Tetroneaque was starting to fit in, yet he didn't feel like he was contributing anything to anyone really. It made him feel like a leech, or worse like a pet (which Thanatos seemed to delight in informing the Kit'aru of on a constant basis). Tetro wanted to find someway to pay back the generosity of the order but his skills were limited at the moment. Yet as fate would have it, his wanderings took him to the hangar where all the ships were docked.
He stopped to examine some of the ships, finding them a little outdated by his race's standards in some ways. Maybe this was a way he could help the Order? They didn't seem to have any dedicated mechanics or machinists, and the droids they used seemed only to keep the temple clean and tidy in general. Where should Tetro start though? Most of the ships seemed in rather good repair, but then he saw one ship that looked quite the mess! He didn't know that this particular starship belonged to Zeraxul.
It seemed the perfect place to start though, so Tetroneaque got himself a toolbox and climbed onto the ship as he immediately went to work. The little Kit'aru was surprisingly good at what he did, which was one of the reasons he'd held such a high rank among the scientists of the Kit'aru. He could create the most complicated weapons and defensive systems and create mechanical marvels with ease, repairing a highly damaged alien starship was right up his alley!
Tetroneaque spent hours working on the ship, making good progress. It was tiring work, but he was in the zone and refused to quit. He had something to prove to everyone. He wasn't a pet! He could actually contribute in some manner that would be a help to everyone. Even if no one appreciated his help at least it would make him feel better in the end. He was so consumed with his work that he didn't even notice someone else enter the hangar.

Zeraxul had taken a break from repairing his heavily damaged ship to do a bit of bladework, as well as grabbing a bite to eat. It would be bad if he allowed himself to get rusty...granted, he always made sure to find an area or a time when he was the only one there. He did not wish to be disturbed at this point in time, by anyone. He felt shocked, however, to see some...thing near his ship. As he approached, he noticed it appeared to be a foxlike creature of some sort with purple fur. It appeared to be doing something to his ship, and also didn't seem to notice his approach. At least, Zeraxul figured it wouldn't until it was too late. His saber was out as he approached the creature, and he ignited it when he was close...aiming the blade to where the creature would feel the heat off the saber on its back, between its shoulders. He then spoke in a low and dangerous tone.
"You've got five seconds to step away from my ship and explain yourself."
He then immediately went to a countdown without taking a single pause. If the creature were to move, he would move the saber along with it, keeping it pointed at the creature the entire time.
"Four......three...."

Tetroneaque had been so engrossed in his work that he didn't realize anyone was even in the hangar with him till he heard the noise of a lightsaber being ignited and felt the heat on his back, which meant it was only a hair from touching him. He went completely still as he heard the voice behind him.
"I would step away as you ask, but your lightsaber is blocking off the only route I might move." Tetroneaque said in a tone that was much more calm than he actually felt. As he heard the countdown start he quickly started to explain himself.
"I was just looking around the hangar when I noticed how badly damaged this particular ship was. I was simply making some repairs to it, as I felt a need to contribute in some way to the Order for so graciously taking me in when I had no one to turn to. I assure you that I meant no harm and only wished to help!" Tetroneaque said very quickly, speaking so fast that his words were a little hard to make out. This seemed like it would be just his luck, getting skewered by the very people he was wishing to repay for taking him in.

Zeraxul paused a moment, listening to the creature's explanation. He remained silent, though he also didn't move an inch either for those few seconds while he considered this. Certainly, having some measure of help would speed the process up....but why would this creature go out of its way to help him? Provided, of course, he was telling the truth. Zeraxul kept the saber ignited, and one eye on the creature as he moved over to inspect what it had been doing to his ship. From the look of it, it appeared he was telling the truth. The ship had been further progressed in its repairs since he had left the hangar. He looked directly back to him, keeping the saber ignited and pointed at him for the moment.
"I can tell you are speaking the truth, at least for the moment...but why would you go out of your way to help me, of all people? What are you seeking from me to have a desire to help fix my ship?"
Zeraxul knew full well that help did not come for free. He didn't even know this creature, yet it had sought his ship out? He must have heard something about him, and decided it wanted something from him. Granted, it was certainly a good way to get something from Zeraxul...but WHAT did he want?

"I don't know what you mean. I don't want anything in return. I simply saw this was the ship in most need of repairs and decided to do something since my skills are more mechanically inclined... Maybe I was just seeking for everyone here to at least acknowledge that I'm useful in some manner and not just a charity case or... pet, to be taken care of." Tetroneaque admitting that he was doing this more to prove himself to every in the Order than to garner any personal favors. He just wanted to do something to contribute.
"I just need to do something to help out... that's all." He made no movements but it was easy to see how frustrated he was with his position in this new galaxy. Being able to work on these ships was something that was actually familiar and helped him feel like he belonged.

