OK, I'm reading the book "Mirror Mirror" by Gregory Maguire (no relation to the recent movie). For those of you not familiar with his work, what he basically does is take classic fairy-tails, bastardizes them worst than Once Upon A Time did through different points of views (aside from the hero or heroine). It can get pretty raunchy and crude. The musical "Wicked" is based off of his novel (and trust me they're hardly alike).

So I'm reading "Mirror Mirror" and he wrote it in such an odd way that it's a little difficult to read/understand as to what is going on. But trust me all the sexual talk gets by without confusion.

So I am at the part where Snow White (11 years old at this point) escapes into the forest and apparently passes out from starvation on the Seven Dwarfs' doorstep (for some odd reason the dwarfs are not little men but men made of stone). So they take her in and form into some sort of casket/bed thing around her. Years go by and she's now a woman. She basically went from 11 to 16-18 years old in a matter of paragraphs. When she awakens...
*this get really gross*
She notices that she's grown up. Her hair is really long, arms and legs have stretched. Also her finger and toenails have grown. Specially her toenails, they kind of curve around the toes. In the middle of her observations, suddenly her groin starts to hurt and feels as though something is going to crawl out of her. She starts panting, sweating, and experiencing a lot of excruciating pain. She then has blood cascade out of her and soaks herself from the waist down as well as the dwarfs that are still surrounding her and passes out. It was her menstruation that was stored up during her slumber.

So aside from being very grossed out and at one point thinking she was probably raped and about to give birth to someone's baby, the symptoms before the explosion made no sense at all. A v****a shouldn't hurt during a period. And granted this was a lot of stored menstrual blood (which makes absolutely no sense AT ALL), but it still shouldn't have seemed as though she were about to give birth. I'm sure that process is WAY more excruciating.
