Name:
Amaya "Ami" Saotome

Age:
Sixteen and still kickin'!

Gender:
Female

Element:
Fire (and thus lightning)

Personality:
Amaya is a carefree girl, her cunning mind always working fast to process dangerous situations. She's free and wild, much like the fire she controls. Naturally, she was that temper most fire benders are known for, so it's best to stay on her good side. She's loquacious, always a chatty little thing. Amaya likes to speak her mind a lot though, which, in such a time, can be dangerous.

Bio:
Amaya was born into a well-to-do family consisting of herself, her mother and father, and two young brothers. Her mother was a fire bender and her father was a water bender, so they're kind of a crazy couple.
They were circus folk, always travelling around in caravans, amazing regular people with such acrobatic skills. She worked the high-wire from when she was a child. Her mother used to, but after three children she settled on being the magician's assistant. Her two twin younger brothers, Kenchi and Hotaru, were only babies when she was eight, so even though her mother worked that job, she was usually too busy with them. Her father worked as the animal tamer, his most renowned work being taming the platypus bears.
One night while on tour in Republic City, a fire started while they finished packing up their circus equipment. The animals went haywire, and in the ruckus of trying to calm them down, Amaya was knocked off the animal cart. Her head hit the street, the contact blacking her out. When she woke up, it was still night and she was alone. She was only twelve.
Since that incident, she's been living on her own, working as a waitress in a tea shop. On the side, Amaya works other strange jobs, trying to earn enough money to look for her family. But that's only in the day. At night, however, she goes to secret meetings with benders to discuss the Equalist Movements. Amaya isn't one for politics, but it's interesting, these meetings. "If they want a war," One bender had said to her upon her first arrival, "Then they'll get one."

Other:
-Amaya is afraid of bugs. Especially big ones.
-Being lost. When you find yourself at twelve years old alone on the street, you can't help but gain that fear.
-She prays to the spirits everyday. She even has a small shrine in her apartment to honor them. Amaya is too embarrassed to tell anyone about it.

Name:
Miki Sialuk
Means "Little rain drop"

Age:
Sixteen

Gender:
Female

Element:
Water

Personality:
Miki is emotionally driven, always caring about the thoughts and feelings of others she cares deeply for. She tends to be headstrong and impatient when it comes to many things; waiting is the one she can't stand in particular. While she has her bad traits, she can be compassionate like an older sister when needed to be.

Bio:
Miki was born in the Northern Water Tribe, but sought to leave, even as a child. She lived in the upper section of the tribe. Her father, Akiak, is a high political figure and her mother, Sakari, is a head healer and speaker of the spirits. The Spirit Oasis was no mysterious place for Miki; she was often taken there due to her mother's main purpose. The lush garden was her childhood playrground. Miki would run and lay in the grass, basking in the wonderful feeling. "Softer than snow?" Her mother would ask, peeking over at her from her meditation around the spring. Miki would grin and nod her head, coming over to where her mother was. Her mother wouldn't be around forever, and the chief designated Miki as the predecessor. Or, he said, the spirits had. Females in her mother's side of the family have been speakers of the spirits for centuries. It was uncommon for water benders to have blond hair, but herself, her mother, her grandmother, and so on all had this trait. And all those people with that hair in her family were spirit speakers.
They were never really given the choice whether they wanted this fate or not. Eventually she'd come to accept this fate, the council would say. But they often fretted over this, since she was such a wild child. She would often skip prayers and meetings with the spirits Tui and La at the Spirit Oasis. Her mother objected, saying that she was still young and that she deserved to live a little. On Miki's sixteenth birthday, her training was to intensify. This also meant she was ready to be betrothed. A spirit speaker would be a prize to any able bodied man. But she wasn't interested at all. She was to engrossed with her waterbending. Every time she used her abilities, Miki felt such a strong connection with the spirits and with the world. Her father taught her water bending and her mother taught her healing.
She couldn't have asked for two better parents, but she could never ask them when she was younger to explore the world. But now, sixteen and full of life, Miki plucked up the courage and pleaded. Her mother was all for it. But her father wasn't all too sure. He took it up with the council. But her hot headed mother marched up to the council hall and insisted she be allowed this freedom. After all, her mother still had many years to serve as this position. After a week of considering this, Miki was allowed permission to leave the Northern Water Tribe. A boat had been arranged for her to travel to Republic City, the place she wanted to see the most.

Other:
-She can use any other properties that consists of water. Even blood bending, though this (like in the show) can only be done on a full moon.
But she hates using it for silly purposes. It's a last resort sort of thing.
-As a Speaker to the Spirits, or Yángshēngqì, there is a connection to the spirit world that's been in her family for years. Through meditation she can access the world, but this leaves her body immobile till she is either forced out or chooses to leave.
-Even though she's a waterbender, her favorite colors are green and pale pink.
-Miki owns a buffalo yak named Atka (means "Spirit"). He's her main transportation.
(What does a buffalo yak look like? Like this )