Zeraxul thought on this for a moment. AFter a short time he deactivated his saber and put it away.
"A simple enough request. I will easily be able to refrain from thinking of you that way if you prove your worth here. You seemed to know what you were doing by the look of it so far...now, basically, a rancor had mauled this ship. Tell me, what still needs repairing from this damage?"
Zeraxul already knew what all still needed repairs. The fuselage was actually still heavily damaged, as well as a good amount of internal circuitry and other mechanical workings. Zeraxul had, so far, only managed to repair everything having to do with the wings and the opening/closing mechanism of the cockpit. The actual propulsion, computer, and life support systems remained offline as of yet.

Tetroneaque breathed a quick sigh of relief now that the imminent threat of death by lightsaber was no longer looming above him. At the question on what needed repairs he glanced at the ship again before responding. "Well I'm not really familiar with this model of ship and there are some differences from what I'm used to dealing with... but I'd say the fuselage is in need of an overhaul, several internal circuits and systems are missing parts and what remains are quite damaged too. I haven't even seen an energy conversion unit for your shields either..." His estimate was about the same as Zeraxul's though he'd added the last bit since he was used to the shield systems of his own kind.
"The hull seems to have some superficial damage as well, but the cockpit controls seem to be fine as do the wing controls. In my opinion this ship needs a great deal of work before I'd clear it to fly again."

Zeraxul listened to the creature, though one thing he mentioned puzzled him. An energy conversion unit for shields? Last he checked, such a thing was fairly unheard of. To his knowledge, anyhow. He nodded though, then spoke.
"That is, overall, correct. However, I can't say I have ever even heard of shields being on any starship, much less a fighter before. The reason you haven't seen this model before, though, is that it's custom built. I designed and made the entire thing myself. As for the controls...those weren't working at first either, those are just what I managed to get done first. You are correct, though....Nightfang still needs a lot of work before it is flyable again."
He paused for a moment, before nodding again. Perhaps he could walk away from this with a great deal, without even needing to give that much in exchange. Just acknowledgement that he was useful, which Zeraxul would easily be able to give, should he prove himself as useful as he is sounding.
"Yes...it definitely sounds like you know your way around ships, at least. What do you call yourself?"
Zeraxul didn't even wait for a response before using the Force to pull a couple tools to himself as he got up into the interieor, proceeding to carefully remove the parts that needed repairs or replacing as he was able to.

"My name is Tetroneaque Swiftpaw Tailchaser, though everyone has taken to calling me Tetro for short." The Kit'aru replied with a little nod. "I'm sorry for not properly introducing myself at first, I guess the threat of death looming over me made me forget my manners." He added with a little chuckle.
"I only mentioned an energy conversion unit as it seems that your ship relies on an energy based weapon system for it's primary mode of attack and self defense. I keep forgetting that things are different in this galaxy, with some technology being superior and some being inferior. If I had time though I could create a conversion unit that would render your ship practically immune to most energy weapons, allowing it to charge up your systems and even produce a more powerful shot for your weapons as well. Nothing like turning an opponent's strength against them right?" Tetroneaque said cheerfully, more than willing to chat about technology in general. He picked up some tools and went to work alongside Zeraxul, taking the change in mood as permission to help out.
"So what's your name?" He asked as he removed a damaged component and inspected it to see if it needed to be replaced entirely or if it could be repaired.

"Call me Zeraxul."
That was all he said for a moment as he mulled over the possibility of this energy converter. It certainly sounded appealing, for certain. This began a thought process in Zeraxul's head, wondering just what kind of technological things Tetro could think of. Just how far would he be able to have Tetro upgrade his ship, he had to wonder? The possibilities, on top of something he was considering asking Thanatos about...it almost boggled the mind. He found himself actually getting slight chills at the prospects of what he was thinking of. It was only after a few minutes of silence and pondering that Zeraxul realized something that Tetro had said.
"Wait...'this galaxy?' You're not from this one, then? Fascinating...what kind of technology do you have out where you come from?"
He then set down the tool he was currently working with, grabbing a small welding tool and a pair of welding goggles using the Force, putting one on himself and passing the other to Tetro. He waited until Tetro had his on to begin surgically welding a few tears together. These were mechanical peices that could obviously be repaired via this particular means.

