Hoth is what I like to call a planet wide "Winter Wasteland" The local Wampas aren't that friendly, it's cold as hell during the day, cold as hell at night, tauntauns run rampant yapping all about, oh and there is rumored to be a Sith crypt on the planet. The asteroid field around Hoth is quite treacherous as well.
