Recently I have learned about an exploit that seems to be making the rounds throughout Kid Icarus: Uprising's online scene, and I think that this is something players should be aware of.
Recently, a growing number of players online are starting to see others 1HKOing them, and immediately decide that said player is cheating.

This is not the case in 99% of matches.

Apparently, using a decently strong Magnus Club with either the Trade-Off, Energy Charger, or Libra Sponge Powers will give the player the ability to one-hit-KO any other player, or reduce their health from full to only one more hit before death takes them.

This is not a glitch or a mistake in the programming.

It is a verified, completely legal, and very cheap tactic that many players are starting to catch on to and use with other high-ranked weapons besides the Magnus Club, during online matches, for the sake of kill stealing if not out-right killing on their own.

There are counters to this that players should be aware of.
Use Pisces Heal, Brief Invulnerability, Aeries Armor, or Super Armor, in conjunction with either the Bumblebee or Counter powers.

However, in the interest of long, fun, non-frustrating matches for everyone involved, I would like to propose the following suggestion to all members of the Kid Icarus guild.

The use of the Libra Sponge, Energy Charger, and Trade-Off powers should be restricted to use only with very weak weapons[2 stars or less on both Range and Melee], or else be banned altogether, during matches with friends and guild members.

This is not something I shall enforce, nor is it something that I will condemn others for not doing, for the sake of those players that DO like being super competitive within the matches.
Your decision on what powers to use during a match is yours alone, regardless of what others think of you for it.

However, if everyone starts using this strategy for the sake of competing on an even level with someone who DOES use it on a frequent basis, then we will start getting into nothing but matches where 1HKO's are the order of the day, and players use either the 1HKO powers build or an Anti-1HKO powers build during matches, which will severely limit the variety of player strategies via power-weapon set-ups that we will be using during matches, since everyone would either be using the 1HKO build, or using a build that counters it.
It would cut severely into the level of actual skill required to battle and would reduce matches to little more than first-strike-wins scenarios, which would eventually become tiresome and stale.
I am all for being competitive, but not if it makes matches tiresome and stale.

Therefore, for the reasons outlined above, I do hope that all of you will take this suggestion to heart, to improve your standing amongst your peers, and to make matches far more enjoyable for everyone involved.

Again, thank you for your time, make sure to add as many friends in our guild as you can, and I hope to see you all in-game very soon.^_^[PM me if you add me, k? K.^_^]

This is actually 100% True Trade off is a deadly ability I learned of this after the Nintendo Direct from Japan and not only is the Magnus club the deadly one also the sagitarius bow is bad too with it's foward dash charge shot, hell even with energy charger those two are deadly.

Very interesting post. Thorough and very informative. I agree. There should be a certain respect when you battle someone in the guild or via friendcode. It might be fun to just go bashin random online people but we really shouldn't see the same thing amongst friends. Unless it's mutual. Let's say I just kept destroying someone over and over, I would have no problem if they tryed to bash me razz . Of course there are those measures to prevent such things. It would, indeed, eventually kinda get old, because with the power grid limitation you would basically have to go full out defense or offense.

These are some great considerations for if we would set up a tournament. Although it would be hard to judge if someone used it as we can only view an opponents weapons after battle.. It would be fairly obvious though if they just started slaying like crazy. For tournaments we may have to restrict the use of powers all together if people use those cheap tactics.. although someone might get away with using a few, self help powers.. Maybe a KO limit to stop the obvious cheapos razz Not sure, no rules are in place yet, but just pondering what would make a good fair tournament.

I totally forgot about Energy Charger!*Forehead slap*
Although it's less cheap since taking damage nullifies the effect, it's still in the same category as the other two, so I'll add that in.
Thanks for the heads up! 3nodding

I'm considering typing up a powers list at some point that we could use as a guideline for tournament matches, actually.
So far the items I'm thinking of putting on a "don't use" list, are the ones above, but I'm also considering Black Hole since it's such a cheap and easy way to score KO's, especially for a club user or for someone that has Daybreak assembled.
If I leave it in the OK list, then I'll likely also leave in Pisces Heal and/or Brief Invulnerability, to balance out the options for people who get stuck inside it.
I'm mainly just looking to side-line all the powers that make it super easy to score a KO regardless of who you're playing against....

I've also considered the idea of a "raw" tournament, where all items are turned off and all powers taken out, but that seems a bit too plain.
Smash Bros already has enough "no items" players and it ruins a lot of the fun I have with the game when nobody adds in the nice stuff, so I'm probably just going to stick to the list of OK and Banned items.

As a Magnus Club fan, I am actually surprised to learn this. However, I tend to pick powers for survivability(healing my health, removing status effects, etc) in multiplayer over offensive ones(though I do occasionally use Mega Laser or Explosion for some ranged options) anyway.

i always be careful when dealing with Libra Sponge users. Best way to deal with it is play defencivly and carefully and keep your eye peeled for range moved. Sometimes it's just to hard too. xD

Ah, so you guys have noticed this trend also it seems. Being a player who uses Energy Charge, I will admit that scoring OHKOs, or KOs in general, does end matches fairly quickly, especially if there are several players on my team that do the exact same thing. I agree with this proposed ban.
