From piecing together criticism of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Kid Icarus Uprising, as well as seeing Sakurai's patterns of direction, I strongly believe that Smash Bros. 4 will have a much greater focus on online multiplayer.

Obviously, the biggest complaint of Brawl was its online, which didn't actually bother me too much, but was still desperately in need of repair. Well, Sakurai has always been a listener to his internet communities and followers, though he likes to toy with them a lot. For Kid Icarus Uprising, one of the most surprising features was its extensive online play; in fact, Kid Icarus Uprising was the first game to utilize the Nintendo Network - Nintendo's new online service.

Personally, I'm a fan of local play. If I had the choice to play with people I'm friends locally, compared to playing with some people online, I'm clearly going to choose to the local play, reason being it brings tons more excitement.

For online, my most desired feature is talking to the opponents. Nintendo said they are going to make the Wii U more personal, so I'm assuming that also means they are scrapping the Wii Speak and finally designing headsets.

I also hope for more diverse game modes, especially stock-based battles because two minute long point games are just not my thing.
