I honestly don't think he is a bad guy. Amon is trying to achieve equality to all people by eliminating benders. But he is doing this wrong. So, very wrong.
If you think about it, it reflects what happened in the Avatar the Last Airbender, The old Fire Lord trys to spread his properous fire nation with all the other bending nations. But the Fire Lord's son Ozai took this the wrong way, making this evil. Amon didn't have to do this with generations and generations of people. He did this on his own, trying to help his fellow non-benders by giving them freedom.
I also think the council is approaching this in the wrong way. Instead of trying to kill them all. They should send a bender in to blend in with Equalist, then the Equalist ((not Amon)) will realize that benders are not that bad. And the equalist will fall apart. :V

Easier said than done. Once your judgement is clouded in darkness you can not sway them.

That was a set up, Lin Beifong said it when Asami's father attacked them in the underground basement. Because she said that it makes us all unsure if it was true or if it was a set up. So far Amon has been predicting their every move, so its more possible that it was a set up. And yeah I have seen the latest episode, twice in matter of fact.

well even if it was a setup, what that guy said could be true. When asami turned against her father, he told her about her mother yet she still didn't join amon's equalists thing. There could be some non-benders out there like Asami who actually were part of Amon's equalists and thought that Amon isn't great. It's a possibility.

well, I guess, I still believe that it was a set up because of course, Amon could have told the dude that he was going to be helpful in tricking the avatar into their hands. And I think, based on how people act, that he would've said yes. ( not sure if that made any sense )
Also, Asami had a choice to either join the equalist or the benders. But judging on her actions and friends, she chose the benders
I have no idea what I'm talking about anymore.
It's too early in the show to actually und
erstand this.

You are right I have no clue either. I'm pretty clueless too. They won't tell us what happened 42 years ago ! Ahhh! It makes my head run in circles.. Well whatever I'm done with talking about Amon, I have to think a lot when I have to type here.

Ozai is the grandson of Sozin... and Azula is named after Azulon... the son of Sozin.

And Amon is taking revenge... it's nothing like Sozin's campaign.

Also... Benders killing the Equalists? What show are you watching? Tarrlok is having them arrested... do you not see them being put into handcuffs?
