Mei had finally finished unpacking all the boxes in her dorm. With a little help from her newly found friend Alex of course. His help made things move a long a lot faster than if she had had to do all the unpacking by herself.

The ghoul sat in her swively chair, turning round and round in a circle as she watched her dorm room spin round and round around her. Putting a foot down onto the floor, she stopped suddenly. Glancing over to her pet Feslime who was sleeping in his goo covered bed near her bed. Goop liked to sleep like a puddle, filling out the entire bed with his gooey body.

"Augh! So bored!" She finally proclaimed. There really just hadn't been much to do. There was a lot of excitement around about the Four Horsemen Clans, to which she knew a decent amount about. Enough to know kinda of what was going on anyway. But the trials had all happened right before she had arrived at Amityville. That was a bit of a bummer but some of the stories she had heard of the trials made her skin crawl....if it could crawl. Being undead did have its advantages in that she surmised.

Goop hadn't moved from his goopy state as Mei narrowed her eyes at him just slightly. He could be so lazy sometimes. She loved him though and wouldn't have him any other way. Though sometimes she wished he was a bit more active.

So for Mei she now had to make a command decision. Find something to do or die...again...of boredom. First option seemed best. Quickly she slipped her shoes on and headed towards the door. "I'll be back in a little while, I'm gonna go explore the school a bit. Hold down the fort until I get back, Goop!"

The Feslime burbled indignantly. But his burbles and bubbles went unheard as Mei slipped out of her room and quickly closed the door behind her.

As she continued along, the air around her started to grow a little more dense. The concrete path soon gave way to dirt and before she knew it Mei was surrounded by tons of vegetation. The odor that wafted through her nostrils was strong and pungent. An odor of severe and constant decomposition.

Mei took a deep breath. It reminded her of when she first woke up in her burial place. Musky and damp. A small smile came to her face as she slowly continued down the path. She figured she had reached the swamps that were near the Monster dorms. Maybe she would find something interesting here. But exactly what she couldn't be sure. There could be tons of little creatures scurrying about. Or objects buried in the muck and slime around her.

It was an exciting thought. If she found something super special maybe she could show Alex or Mitzi!

Coming to a small, sludgy stream Mei quickly jumped across on a small path of slime covered stones that just barely peeked above the surface. She put her hands on her hips and laughed in triumph. "No sludge bath for me today!"

Soon Mei came upon what appeared to be a small spring. Its waters bubbled and belched sulfur, filling the air with a rotten egg smell. Now, the ghoul could stand most putrid smells but the air was so rife with it that it made her kind of dizzy.

Leaning over the edge of the spring, she peered down into its murky depths. Algae so thick she could barely see through it's surface. Picking up a twig nearby, she poked at some of the algae collecting on the surface. Swirling it about, trying to clear some of it away so that she could get a better look at what was beneath the liquid's surface.

Another flash of movement brought the Jiang Shi's attention to a bed of what seemed to be plants. Strange flowers and winding vines seemed to carpet the ground of the swamp oddly enough in this one spot. The flowers is what drew her attention the most. She had never seen these kinds in all of her Undead life. Even the flower shops in Halloween that boasted to have the most exotic flowers and plants never had ones like these.

She was in awe and amazement. Drawing closer to the flower bed, she knelt on one knee. Peering down at the varying flowers and plants. "Ohhhh, these are so pretty! I wonder if I could take some back to the school. They'd make for an interesting conversation piece...." The ghoul bit her thumb nail. It was too tempting to just leave them here, but what if her taking them caused some sort of bad reaction to the swamp. Or they were deadly to one of the races at the school?

There tangled up amongst the vines and plants was a tiny little Venus Flycat kitten. Its eyes popped open wide upon its discovery as it screeched and tried to free itself from it's entanglement.

Mei giggled lightly again. "Ohhhh so it was you hm? Such a mighty beast you are. Giving this poor little ghoul such a fright!" She reached in towards the kitten, trying to get around it's flailing claws as it struggled for freedom.

"Now just hold still. I'm trying to get you loose and you are just getting even more tangled up." Putting all caution to the wind she grabbed hold of the kitten and yanked all the vines away from it. Rescuing the kitten from its viney entrapment, Mei stood from her kneeling position with the tiny kit in her hands.

It screeched and spit at her, swiping a few times at her face which she dodged just barely. "Is that any way to treat your rescuer? What are you doing out here all by yourself little one? Where's your mama and papa?" Mei glanced about to see if perhaps there were some older Venus Flycats nearby but she spotted none. And none seemed to be rushing to their kitten's rescue.

"Are you out here all on your own?" The kitten stopped thrashing about, giving Mei what seemed to be a very very sad look. "Awww, you are all on your own aren't you. Poor thing." She held the kitten against her chest, petting her small head lovingly.

Then she had an idea. "Oh! I know! You can come back with me to the school and live with me in the doorm. Goop could totally use a new friend and I think you two would just be the best buddies in the world!" She held the kitten out in front of her, her hands just beneath her armpits letting the kitten's legs dangle in the air.

Cuddling the kitten to her chest, Mei started to make her way back out of the swamp. Glad that what she had found wasn't something that was trying to harm her.

She smiled down at the little Venus Flycat kitten in her arms as she headed back towards the Undead dorms. "You need a name...." Mei thought for a moment. "How about Minsks? I think that's a good name don't you?" The kitten screeched. Mei wasn't sure if that was a screech of approval or not but it was settled. Little Minsks would live with her now. Hopefully Goop wouldn't be too put off with the thought of having to share his space.