"That's correct. I'm from an entirely different galaxy and arrived here due to an... unforeseen complication with my latest experiment." He said, glossing over the details a little bit as he still wasn't quite sure just what had gone wrong with his device. "As for our technology we don't use many energy based weapons except for light combat, as almost all our vehicles are equipped with energy shields and an energy converter that can absorb energy based attacks and use that to strengthen the shields. We don't use many melee weapons either for our ground forces, except for the occasional fission cutter." Tetroneaque added as he put on the offered goggles and went back to work as well.
While he was talking he let the bracer on his left wrist expand outward over his own body as he put his hands together, covering his hands in protective gloves as his exo-suit activated. He stopped it after it covered both hands, not needing any other parts of his body protected at the moment.
"I have to say that those lightsabers are very interesting weapons, and after I learn enough about the Force I'm quite looking forward to finally being able to examine one up close." He commented as he repaired another piece of equipment. These kinds of repairs were easy for Tetro, and was actually helping him relax. It felt good to be able to do something that he understood completely.

Zeraxul listened, quite fascinated to hear about the level of technology found in this other galaxy. The implications alone of the enhancements that could maybe be made to not only ships, but possibly even to lightsabers were truly astounding. It would be interesting, indeed, if Tetro were to be able to modify a lightsaber to increase it's potency just by mechanical improvements alone. Zeraxul actually chuckled...he would be first in line for that kind of improvements, especially if he didn't even need to give much at all in return. Perhaps he really could take advantage of Tetro's presence.
"Well, the thing about lightsabers is that there are actually multiple kinds of them. Some of us use two at once, some only one...some of us, like myself, have one that can either be two seperate ones, or a single one with a blade on either end."
He had to admit that Tetro's mechanical gloves were certainly interesting. Two gloves, forming from a single bracer? Was it some sort of compressed suit, perhaps? Very, very interesting indeed. After he finished welding together what he could, he replaced the now fixed parts back in his ship, then proceeding to remove destroyed curcuits by hand.
"You also say you're interested in learning of the Force...what have you discovered so far?"

Tetroneaque nodded as he welded together a rend in the metal on the area he was working on, listening intently to the talk of lightsabers and their variants. They sounded like any other weapons he'd worked with before, with everyone having a preferred type the liked or were better at or that worked better in certain situations. It was reassuring to here more familiar talk. His ears twitched several times when Zeraxul asked Tetro about what he'd learned so far about the Force.
"Well to be honest I've only started training recently. I can do some basic stuff like levitate small objects and sense others that are around. I was also able to send out a sort of 'Force Howl' when I got really agitated, and that surprised even me. I can also talk to others telepathically, though I've stopped doing so since I learned your language and the fact that not everyone was very...uh, accepting of hearing me inside their heads." That was putting things mildly as Thanatos had been downright hostile to Tetro ever since he'd spoke to him mind to mind.
As he spoke he had been examining wires, removing those too damaged to be of use and mending the lines with new wires he pulled out of a nearby container. It seemed that the duo were making rather good progress on the section they were repairing.

Zeraxul nodded slightly. It seemed Tetro was just beginning in learning of the Force. He grunted a bit as one of the sets of circuits proved to be a bit resisting to being pulled out. It took a moment of tugging, wiggling, and twisting it before it finally came loose. He had managed to also avoid damaging anything else in the process, thankfully. He tossed it to the side before moving on to the next one and replying.
"Yes...not everyone enjoys having someone inside their head, especially knowing what sorts of things you can do with that kind of power. Telepathy can be a powerful Force technique if utilized correctly...I myself am not really interested in learning the finer points of that particular power, but I have heard stories. It sounds like you've made some decent progress in learning a little, though."
He had to admit that Tetro knew his way around technology, based on the progress they were making. It was far faster than what he could have achieved alone.

"Until recently I didn't even know that my telepathy was considered part of the Force, as everyone of my race can communicate in such a fashion... though we usually reserve it for more intimate situations like close friends or family members. I also didn't know that someone could use that link to insert new knowledge into another's mind or extract information... until Thanatos forced all the knowledge of this language into my mind in a rather painful manner." Tetroneaque stated, simply speaking his mind. His voice did take on a slight growl as he mentioned Thanatos though. The man was intelligent to be sure, but Tetroneaque simply did not like the fellow's methods.
As he spoke he continued with his work on the ship, finishing up the system he'd been working on and moving on to another area where he started to remove a piece of the hull's plating to get at the damaged insides. It was as if he knew exactly where to go to make repairs, and his small stature allowed him to crawl into the opening and start removing the totally destroyed pieces while fixing what he could at the moment.
"Wow! It's a real mess inside here! I can't say I ever want to run into whatever one of these rancor creatures are if one did all this to your ship." He tossed a burned out circuit board and some badly mangled wires as he spoke, starting a small pile of ruined parts that would have to be totally replaced when he got a chance.
