Lydia Cross The whole walk over was ridden with arguments and banter between Dune and Lydia. The locals stared, wondering just how crazy they really were, and they'd completely missed the openings for the pokemon contest on the televisions in the market windows. "A type advantage doesn't mean you instantly win!"
"Hahaha! More often than not it does! Admit it!"
But the banter stopped when they noted three figures ahead, probably up to no good. Again... "The pokemon inside are ripe for the picking, the gymleader is no where to be found, and we can't even get in," Madison growled. "This think is locked tighter than my grandmother's arthritis..." "Why don't we just knock, and trick whoever answers into taking us right to the pokemon?" Chris said seriously, pondering why the simple solution wasn't at hand. "Don't be ridiculous! It's not a pokemon center with some empty headed nurse Joy!" Madison smacked him.
"Oh not you guys again," Lydia frowned.
"Hey, ya... you're those losers who got lost in the forest," Dune was slow to catch on.
"We're not losers! And beat it! The gym leader isn't even here!" Madison roared. "And you squirts were lost in there too! Don't be so high and mighty!" Chris called out with her.
"I'll bet your after the gym pokemon, aren't you?" Lydia accused.
"Actually we're just passing by. It's pointless to steal from a place that's impossible to break into." Madison huffed.
"You said the gymleader isn't here?" Dune blinked. "Then... where is she?"
"Heck if I know," Madison scowled. "She went into the park-place outside of town."
"Park?" Lydia fiddled with her pokegear.
"You mean the conversational park?" Dune corrected.
"Looked really upset going in," Chris tilted his head. "And we didn't even cause it this time."
"Maybe something happened..." Lydia thought aloud.
"Might be some trouble with the pokemon in the reserve," Dune added. "We should go and look for her!"
"Should we really get involved? I mean, the gymleader can probably handle it." Lydia looked back at him.
"I didn't say that," Dune said, feeling clever. "I said we should look for the gymleader. If we help whatever is going on, it'll just be a coincidence."
"Alright," Lydia greed easily. And with a nod, the two took off again.
"Pokemon?" "In the reserve?" Chris and madison pondered a moment, and grinned.

Adam Angeal de la Tierra I don't have big dreams, I have big goals! After being nearly suffocated by the boy known as 'Dune', Adam was dragged to the gym which he actually didn't mind. His reason for coming here was the same as theirs, to challenge the gym leader. Dune seemed to be very confident about himself and his skills which Adam liked about him. If you had a good optimistic view then there was a chance for better results. He liked his enthusiasm, but really wished he didn't crush him with his arms. While listening to their arguing (Adam found it very amusing), he happened to hear the girl's name which was Lydia. Once they all reached the gym they were greeted by another group. Adam remembered seeing them in the forest, but because he came so late to the scene it seemed that he missed on some earlier events. Lydia and Dune seemed to know these people quite well and they labeled them as a misfit duo.
According to the man and the woman, the gym leader was not present and it seemed she went to a park located outside the town. Dune suspected that there might trouble so they wanted to go and investigate this. Lydia seemed hesitant at first, but Dune's clever remark convinced her to go to the park. Adam decided to tag along with this group, he could sense adventure coming and he did not want to miss the call. Adam followed the strange duo, he wanted to see the gym leader too. While he was leaving, he looked over at the two people who told them about the gym leader's absence. They grinning....that worried Adam.

 Dune Bromiester
Dune stood at the door, shaking, stiff, and almost unable to open it. He gulped hard as he looked at the door, the daunting door that stood between him and the gym. "I'm go'n in!!!" He roared, flinching as his body buckled down. So much so, that he missed Lydia walk right in without hesitation.
"Hurry up," She said, though only being a spectator. She was allowed to watch. Besides, it would give her a better idea about what the gymleaders in the region were all about.
"H-hey!" Dune ran in after her. "I'm here for my gymbattle!" He called in an echo around the room. "I've thought long and hard about the kind of battle I want, and I've decided." He announced with a false sense of confidence. "I've decided on a three round match! Just like the good ol' days!" He looked directly across the battle field, a fire in his eyes. "And my team is all set for this too!"
"So the challenger gets to make the rules?" Lydia blinked, leaning over the railing in a relaxed manner. "Wouldn't that put the gymleader at a disadvantage? I mean, a challenger can say that he wants to use all six of his pokemon against just one of the gymleader's and that's the rule." She glanced back at Dune. In a way, she admired him for making an honorable rule. She had to give him credit for that!

