I wanted to discuss this with everyone in here.
There's lots of talk of needing to have the "metal" image if you're going to claim you're a fan of metal. I'm somewhat known in my local metal scene, and on various sites known as a metalhead. But I get my fair share of folks saying I'm fake, or a poser. Both online and off, due to the fact that I'm hardly EVER in all black, I wear lots of pinks and bright colors, bright make up and seriously pink everything, I had my hair all hot pink at one point.
Honestly, I don't like to dress in the typical "metal" image, at least how women must be portrayed. I don't like to wear corsets because I like to breathe, and I don't feel comfortable showing off that much skin. Leather mini skirts and fishnets aren't my thing, leather anything really isn't my thing... I'm really into pink, and lace, frills, pastels and stuff like that. But don't get me wrong, I can get on stage with my guitar and make your face bleed and headbang to the heaviest stuff I can get my hands on.
Anyway, what is your opinion on this? Agree? Disagree?

My style is basically band t-shirts, skinny jeans, eyeliner, and black or red hair. I've been called 'Scene' (Which kind of pisses me off) 'Gothic' 'Punk' Ect. I've never believed in labels. A person should never be judged on what they wear, but who they are. I have even been called a rebel before I've even spoken a word. However, I've never been called a poser after claiming to be a metal head. Mostly because REAL metal head women would not go to a concert in a mini skirt, corset, and fishnets. If you're a metal head, you know to go in comfy clothing, because you're not there to pick up every pervert with the same taste in music as you; you're there to love the music, and be able to dance, mosh, and be able to feel your feet after. At least, that's my opinion. Every woman I've met that has worn clothing like that to a metal concert, never even knew one song. Sweetie, even though you wear pink n' s**t, I'm going to think you're girly, but that doesn't mean I don't believe you're a metal head. heart (I can't help but to respect the pink thing though. I wouldn't be caught dead in pink. =P)

I dont consider myself a metalhead by any degree, I enjoy all forms of music. However I usually do wear black or a shade of gray. I sincerely think that no other colour looks good on me, same with long hair. I have long hair cuz I look butt ugly with short.
Being apart of a subculture such as metal, doesnt mean you have to dress a certain way or have a certain attitude. Metal is about being yourself and being the oppisite of what everyone is expecting you to be.
Alot of people are forgetting that.

Metalheads are, by definition, people who absolutely love metal there's no dress code or conduct like you have with emo and goth Metal is about speaking out against "the man" telling everyone how pissed you are. It's expression of anger, but by no means satanic in nature There are some exceptions, but then again, it's MUSIC! Take Megadeth for example (I know their stuff well, so I'ma use them) Some of the songs were out to poke Dave's ex wife (Tornado of Souls, Good-bye 1000 Times, Last Rites, Loved to Death, just to name a few (not sure about the last song though)). Lashing out and letting those anger feelings out without being a whiny b***h about it is what makes metal awesome! EDIT: and also, like mentioned above, you show that you're not like others and follow the beat of your own drum.

It's silly for me to get the blunt end of everyone's anger at a concert because I showed up in a frilly pink skirt and blouse, I mosh harder than anyone there!

Anybody that has a problem with it I kind of just say emotion_dealwithit I absolutely love this kind of music and anybody that says I'm a "poser" or has a problem with what I listen to. They can suck my HEAVY METAL NUTS!!!!
