spencer reid had been through more than any teenager should go through. A divorce, having no father to see anymore, a absuive mom and being bullied but he was a genius graduating early. Now at 22 things seemed to build back up with him getting married and having a daughter living good. Yet again nothing can stay perfect, his wife was murdered and he was kidnapped for two months eventually being found but not the same. he went back with his daughter but he never was the same. Now he fears he is going to go insane but there is a light to help, his daughter ______. can she help him face the demons no matter how young she appears to be or will he go crazy?  Cadence 4 years Cadence is a shy girl and doesn't have many friends. After her father went missing she was put in foster care until he returned. She never knew her mother but knew that her father loved her. She is a daddy's girl and knows he will do anything to protect her.

Spencer jolted awake from another nightmare he had. This time it was about his kidnapping. he glanced over at the clock seeing it read 7:45, he smiled and thought "doing better with sleep". Spencer took a few more deep breaths trying to get the imagesout and then got up from the bed silently not wanting to wake his daughter Candence up early then she needed to be.

Cadence woke up a couple hours later and went to make her breakfast and a little something for Spencer. She had not gone outside to play since her foster home. She wanted her daddy to be able to work and take care of her instead of her taking care of him but knew that he would be able to eventually. She had not had a childhood yet but wanted to so badly that sometimes she cried at night silently so Spencer couldn't hear her. A tear ran down her cheek as she stood there in the kitchen cooking and cleaning. SHe sighed though to amke it go away and put his breakfast on the table. She was homeschooled so she would be able to take care of him. She missed her old daddy though. She remembered the days of him kissing her injuries and hugging her tightly to keep her from crying. She missed those days alot and had alot of pain store in her heart but didn't want him to worry about her.

Spencer sighed and opened the curtains. He sighed looking out at the other kids out there playing. He knew she needed to get out there she was young and needed to not do all of this now. Spencer got dressed then walked out tp the bathroom. He did his hair combing it neatly to the side and sighed when he saw the dark circles and how pale he had gotten. Spencer quickly washed his face and brushed his teeth then rushed downstairs. It hurt him to see her doing to much, he wasnt being a good father and he knew it. Spencer found her in the kitchen. He picked her up and said "morning sweetheart, why dont we go outside and relax after we eat, im going to go see stacie later". All he would really do was read one of the many books he had or he would worry.Stacie, his therapist had scheduled him to come in if he had a bad nightmare which he did.

Caadence then ugged him with a fake smile on her face and said "We don't have to daddy. I have to do wash and everything." In reality she wanted to cry but was also scared of the outside world. She rarely ever went outside unless she went shopping with him. She knew that she didn't have any friends or hardly any so she didn't really have much of a reason to go outside. She was one of those kids who prefered the company of others and had been so lonely since Spencer came back from being kiddnapped. It was hard for her more than it was him to be inside all the time since kids were meant to be playful and fun. She then hugged him again and wished she could let out all of her pain and tell him how she felt but for some reason she didn't. It was hard for her to show it as well. SHe didn't want him to worry but she was really tired but was used to being like this. Ever since her mother was murdered and he had been abducted, She started to show signs that she was having trouble showing any kind of emotion around others. She was only 4 and she was depressed and lonely.

Spencer shook his head as she hugged him and said "sweetheart, i dont want you to, you dont have to today". Looking at his daughter like this made him want to cry more than anything. She was to young to have gone through all of that and he felt terrible for being miserable. Spencer gave a slight smile and said "how about we go into the backyard all your toys our back there and we can play a game, no work today". Spencer truly wanted to go back to being a father and seeing her happy but something in him wasnt going to be the same. He wanted to urge her to show him something but ever since he came back, he saw that it was going to be as hard for her as it was for him.Spencer now saw something he the genius couldnt solve or fix easy, his four year old daughter was depressed and lonely.

"Okay." Cadence said and smiled at her father. Then she stayed close to him snugging against him for comfort like she used to. She missed the old him and wanted the old daddy back. "Daddy I love you." She said and hugged him wanting to cry alittle but didn't not wanting him to know how sad and lonely she was.

Spencer said "i love you too". and smiled a way that he hadnt in a long time and they ate breakfast. As soon as they were done, spencer placed the dishes in the sink and carried candence outside. The backyard was nice and rather large, plenty of room for to play at. Spencer smiled and said "this was the place that me, you and mommy used to always be, candence". Sadness took him over slight at the mention of his wife but he put on a fake smile so she would be happy. He put her down and pointed to the big box by the fence. He said "over there in the box, all of your toys are there so you can play". He sighed and said "candence honey, do you want a pet like maybe a dog"? He wanted to try to get back to his office at work even if he did all of it at home, but he was hesistant on if he was ready or not after everything and he wondered how he could teach her.

Cadence laughed as they played together. "I don't know daddy. Puppies take alot of work and I don't think I could handle one alone." She said not sure if she was ready to have her own puppy or dog yet. She then played with Spencer and started to chase him around having fun for once. Then she tripped and started to cry as she skinned her knee a little.

spencer smiled and said "think about it honey, and you wouldnt be doing it alone". He knew she probaly felt like she would be doing it alone, but he would stay home and do his work there, that was his new descion. when she started to chase him he didnt exactly run in a full jog but rather a slow run. Spencer noticed then she was going to fast and when she tripped he ran to her. Spencers old habits rose up and he said "oh, sweetheart dont cry its ok". he picked her up bridal style and said "lets go inside and clean it up, do you want me to kiss it better"? spencer didnt really even notice that he was being himself again and he didnt even feel miserable anymore,mis main thought was her.

Cadence nodded and hugged him as he carried her inside. SHe was starting to calm dwn as he held her. She did that all the time when she was a little baby. She had always been a daddy's girl from the moment he first held her. She then buried her face like she used to and sniffled a little. She gripped his shirt and her knee hurt as she sat in a chair waiting for him to get the first aid kit.

He kissed it lightly and he held her tightly. Spencer smiled and tears of happiness came to his eyes when he felt like he was for once back to normal and he was ok. Spencer set her on the chair and quickly went to the bathroom getting the first aid kit. Spencer got the kit and the walked back to the kitchen. he sat on the chair with her on his lap and said "ok, im going to disenfect in so it might sting alittle". Spencer grabbed the antiseptic cloth packet, opened it and lightly wiped the cut.

Cadence winced and gripped Spencer's shirt. "It hurts daddy." She said with a sniiffle. Once he was done with that and put the bandage on she hugged him and snuggled up to him feeling him rocking her a little. She loved her daddy and knew that he would be back to his old self in no time. At least she hoped so.

Spencer held her and as soon he finished treating the scrape he kissed her forehead and said "i know it hurt but you were really brave". he rocked her slightly feeling like he was back to his old self. when he got a flash of being kidnapped and tied to the chair, he got up carrying her and then went to the couch sitting down with her. Spencer still held her and he said grimly "sweetheart, Im sorry for not being there, and being too weak".