Adam Angeal de la Tierra I don't have big dreams, I have big goals! Adam yawned and stretched as he rested against the gym's gate. He was too anxious about today so he woke up early to check on his Tepig. Nurse Joy told him that he was fully healed and that he would be ready to battle gym leader. Apparently word of their challenge to the gym leader spread through the Pokemon Center so Nurse Joy wished him good luck. Dune and Lydia were still sleeping and he didn't want to wake them up so instead he decided to head to the gym. Tepig and Gastly were with him and Adam wondered how he would battle the gym leader. She was obviously a very powerful trainer and he really doubted that a novice like him would stand a chance against her. His only Pokemon was his Spitfire, Tepig, and he didn't even know all of his Pokemon's moves. Spitfire knew Ember, Yawn, Sleep Talk, and one other move that he didn't know about called 'Superpower'. He knew that Bug-type Pokemon were weak against Fire-type attacks, but he wasn't confident that he could win even with that type advantage.
Gastly was still with him and it didn't seem like he would be leaving any time soon, but Adam wasn't sure if that meant he was now his Pokemon or not. "Hey, Gastly?" The ghost-type Pokemon looked over at the blonde-haired boy, "will you fight by my side against the pretty gym leader?" Gastly smiled nodding and licked him. Adam shivered, but smiled nonetheless, "awesome! In that case..." he took out his Pokedex an pointed it at Gastly.
--Gastly, the Gas Pokémon. Some researchers believe this Pokémon is a Multidimensional being.
Adam smiled once Gastly was recorded in his Pokedex. He clicked through the options in order to read Gastly's stats as well as to look at what kind of moves it possessed. "Let's see...wow, you're really fast! And you have great Special Attack," he looked at his move pool, "so you know Hypnosis, Lick, Disable, and...Sludge Wave?" Adam blinked and checked his Pokedex again. Apparently Gastly was part Poison-type meaning he could learn some poison moves like this powerful Sludge Wave. He petted the ghost Pokemon, "you're pretty incredible, Gastly." Maybe he did stood a chance against the gym leader? He had the combined powers of Spitfire and Gastly.
Dune and Lydia finally arrived. Adam waved at them and gave them a shy smile, "g-good morning." Dune seemed to be pretty excited about his challenge and he was glad to see that he was back to his normal cheerful self. Lydia seemed to return to her former self as well. Adam followed after them inside the gym where the gym leader was surely waiting for them. Gastly seemed to be especially happy about seeing the pink-haired woman again so he was anxious. Dune suddenly shouted his arrival as well as the rules that he would be battling with. Adam over heard Lydia mention something about the challenger making the rules.
"W-We are allowed to make the rules?" Adam asked to Lydia approaching her near the rails that she was leaning against. His curiosity was keeping him from being too shy around her at the moment. "Will you be challenging the gym leader as well?"Current Team: Wild Pokemon:

  Evangeline Zegale
Evangeline nodded to the boy across the battle field, agreeing to his terms. "That's a noble rule you've made. But you really should have thought about it better." She pulled up her first pokeball.
"The battle between Evangeline of the Pendant City Gym, and Dune the challenger will begin. This battle will be a standard three rounds, and the best two out of three will be the winner," The judge decreed. "Begin!" He called, exciting Evangeline's son to cheer her on.
"Beautifly! Time for a battle!" She called out her pokemon choice for the first round. There was no surprise why the gym badge was in the shape of a butterfly, or why it was called the "flutter badge". The former ghost trainer was now a butterfly trainer. "Since you're the challenger, I'll let you have the first move," She called again. Though, compared to yesterday's fiasco, choosing beautifly over volcanora was something of a surprise at first. Unless she was saving it for last like most gym leaders. 'It looks like I might be able to do two battles today,' she smiled.

 Dune Bromiester
Lydia looked up at Adam a moment, shrugging her answer and looking back on the field. "If she's got two battles today, probably not." She said, kicking her feet in a bored and agitated way. At least until the match was announced and Evangeline's first choice pokemon appeared. Lydia's face changed, recognizing it a bit. "Hey, ya... My sister had one of those," She fished out her pokedex.
Beautifly, the butterfly pokemon. Although Beautifly have a gentle appearance, it has been known to be very aggressive. It savagely attacks other Pokémon by sucking their body fluids if it is disturbed while sipping nectar. In forested areas such as Pokémon preserves, they can be seen flying overhead in groups.
"That would be an ideal choice for the gymleader..." She muttered.
"Hey, pretty or not, a battle's a battle!" Dune roared up with equal excitement. 'I was hoping to use Latios, but ground type attacks won't help here.' He picked out his choice: "Go Entei!" He called out his totodile. It jumped high and flexed as it was eager to battle. "Entei, Open up with leer and head in with Rage!" He called, already charging in. the water type gave the beautifly a serious look with leer, and scowled as rage was used to charge. "Lydia! You better watch and see how a pro wins!" He referred to himself, unable to help tease her.

