-Welcome to the Team, Rookies-

Sweat drips down the back of your neck and into slides down your back. You're riding in a passenger seat of a military hovercraft. En route, you've seen dunes of sand and bone dry wasteland outside the windows, but now you find yourself amid balding mountains and obelisks of stone. In the briefing, they said that you were being sent to investigate some strange seismic activity originating in the wastes between Adder and the Mainland. Major Glen Allman called this place ‘Garish’.

You look around you. Everyone in this craft is in the same boat you are. You’re just as nervous and unsure as they are. You see, today is your first mission as part of the special A.S.E.A task force, the Technologically Enhanced Capture and Kill Squad (TECKS). Your squad comes from all walks of life. Some of them are cyborgs with implanted computers and motors. Others are decked out in fantastic exo-suits. Some of them appear to be tinkerers, and others still just seem like your average soldier. While you all endured the same rigorous training prior to joining the team, a few of your squad mates have been trained as soldiers for years, others were offered the position for their vast knowledge in super technology.

Regardless of your backgrounds, you are all equal in the face of an unknown superhuman threat.

The major stands at the front of the cabin, with his finger to his ear. He’s listening to a dispatcher back at HQ. When he gets off the line, he takes the attention of the squad, “Everyone, listen up. We’ve been given up to date information about the target. Satellite surveillance confirms that the target is a massive construct, and it has been making a beeline towards the Lozapin settlement. The settlement has been feeling the tremors made by the construct for days now.”

“Intelligence has a hunch that the recent reported behavior and disappearance of local archeologist Ken Conners, may be related. Our orders are to neutralize the threat, by any means necessary. If the professor is involved, we are to bring him back to Headquarters, dead or alive. ”
Major Allman turns his head and nods, “We’re nearing the landing site. Good luck, rookies.”

Each player starts out at PL 1, with 20pp to spend at their discretion. All characters must have a technology background.
As a side note, this role-play is running parallel to Ele’s. You may be enrolled in both with separate characters, if you feel up to it. I plan to make this campaign challenging, so be prepared, and reap the rewards!

Tip #1: Don’t spend all of your points in one place! Devices and equipment can be disarmed! Powers can be nullified! At the same time, a character without these may be at a loss as well!

Tip #2: Don’t forget skills and feats! On powers, experiment with extras, flaws, and power feats! They come in handy all over the place, and add all kinds of dimensions to the campaign and your character!

Beta sat her eyes darting about a bit as she received some data from her PDA. "Yes..." she states offhandedly as she responds to something one of the devices transmitted "no, I understand that. Bring up more intel on Conners, I dont need all of the climate data, we are currently in transit." She states as she brings the pda up from her pack and taps about on the screen focusing the device so that she could get exactly what she wanted out of it. She glances up as the Major spoke. She didn't much care for the mission, or even being on the team. ASEA assigned her too it and so she would do her best, but she would rather be on a team that made it a higher priority to save all soft assets. "...Is that all the Intel we have on the construct. Do we have any information on its size or relative velocity?" she states curiously not so well behaved with 'proper channels of communication' she was far more used to how devices would just respond to her question without needing to prod or be 'polite'. "Assuming the tremors are related to the construct that means its size must be considerable, or it has extremely enhanced mass, perhaps a dark matter drive or something equivalent to that. Also tremors, does that infer that the construct is mobile by some form of leg based locomotion and not wheel or tread?" Beta continued to chatter on with questions about the intel even as they neared the landing site, it was likely she could just garner the information from her PDA. "Also, is mister Conners considered a soft asset, an expendable asset, or a possible hostile?" she adds more or less questioning the 'dead or alive' dictum.

Mark was a rather looming figure as he stood in the transport holding onto a traveling harness with his hand. his features were hidden by the unique helmet his suit provided who's most defining features had to be the green tinted lenses that protected his eyes from minor debris and overly bright sunlight. his medium length green hair stuck out the base of the helmet loosely not really shedding anymore light on who he was besides hair color. A girl spoke up who caught his attention and through minor observation and hearing her commentary it was quite clear that she was here as a technical expert. "I'm curious about the construct too; what is it made of?" His voice resonated through the re-breather he wore making him sound akin to a certain sci-fi villain from a very famous trilogy of movies. He was sure the answers would come, after all they had spent a long time training for things like this. It had been months since Mark got this opportunity and he didn't even recognize any of the faces here, it made him wonder how many training camps were established for this crew.

