I repeat this is not part of the storyline.
In this godforsaken place, it's hard to find a place that's enjoyable, even harder to find one that's safe. The top of an old corporate building was as close as Erika could get. She couldn't complain, a good view, relatively safe, oddly personalized, this rooftop had been Erika's "home" for the past few months following the overrunning of her own home.
She carried all of her keepsakes in a knapsack or her cargo pants which she tried to keep as clean as possible. It's hard to stay civilized in times like this, where dried blood stains became "clean" and a can of fruit became a "full meal" but she had to hold on to something. She knew she'd have to leave here sometime. Her food supply was running low again, and this time there was no convenient corner store to rob packed foods from.
As her stomach started to growl Erika finally gave in," Well, I survived once, what better time to die than when you're desperate...?" she asked herself." When this is all over," she answered herself. Talking to herself had become more of a hobby than a habit. Being alone can do that to someone. Erika reached into her bag and pulled out a pair of binoculars. She focused on a office building, a bakery, and a few abandoned apartments. Three places that looked none at all promising.

Erika made her way down the stairs as fast as she could. She managed to go for a few floors without trouble, until she got about halfway down. This hoard was relatively small but she knew she'd have to tread carefully. She ran into the room, her boots cracking bones on the corpse-littered floor as she went.
The zombies took notice but couldn't out run her.
Erika had already reached a midpoint on the stairway by time the fastest one had reached the top. She readies her gun and blows the zombie back through the doorway into some others then continued running. She met a zombie on the staircase and decided to go melee. She bashed him with the barrel of her gun and put it away. She then took a little extra time to hack off it's leg with her hunting knife and keep it as a weapon. The next few zombies were met with a bloody foot to the face courtesy of a severed leg.
She finally reached the ground floor... just to be ambushed by another small party of zombies. She quickly caught one in and arm lock and ripped it's arm clean off, then kicked it into another zombie. She then readied her knife and stabbed a second one through the face. She kicked it away and swung the arm behind her, slapping a zombie silly. She slapped him a few more times just for fun, then pulled a cartwheel to crush his head against the ground. The previous hoard was catching up so she dropped the arm, stowed her knife, readied her gun and fired. Blasting a zombie's head off and sending it's body backwards into the mob. She did what she could so she ran, ran as fast as she could, her first stop, the bakery.

Of course this didn't seem to be her best idea. The place was desolate. she checked a few loaves of moldy bread for any edible pieces. Sadly they were covered to the core in god knows what. She left the bakery, defeated. Her next move, she decided would be the office building. Living spaces tended to be full of undead tenants waiting to eat the landlord's face. She noticed a large group of zombies about both buildings and decided to sneak in if possible. She ducked into a nearby alley, to watch the scene. A zombie was inches behind her when she screamed and donkey kicked him. She then got creative with the knife to finish the job. She focused her binoculars on the building for any sign of an opening, constantly checking behind herself to make sure she didn't get surprised again

Erika surveyed the area, hoping for an opening. It was then that she noticed a faint light... a flashlight? someone was in there? Erika sprung to action immediately. She readied her gun and ran toward the hoard. "Whoever that unlucky b*****d is, I gotta get to 'em before they do!" she informed herself. She blasted zombies out of her way as she went, making sure to pull a roundhouse every so often to cover her sides. She reached the building and jumped, catching the bottom of a hole in the wall. She pulled herself in and fell down onto a pile of dead bodies. " That's gonna leave a stain..." she mumbled looking at her now bloody pants. She looked around to see where she was. The room was full of file cabinets... and a girl passed out on the floor. Erika silently crept up to the girl. " You okay?" she asked. No answer. she shook the girl and asked again," are you okay?" Erika placed two fingers on her neck, she had a pulse. She was alive! Unconscious but alive! The time for celebration was short lived. Erika heard footsteps. She picked up the girl and got ready to run, but was stopped by a woman's voice. It was asking... if she was alive. Erika found this question rather stupid, as anything not alive would not answer her. Still she couldn't resist answering," No, I'm a freakin zombie, show yourself!" she yelled in the direction of the voice.