Adam Angeal de la Tierra I don't have big dreams, I have big goals! Adam took out his Pokedex to gather data about Beautifly, the gym leader's first Pokemon. He pointed his Pokedex at Dune's Pokemon which he had nicknamed 'Entei.
--Totodile, the Big Jaw Pokémon. Totodile has a habit of using its highly developed jaws to chomp on anything in sight, so Trainers beware.
Dune's Pokemon looked like quite the fighter meaning this battle could be interesting, but he couldn't doubt the gym leader's strength. She managed to defeat the man who took all three of them down with a single attack. Adam knew he probably didn't stand a chance against the gym leader, but the fact that he could choose the rules of the battle did give him a huge advantage. Maybe he could choose a challenge that would place him in each grounds with the gym leader. He wasn't as strong as her, but strength wasn't everything, right? He turned to Lydia suddenly feeling a new confidence rising inside him. "Let's do our best Lydia! We should cheer for Dune and show him our support. I will cheer for you too when its your turn to challenge her." He smiled then looked back at the battle. Dune made his first move now it was time to see how the gym leader countered.Current Team: Wild Pokemon:

  Evangeline Zegale
Evangeline smiled, a bit of a laugh in confidence behind it. "You'll have to do better than that," She said. With a wave of her hand, she gave her command. Beautifly had taken leer, but totodile was slow on its feet. "Beautifly, use protect!" She called. A green aura-like sphere went around the bug-type, and bounced back totodile's attack with ease. "Now go in with Aerial ace!" She whipped her hand for it to charge. In a quick flash, beautifly slammed in head long into "Entei". The round was over.
"Totodile is unable to battle," The judge called.
"You did well, beautifly," Evangeline complimented her pokemon. "But now for round two. And traditionally, each trainer presents a new pokemon. So, my next choice is: Dustox!" She called out beautifly's counterpart. "The challenger still has the first move."

 Dune Bromiester
"Entei..." Dune looked terribly at his pokeball with the recalled totodile. "You gave it your best shot," He smiled. "But let's try something new! Go Latias!" He called out his small misdreavous.
"Latias?" Lydia blinked. 'Some pro! He's never battled with this pokemon and the gym leader is way out of his level!' She put her hands over her eyes in a grimacing anticipation, "I can't look..." She muttered.
"Alright Latias! Charge in with psywave!" Dune called, and the excited pokemon quickly powered in. "We're not let'n 'em get away this time!" He grinned, over confident yet again.

 Evangeline Zegale
Evangeline nodded at her next "challenge". She had to give him credit for his spirit and spunk. It had been a long time since she found a challenger so young and inexperience who had that sort of pep in him. "Dustox, use lightscreen," She called calmly. The moth pokemon put up a shield, still taking the attack, but barely having a feel to it. "Now use bug buzz!" She stayed calm, certain of the battle's outcome. "Sending a ghost type against a bug type was brave, but it left you at a big disadvantage."
Then the ref called it. "Misdreavous is unable to battle!"
Evangeline recalled her dustox, bringup the pokemon she'd chosen for the final round: "Mothim!" She called out her last choice, waiting for Dune's pick.

 Dune Bromiester
"Is it over?" Lydia muttered. Finally, she couldn't take it, and peaked between her fingers.
"Latias, take a break," He called his pokemon back to its ball. "It was a good first try." He stopped a moment, unsure of whether he should call it quits or pick his final pokemon. "I know this looks like a losing situation, but... But it's all good!" His fire came back. "Cause our rematch will be stronger, and it's time to set the rules! Go, Latios!"
"Latios!?" Lydia about fell over. "Latios is a ground type! Dune, you dork!"
Dune just grinned up at her. "Ya, but our rematch will be with the same pokemon! Latios will have evolved by then," He gave her a thumbs up, ignoring the fact that she stuck her tongue at him in return. "Now use bite Latios!"

 Evangeline Zegale
Dune's trapinch was a quick little thing. And it was fast to make its way over and bite on one of mothim's wings. That negated several moves her pokemon could use, and the weight grounded it for as long as trapinch held on. The kid was determined, that's for sure. "Hyper beam." The moth pokemon gathered energy in its mouth, and spat it at the ground type clinging to it.
"Trapinch is unable to battle! The winner is the gym leader!"
"I look forward to the rematch," Evangeline said sincerely.