Rachel sat a little uncomfortable in her chair, she had been wearing her suit for a few days now, while it was comfortable to wear, it still felt a little out of place on her body, she was wearing her new combat outfit over it, because of the suit she was no long able to wear the normal A.S.E.A uniform, and had to make a new version for herself, she had decide to wear a long sleeve black top and a matching pair of cargo pants, she used the pockets of which to her tool set in, next to her was her Raptor Rifle. Rachel look around the cabin as she tried to get comfortable in her seat.

Rachel looked around the hovercraft from her seat, checking out the people around her, from the briefing she had been given, these would be the people she would be working with in the mission. She signed a little as she adjusted herself in the chair again, as she moved to get her weapon, and began doing checks on it, to ensure it would be working properly once things got started.

-Description: This small device shaped like a Motorcycle Battery has a simple dial with multiple settings, giving Roger options when taking shots at his targets. This has not yet been tested with automatic weapons and Roger errs on the side of caution when faced with the option of using it on one. Attached is a belt harness that lets him carry the item without having to constantly adjust it or himself for maximum mobility and comfort when being used.

Roger was not pleased. Of all the amateur mistakes, he left his rifle. Fortunately, he had unwittingly prepared for such accidents. His Power Pack was designed to be plugged into many different weapons and he'd even managed enough foresight to have his pistol fitted with a plug. He felt unprepared without his rifle, eying Rachel's own Raptor enviously. God, how could he have left his damned rifle behind?! He wasn't about to be a Sandman when his "sand" came out of a small caliber sidearm and had all the range of a straw and some spitballs. He was so very, very pissed off with himself. His hand rested on his pistol while he growled and grumbled about his mistakes.

The soldier listened to Beta chattering with her PDA like it was someone not willing to share everything. He kept having to fight a habitual urge to curl his fingers over his rifle barrel and rest his chin on top of the rest they created. No rifle, no chin rest. He shook his head and went ahead with ignoring the actual techies. If his job was to tell people what to do he'd worry about it then. If only he'd been smart enough to bring his rifle he wouldn't have to worry about anything except calling out hostiles and shooting the rest. Oh well, he was going to still shoot people. Probably a lot of point-blank shots in the face though...Not a lot of alternatives after all.

The major chuckled at Beta's slew of questions, "That's everything. It's big, and it's moving slowly, considering it's been traveling for days and hasn't reached the settlement yet. Legs? Probably, but we'll find out in a moment, won't we? And as for Conners, all that the briefing said is that if you see him, they want his body. It's not nearly as technical as you're making it into."

The heavy breathing suited soldier took it upon himself to ask more questions. Major Allman groaned, "Listen up, Rookies. I'm not sure what they told you in basic training, but TECKS isn't like any other team you've been on previously. As a part of this task force, you're given all of the information that Intel knows, and the core objectives for the mission. After that, the rest is up to your interpretation. As long as you follow the core objectives set down by the higher ups, the mission is a success, got it?"

With a smirk, Glen looked out the side of the hovercraft, and said, "If you look portside, you'll find the answers to your questions."

Between the crusty, barren hills was a strip of earth. At the center of the strip was a dust cloud that was big enough that it could easily swallow up ten of the hovercrafts that the team was held in. As the hovercraft swooped around the cloud, the sound of grinding boulders overtook the hum of the hover-engines.

The hot, stagnant air suddenly kicked up, and blew away the top of the cloud, revealing the monstrosity within. It took the form of a giant hand, standing at about eighty feet (or 24.4 meters) tall. It was composed of tan, orange, and brown stone. Partway up the back of the hand was the front of an ancient temple. It had stone figures and engravings, and even a threshold, but no visible openings into the construct. Near the top of the hand was a huge disk of blood red crystal that twinkled in the harsh desert sun.

It stepped along the dusty strip, each of its finger tips pierced the earth with a mighty tremor that shook the ground.

Allman motioned to the pilot to set down the ship at the far end of the strip. The hovercraft swooped down about a half-mile from the massive stone hand, and stopped about three feet from the ground. "Remember, neutralize the threat, and capture Conners if you see him. Good luck, Rookies!"

