Information (Stat Information and How to Increase)

On each cert will be a series of bars on one side, with the following:

Calm/Aggressive
Good HND/Poor HND
Strong/Weak
Fast/Slow
Smart/Not so Much
Heavy/Skinny
High STM/Low STM
Tall/Short

Loyal/Disloyal

with ten spaces in each class. So, without the graphics at the moment, something like this:

HND= Handling
STM= Stamina
CON= Conformation

All of these stats can be changed, with the exception of Conformation and Height, which is determined at birth. The bars will come from the middle, towards whichever side they are stronger in. To change your stats, you can:

Train your Chocobo with an NPC
Feed your Chocobo different Greens/other foods
Or give your chocobo gifts to make it happier, or scold it to make it less friendly.

Your starter chocobo. Adorable as it is... it's not a very good bird. It doesn't trust you, it barely has any strength, and heaven forbid if you have glass doors. So, solution to the silliness of the beast?

Training of course!

Training can be done one of three ways each week, up to three tries. Each successful training raises its stats by a half a point.

The three training methods are:

Taking your chocobo to an NPC Trainer
Training your Chocobo Yourself
and having your chocobo Compete.

Taking your chocobo to a trainer costs 500 gil, but it has the highest chance of success, as they are professionals.

Training your chocobo yourself is free, but it is very difficult to succeed outside of your specialized field.

Having your chocobo Compete has a moderate chance of success to raise stats, but which stats go up are random and only in the ones that are associated with that competition. However, should the bird have a bad enough score in competition, it may lose points. (e.x. A jouster may get a raise in handling, strength, or temperament, or all three, or even negative, if the bird is injured.)


Ok, so those are the three methods, but how do you raise them, actually? Well, each stat has a number associated with it that determines its difficulty to rank up in.

Temperament (either up or down): 10*
Handling: 14
Strength: 15
Speed: 12
Intelligence: 13*
Weight has to do with what you feed your chocobos.
Stamina: 17
Height can be Manipulated through breeding.
Conformation can be upgraded only through breeding
Loyalty can only be gained through consistent rp

*= if at stage 2 or three, add 5 to your roll for stage 2, and 3 for stage 3, because those baby years are all important!

To see if training was successful, after 5 posts of interaction with an NPC trainer, or 10 solo with your bird, roll 1d20. If you're training with a Trainer, add 5 to your total roll.

Competitions work differently, however. Each bird will roll 1d20, and the one with the highest wins- one stat will increase for sure, and another has a 50% chance of increasing. For every chocobo within 3 points of the winning number, there is a 50% chance of a stat gain. At 8 points below the winning number, there is a 50% chance of stat loss.
