what he wanted, morality aside.
Tonight, however, he hadn’t felt terribly keen on doing any hard work, and he’d caught more than a few order aligned auras in the area he usually haunted. Not that he was afraid of a good battle, but given the sheer number of them, he’d have been a fool to test his luck. He’d drifted to the park where, albeit, he still felt something in the area, however it was a given that this place seemed much tamer. Plus, with mirrors hidden all over the place, he could always make a quick getaway if need-be.
He wasn’t out for blood this evening, just a little tame energy collecting. He found it easily enough—the homeless population never ceased to amaze him. They ought to find a safer place to sleep than the park, as it made them damn easy targets for him. He’d drained one earlier and was currently doing so to another. Remarque wasn’t taking enough to be particularly debilitating, but enough to make sure the man in front of him slept through the night—and maybe a fair portion of tomorrow.
There was no guilt in his actions, as he watched the little mirror wraith dart through the target, sapping energy until it was bloated and hobbling back into the shard of glass it came from. He seemed amused as it disappeared back to mirror space and then looked to the man on the ground. He seemed comfortable enough (or so Remarque told himself) and so he brushed his hands together as if wiping them clean of his handiwork and turned, only slightly interested in the strange auras in the area.
He wasn't sure if he wanted to track the energy source down or just keep searching for more energy, though in the end he figured he could do both at the same time and set off, more alert now than before.