Beta oddly enough wasn't expecting very good answers from the major, she just liked to blather. Like a machine she liked to ask questions even if they were going to come up with an answer that really didn't change any variables. She held a hand out in front of her for a moment as she put the PDA away. The pack on her back clicked and whirred a little as the locks released from the metal tendril like appendages. The clawed appendages grabbed a hold of anchor points inside the transport as she leaned too look out where he said to look. Sure enough there was a massive dust cloud and as they drew in closer she saw the dust clear out and reveal the massive, well construct was the best term for it, seeing as Beta didn't believe in magic it had to be some kind of odd tech. She narrowed her eyes and stared at it until its shape was more apparent. A giant hand was literally walking across the terrain. She blinked a few times and her mouth hung agape for a moment, she expected something big, but not quite THAT big. She counted silently the timing in between the heavy thuds of its steps to decide about how quickly it was moving. As well as sizing it up using some math the thing was well at least fifty feet tall from what she could conjecture, if she could have had something better to reference its size against maybe she would have gotten a more accurate guess. "Huh... yea well, alright then." she states blinking down at the odd situation.
As the transport came in to the LZ Beta was still unsure what was expected of them, especially dropping them off on the ground in front of it. "Are there... anti aircraft defenses on its upper surface?" Beta questions as she looked at the construct. "Higher up looked like a possible LZ. Though there didn't appear to be any openings... I ... Just fail to see how we are supposed to assault the thing from its finger tips, its so huge, and I don't think any of us are carrying climbing equipment." Beta states clearly disregarding the appropriate chain of command and communication as she directly questioned the approach. Even though she was asking questions the claws grabbed a different set of anchor points and she positioned herself at the jump door. The claws held the anchor points and she lowered herself to the ground, she wasn't about to stay down there without soem answeres however so she kept ahold of the ship so that if she didn't learn anything good she could pull herself right back up inside the transport.

((so yea, she's just holding onto the ship, cause I dunno how we supposed to do a ground assault XD dont know what else to do sorry that this doesn't really help anything o.o))

The girl who spoke up first had a very unique device strapped to her back that reminded him of a certain super-villain from vintage comic books he had seen once before, of course they were reprints the originals would probably be considered priceless had the hard copies survived the test of time.

Rachel look out the window of the hovercraft and look at the massive colossus that stood outside in the distances, and then looked at the rest of the hovercraft. "Ok so how the hell are we meant to take that out?". She said holding her gun a little closer as she moved from her seat and got ready exited the hovercraft, in her mind she went over how much damage her weapon could do, it was alright but she was sure it wouldn't be enough to take on something like that, it was too big, meaning it would be easy to hit but dealing any real damage was out unless she was hitting some weak spot.

"huh... right..." Beta states as she released her hold on the hovercraft and set herself down on the ground completely. It seemed that everyone else shared her skepticism about this approach. However their C.O. made it clear that this was the plan and it was how it was going to be done. She made a few adjustments as the claws spun and clicked together some. "okay then. Suppose the last one in, is a rotten egg." she states thrusting the limbs of the grapple pod at the ground, she pushed off the ground and used them like legs to move towards the lumbering behemoth of an opponent. She watched some statistics flicker across her visor and she grinned slightly. Hitting the thing wouldn't be the problem really, it would be doing any REAL damage that would be the problem. The thing was a fairly large distance away so right now the only real option was to move on the target immediately. "Get movin!" she shouts back over her shoulder at the others, this seemed like an odd assignment but like she had already figured, it was likely the ASEA was trying to send her on a suicide mission anyway so why hold back anything. She still couldn't believe they would be dropped that far away from it. While on the way their she started mentally working out some form of plan, but at this distance it was best to plan while moving.

"Not exactly how I'd choose to confront a building sized enemy but whatever, I'll do whatever I can" Zero exclaimed with a shrug before hopping free of the vehicle. he landed softly the dirt settling under his boots as he looked over the machine. "Beats me, you don't think it has an off button do you?" he commented to the other power suited team member rather casually. He began the half mile trek towards the colossal structure though the distance had been closed a bit it was still a ways off. "It would be nice if we had jet packs wouldn't it?" He addressed the other male member while they traveled onward without the slightest inkling on how to take the beast out.
