Suzume hummed happily. Her daughter Sayuri was about 3 in a half, soon turning four years old and today was her and Shii’s second wedding anniversary. They decided to wait to get married after Sayuri was born. Though life had its ups and down and getting pregnant with Sayuri wasn’t exactly what she had planned, she knew life could have been much worse and wouldn’t trade the life she had now for anything in the world.

For their anniversary, they found someone watch Sayuri while they went
anyway for the weekend and Suzume was looking forward to it. The hardest part of having a child was spending time with the one she loved. Soon enough, Shii walked inside the house, handing her a bouquet of red roses.

“Hey Suzu-chan, I just dropped Sayuri at the babysitters. Are you ready?”

“Yes, I have everything packed” Suzume smiled brightly. “So where are we going?”

“You’ll see”

After going out to eat for diner at a nice restaurant and walking along the beach, they headed back to the hotel that they were staying in.

“Thank you anata” Suzume kissed Shii.

“I knew you would like it.” Wrapping one hard around her, kissing back as he opened the both and both stumbled into the room, wanting to make the most of the time they had together.

After their getaway, Suzume went to a café with Karui. The two girls always liked to talk and share just about everything. Karui was very outspoken. Though Suzume was also close friends with Tenten, she hardly sees her as Tenten still lived in the leaf village. Suzume had known Karui well as both grew up in Kumo. Suzume often teased Karui about Omoi, which often ended up with Karui yelling, but she wasn’t surprised when she heard that they ended up together.

“So, how did your anniversary go?” Karui to pry from Suzume, who was sitting across from her.

“It was amazing! It is nice to get away and send time with Shii. Thanks for watching Sayuri.”

“No problem. And go on; why not share all the juicy details.” Karui replied.

he two girls continued to talk and hangout for the rest of day. Both had no missions to go on so they took the day to spend away from their families. Once it was late afternoon, the two said their goodbyes.

Shii on hand hung out with Darui, bringing his little girl with him. Sayuri was a daddy’s girl, which he couldn’t help but be proud about.

It’s been about three weeks after their anniversary and Suzume was feeling miserable. She was hoping it was just something temporary though part of her had a feeling it wasn’t just a bad case of food poisoning or a virus. She leaded against the tub, sitting on the bathroom floor as Shii came in and handed her a cup of tea, hoping it would help a bit.

“So how are you feeling” He asked as he sat down next to her

“Miserable “ Suzume managed to say.

The good thing about being married to a medic nin was that she would be taken care of then ill or injured. She tried taking a few sips of her tea before speaking up again.

“I hadn’t felt this bad since I was pregnant with Sayuri.”

“Maybe you’re finally pregnant again.”

At first when he found about Suzume was having his baby, he wasn’t too sure how he thought about it or whether or not he wanted kids but once Sayuri was born, he didn’t mind having another child. In fact, he tried everything to have another one, but so far nothing had worked.

“I don’t know, maybe. You think we can handle another child?” Suzume asked, though nervous about that, she couldn’t help but smile.

“I think we’ll be o.k., we’ll just have to make it work if we are going to have another baby.” Shii kissed Suzume’s forehead.

“At least this time we don’t have to hide anything and look on the bright side? Your chest will increase in size” Smirking as he said that.

Suzume playfully hit him after he made that remark.

Suzume waited for the test to show the results, it seemed like an eternity. After a new moments, she looked at the test to see what it said. A bright smile appeared on her face as she read it.

“Shii!” she shouted enthusiastically. “Look!” She showed him the test she held in her hand as he walked up her. “It’s positive, we’re going to have a baby!”

All Shii could do was wrap his arms around her, giving her a kiss.

It has been a rough few months but they were both looking forward to the new addition to the family, though Sayuri was still too young to fully understand. Suzume was now in her second trimester, about 15 weeks along, and was going to a doctor’s appointment.

Suzume laid down on one of the exam tables, Shii right beside her as the technician tried to find the heartbeat before looking at the sonogram.

“Excuse me” she said, as she left to get the doctor.

Shii had a concern look on his family. Being a medic nin, he often knew what this meant. Suzume was unsure about what was going on, but Shii squeezed on of her hands, trying to reassure her. After a few minutes, a doctor came in and looked at the sonogram.

“I’m sorry” he eventually spoke up. “I’m afraid you lost the pregnancy. Though you can try again after a months.” He then walked out of the room to leave the two alone to take in the news.

Suzume was devastated about the fact she lost the baby, what’s worse was how the doctor just said that they could always try again later as if it would help make for it. She broke down and cried as once again Shii felt helpless, not being able to do anything for her.

A few months later, after trying once again, Suzume was being coming frustrated and went to see a fertility specialist. She couldn’t help but feel sadden at the news she gotten after words, that she had a, endometriosis, which made it hard for her to conceive and that there was a fifty percent of having a miscarriage if she ever did get pregnant again.
Shii just told her it would be o.k. once she told him, though she knew he was upset about it too but it was out of their hands.

Suzume sat outside, staring at the sky, wondering if it was just meant to but looking back with Sayuri, she realized just how blessed she really was.
