I read them occasionally. I have read all of them twice now.
I enjoy the vivid imagery, even though some parts always make me cry (Rue~! crying ).
I am wondering whether I can give myself a pass on The Lord of the Flies because I read this series. xd

The Hunger Games was surprisingly good. I thought it was just another overly hyped teen novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I read it really fast too. But oh...the characters that don't make it...so sad. T.T

I read all three book as well. One of the few things I was surprised it was based off an gladiatorial arenas were influenced by Classical life in the ancient world - namely, Roman life and Greek myth. If you research the deeper connections, you will be surprised to learn that Katniss can be connected to Diana or, in the Greek version, Artemis if you think about her personality throughout the books. And that is just one of the few things I can find at this site. Another example would be the mutations at the end of the first installment as well as the tributes' names. Ironically, all them got their names from famous Romans. Hunger Games

I made the gladiator and "bread and circuses" connection when reading the books, but I didn't think of Katniss as Diana, or know enough about the other characters names that the article mentioned. Thanks for sharing. 3nodding
