This is the main north-south road in camp, where you can find all kinds of shops and cafes catering to the legion. Need your gladius repaired or want to buy a cup of coffee from Bombilo the two headed barista? This is the place to go.

                                  Jasper sighed lightly as he shifted through the papers on his desk, in an attempt to assemble them into an order that another person would be able to recognize. The praetor wasn’t the most organized person in the world, which could be a bit of a problem when he helped to oversee an entire camp made up of over one hundred demigods and legacies. Documents got misplaced, lists trodden underfoot, and folders and binders didn’t seem to serve a purpose other than a reminder of how he should be keeping everything in order. Aurum and Argentum – dogs made of pure gold and silver, respectively – watched him unblinkingly from the corner of the office, their heads resting on their front paws as they sat on their haunches. Jasper looked up and over at the two animals after a moment, frowning. “Don’t look at me like that, por favor. I’m trying,” he protested, aware that they were less than impressed at how much time he was spending on gathering his papers. Again.

                                  Several more minutes passed before the praetor finally stood, his desk cleared and neat again, although he was very aware it wouldn’t stay that way for very long when he returned. It was about time he made a couple rounds around the camp grounds to ensure that everyone was doing what they were supposed to and no one had gotten trampled by another unicorn stampede or anything. Not to mention, he could also go for something to eat right about then. Jasper stepped out from behind his desk, striding swiftly for the door. He paused as he opened it, looking back over at Aurum and Argentum, whose eyes had faithfully followed him. “You two can come along for a walk, if you'd like. Some fresh air might do all of us some good.” The dogs looked at him before glancing at each other. After a moment of silent communications that Jasper merely watched patiently, Argentum eventually stood up and trotted over to the door and walked out ahead of the son of Jupiter. He smiled a little, saluting over to the other animal still in the room before closing the door behind him.

                                  Argentum stuck closely to Jasper as they walked down the Via Principalis, leading into the Via Praetoria. It was a pleasant, sunny day, although the praetor hardly expected different; it was usually pleasant weather around camp. The sky was clear of any clouds and a light breeze provided some relief from the heat that California summers brought. From what Jasper could see, Camp Jupiter seemed mostly at peace – well, as peaceful as the Roman camp could be. He fondly scratched behind Argentum’s ears, caught up in studying their surroundings when his attention was suddenly caught by a shout. “I have a debt I deeply need to pay back! Oi sir, show a little compassion!” Before Jasper’s eyes could even fall on the faun, Argentum growled, taking up a defensive position in front of the praetor, ready to rip the other creature to shreds. When he’d first come to camp, the demigod had felt sort of sorry for the fauns, since he knew what it was like to be penniless and forced to live on the streets of a city. He quickly learned to think differently, however, and raised an eyebrow over at the faun, who had stumbled and fallen in the road. He didn’t seem very keen on moving with the dog’s ruby eyes trained on him. “Effrenate,” Jasper said quietly. Argentum immediately relaxed, although he continued baring his teeth. “Venite.” With that, Jasper continued walking again, and after a moment, the guard dog grudgingly followed.

                                  The praetor waited until they’d gotten to nearly the end of the road to stop beside an ice cream stand, ordering a vanilla for Argentum and pistachio for himself. Neither Aurum nor Argentum were very fond of many of the campers other than the praetors, and they could be bit temperamental with how protective they were. No one was partial to the fauns, but Jasper certainly didn’t want them torn to shreds for the act of begging. He crouched down beside the dog, holding out the ice cream cone for him to eat while his stormy blue eyes turned to once more survey the camp grounds.

                                  ( ooc ) outfit in side image! and this definitely isn't my best post, but i promise they'll get better once i have someone to reply to.

