Lin Beifong's antagonism towards Korra, and Tenzin as well seems really...harsh. And I have a feeling that it may end up being a plot point.
Possibility #1:
-She is the "other woman" Tenzin had a relationship with before Pema. Being the only other woman in the right age range we know at the moment, this seems like a pretty easy conclusion to jump to. I wouldn't be terribly nice to the man who dumped me for a much younger woman either.
But this WOULD make Tenzin's "Ah Lin, radiant as ever" comment a rather...diskish thing to say.
Possibility #2:
42 years ago, Aang had to "deal with" a threat to Republic City- Yakone. Flashbacks show Toph looking serious, Sokka looking upset, Aang apparently standing before the council, and then charging at a man who is presumably Yakone.
Theory? Yakone killed Toph, and Aang, in anger, kills Yakone and has to explain his actions to the council.
Lin would have been 8 at the time, and the Avatar, his mother's friend, failed to save her. Maybe that's even when Lin got her scars. It wouldn't be hard for her to be rather disillusioned with the Avatar if that happened.
Either, or BOTH of these seem feasible at this point.
Thoughts? Alternate theories?

Lin being the other woman... does seem like a possibility... Lin is really coo lthough... Pena kinda makes me sad now... ALSO... Pema is 35, and Tenzin is 51... Jinora is 10... so means They met before Pema was 25... and Tenzin was 41...
Wow shiz... if Tenzin was with Lin for like a decade... Did... did they have a kid?

I guess like Aang really... a happy relaxed guy. But Lin and then having kids with Pema, kinda hardened him up, be more responsible, strict, etc... But that must have been the man Pema fell for... a man similar personality to Aang... and with smashing looks to boot? Also... maybe Lin didn't produce children... if they were married... and their marriage fell to bits. Now if that was the case... the way Lin is... makes hardcore sense.

Well yes... most women do see being infertile... especially if they want kids... as being "less of a woman"... so to speak. Though I guess those that do not want kids wouldn't care... I suppose.

Right. I mean, clearly the idea that the ability to produce children is central to the identity of a woman is like, really ******** up. But if Lin and Tenzin were together, and she's infertile, and Tenzin left her for a MUCH younger woman who has already given Tenzin 3, nearly 4 children....and et's be honest, Tenzin needed to have children, he has to pass on airbending... I can see how that would make someone bitter.

And that totally alienates any woman who is infertile, or wasn't born with a uterus, or who simply choses not to have children for personal reasons. Which would tie into Lin's bitterness if she were infertile, and Tenzin left her for a woman who could give him children, ya know?

Yes well... women who can't have babies are not lesser to those who can... I am just saying some women do think that way. Though Korra's time is based on the 1920s China... It seems sexism doesn't exist... heck... I think all bigotry of our world is all put into Benders vs non-benders... So I guess Amon is like an extremist who Small factor, the having children thing, I am sure. If Tenzin didn't really love Lin in the first place... well... that seems to be the bigger issue... He seems to love Pema, a lot... and not because she is a baby MACHINE... She could pop out maybe 1-2 more lolol.
