Ok, as much fun as it would be to have mass egg-laying all the time, chocobos do need to rest between each breeding. The cooldown period between each breeding of a chocobo is 2 months. When you breed, the two chocobos must have some history together- these birds are somewhat smart, they do have personalities, and some just aren't compatible, after all...