                                  ( translations ) latin: "effrenate" = "at ease" / "venite" = "come"

                                                    "Jasper, what do you think of- Par tous les dieux!" Adeline stood in the doorway of her fellow Praetor's office, staring in shock at the mess that he dared call a desk. She stepped into the room, looking around and finding that her friend was not there. She scowled and moved over to his desk, looking at the mess of papers and binders in contempt. Her OCD itched at her hands and she shoved them into the pockets of her jacket, heaving a long suffering sigh. Adeline had always felt that order was important, especially so when you had papers that you had to keep track of and go over and not lose track of. But with the state Jasper's desk was in, Adeline was certain that he'd misplaced something that they'd need one day. The tall girl rubbed at the bridge of her nose, swearing that she could feel a headache coming on already. It was probably the dismal mess of these papers that was causing it, but it was a headache nonetheless. The daughter of Bellona wanted desperately to organize this mess, half of the feeling came from necessity, and half from her obsessive disorder and need to bring order to chaos, however small. She glanced over and saw Aurum lying on the ground watching her with narrowed eyes, head lolling lazily. Adeline frowned at the dog, feeling that his expression could only be translated as amusement. She sighed and rolled her eyes, then snapped her fingers down by her hip. The golden automaton took her cue and stood, stretching (not that Adeline though he had anything to stretch) and came over to her, sitting next to her obeidiently. She shook her head, then said half to herself and half to her companion, "We need to find Jasper. He can't think that this - this mess is okay!"

                                                    With a huff the French girl forced herself to turn and leave the office, closing the door hard behind her and Aurum. She left the building and headed out to find her coworker, and demi-gods scattered in her wake, knowing full and well that when Adeline had that look in her eye, it was in everyone's best interest to steer clear of her. Not that she would actually hurt any of the campers, not without good reason. But she had an air about her that just struck fear into the campers' hearts. It was a cold, commanding air. A mien that suggested she would strike a man dead in a heartbeat without even batting an eye. Adeline wouldn't, of course, unless she really had to, but her father had taught her to adopt such an air, and in some ways nature, so that people would show the respect she deserved. Though Adeline was a firm believer in giving respect to get it, her father held no such ideals. So she became imposing and cruel seeming, and if they didn't respect her they at least feared her, which was the next best thing, she supposed.

                                                    This innate skill came in handy more often than not, especially, like now, when Adeline was searching for someone. People were more than ready to point her in the right direction, and they did so when she stopped and asked a small group of campers where her fellow Praetor was located. The campers, hardly more than children, pointed down the street towards one of the ice cream shops, and Adeline thanked them stonily and headed off, golden hound at her heels. When she came upon the sight of her coworker feeding Aurum's counterpart, Argentum, ice cream, the French girl paused a moment and watched, standing just out of the boy's line of sight. The Praetor felt an odd pang of affection and a tiny, tiny smile curved her lush lips. It was interesting, nice even, to see her usually stern and stoic counterpart feeding his companion ice cream. It showed something that, of course, she already knew about Jasper; that he was compassionate. It was a tiny sign, this kind act towards Argentum, but to Adeline, it spoke volumes. She cocked her hip and folded her arms over her chest, watching the way Jasper's eyes scanned the camp. The black haired girl let her own eyes drift down Jasper's cheek to his jaw, and she tilted her head to the side, thinking that he really did have a very handsome profile. Her mind was jolted back to reality by an agitated huff at her side, and Adeline looked down to see Aurum looking back up at her, blinking expectantly, not wanting to have made this a wasted trip. But there was another sparkle in his ruby eyes, a knowing, amused glint, as if he were teasing her over the way she let her mind wander around Jasper.

                                                    On that note, Adeline rolled her eyes, then cleared her throat and re-assumed her powerful, imposing stance - arms crossed and back straight, head tilted slightly back. She spoke across the short distance separating her and Jasper, French accent thick in her agitation,
                                                    "Jasper Valentin, please explain to me what that mess you call an office is." She closed the distance between them then, creating a shadow that fell over Jasper and glaring down at her friend, "Really, Jasper, how difficult is it to put things in the right place? I guarantee if you did you wouldn't have to worry about losing things or ruining them. And I know you're always losing and ruining things." It wasn't uncommon for Adeline to scold her friend over the dismal state of his files, in fact it had almost become routine. Chances were her berratings would never result in Jasper changing his messy ways, but at least she could try. Somewhere Adeline hoped that he'd straighten up, but her analytical mind knew that he never would. At least she could remind him that he should.

                                                    {{OOC: Yeah, not my best post, but it's something >.< Outfit in the word "Turn" }}

                                                    {{Translations: Par tous les dieux = By the gods! }}
