 Annie stretched out on the grass with her pokemon family. A pick-nik was a wonderful idea! The weather was perfect: Warm sun, cool breeze, fresh air, gentle cloud cover, soft grass, and the sounds of waves and laughter floating through. "How about sweet watermelon? Pineapple? Strawberries?" She began pulling out fruit, putting down a cutting board and sheathed knife to slice them with. What better way to spend the afternoon than with fresh, sweet summer fruit and catching the set up of the pokemon contest? The creek flowing out made of a wonderful stage! "It's too bad I didn't catch anything. I really wanted to have a contest with my students," She began to dote on the idea. Her pokemon, however, were more interested in snack than anything else. "What do you think about the contest? I don't know who I should cheer for!" She chuckled.

Azrael smiled as Annie was enthusiastic about the contest and the picnic. "I'm at a lost as well." Azrael. "I think I am better of allowing the students a chance to win the contest without fear of me... But have many talented students from the coordination class that can shine brightly at this contest. But the question is which of these trainers have the pokemon for it. I think we'll only see a few of out dear students compete. Mostly in first and second years."
He picked a piece of cut up first and smirked at Annie. "How about a wager between us?"

  {from port} Mia had gone on ahead to the park without Lydia. Her sister had wanted to stay behind with her friends. "Alright Yumi, let's get some practice in," She called out her staryu. "Camouflage, swift, recover, and bubble beam. Those are your attacks, right?" The staryu's jewel just stared up at her. "I think I have an idea then. Why don't we give it a try and see if I have any luck left for contests. Lord know I don't have a particular talent. But I need to make sure I have time to change," she said, lowering her voice to begin explaining the performance idea. "So let's see your jump first and go from there, okay?" The pokemon just stared before giving a its best jump. "That was great! Let's go over nearer to the water and see if that helps."

I know you, I walked with you...
"I hooked a Mudkip, but didn't have the time to catch it." Tori mumbled, taking a look around her. She was sitting cross legged in the grass, her Pokemon egg tucked safely in her lap. "Kinda depressing actually. That little guy was too cute!" Tori cooed, her eyes twinkling.
Anello was over by Lucy, playfully nipping at her feet in an attempt to get her to play. Kira was watching nearby, sitting on her haunches.
"Anello, she's probably not going to play with you." Tori replied, looking at Anello and chuckling. "So come over here and sit down."
Either Anello didn't hear Tori or he was too interested in Lucy and trying to play with her to notice. He continued to try and get the Luxray to play, now playfully batting at her.
"I'm sorry if Anello is bothering Lucy, Professor." Tori said with a slight chuckle. "He's quite a playful little fellow."

 "Its a good thing they excluded evolved pokemon, or Gabriel and I would have won hands down," Lili continued to be snooty. "Of course, Hael would be my first choice, second to cupid in the appeal round; since I haven't come up with anything for Gabriel just yet. Genius takes time you know." She came to the clearing where everyone started to gather. "I hope your ready Maria. It looks like you've got stiff competition! Mia is in there, and I can see Azrael just over there waiting around. and the headmistress looks like she might compete too. So you better be ready and at least make it to the second round." As terrible as it sounds, that was just Lili's way of saying "good luck" and warning her about possible competition to be aware of. "Your appeal has to be absolute if you want a guaranteed spot. But given that you're a beginner, I wouldn't be surprised if you barely made it through to the second round." Well, she at least thought Maria would make it to the second round. it was catching the subtleties in what she said. It wasn't insulting, just coded. Being nice was something she had to practice in when all she really knew was how to be catty. "Now, if you asked nicely, I might have given a demonstration. But that whole event has me tired..."

"Yes Professor, I still do." Tori replied, pulling the Lure Ball out of her bag. She clicked it to full size and added, "I always keep a stock of Pokeballs with me. This one came with that fishing rod my mother sent me."
Anello was still attempting to play with Lucy.
Tori hugged her egg case tightly. It had been who knows how long since she got it, and it showed no signs of hatching any time soon. "I might not be the best out there, but that's what I'm here for, right?" Tori asked, "To learn more about being a trainer?"
Kira had grown bored and wandered back over to Tori, laying obediently at her side. She scratched at the blue bow tied around her ear, attempting to scratch underneath it, until Tori reached a hand out and scratched it for Kira. Kira let out what sounded like a soft purr as she leaned her head into Tori's hand.

Azrael smirked as he nonchalantly ate the fruit. "It's just a small, little wager between us. Originally I was going to us predict what students would win based on the first round performance...." He popped in a fruit when Princess came out of her ball and bowed before looking for 'Prince' who had conveniently decided to say in his ball. "But now I've decided to enter with Princess and if I win, you have to go on a date with me. And if I lose, I have to take you to dinner."
He lifted a brow and as he smiled. Inwardly, he was laughing to himself as he left nothing to chance with his wager. All he had to simply teach a move or two to make her shine more. "I'll hold you to that wager as me and Princess have to get some training before the contest. Adieu ladies."
Azrael returned Princess to her ball, leaving the group for a more secluded area of the Park to train.

Maria Taylor  Location: ~ Park ~Maria deep down believed that Lili was trying to speak words of encouragement it just didn't come off that way to most. It came with being to read people and their cryptic answers. "I'm hoping I get that far." she spoke up realizing that she could be going up against her teachers and that was a rather scary thing. In actuality she would have to out shine them in order to even make the cut and that didn't seem like an easy task. "You'd be way better at this Lili." she admitted know that Lili was good at being the center of attention. Maria just didn't seem to enjoy it as much as Seel did and she knew she'd have to get over her fear if she was going to be top coordinator someday. "Thanks for believing a have a shot at this." she said giving a light smile. Coming from Lili it was a great feeling after all they weren't getting along as well until now. Upon hearing that Lili would give a demonstration of she asked nicely enough Maria lit up. She just had to see what Lili was capable of after all it would definitely get her mind off of having to stand in front of everyone. "Please Lili, I bet you amazing at contests and I could really use the help." "Azrael, you kidder," Annie laughed, waving him off as he dismissed himself with her left hand. Caim's engagement ring softly tucked on her finger. Sweetly the band of the ring shined, while the gem stayed discrete at the top of her hand. It wasn't anything too fancy or elaborate. Simple topaz on a silver band. It was probably the best Caim could afford at the time, but it had quickly become her most cherished possession. She admired simplicity in fact; if Caim had gone out of his way with diamonds, she probably wouldn't have accepted his first asking. Still, there was no harm in sharing dinner with her coworker. After all, she spent the carnival with Rena.
Tori, however, seemed a bit discouraged at the whole thing. "I wouldn't worry about it," She comforted, watching Lucy swat Anello lazily with her tail. "Trainers are like lilly's. So many to pick from. I think you might be more like a stargazer: The smallest in their buds, and slow to grow and bloom. But when they do, they bloom big and beautifully."
Lucy had had it, she gave a small shock to the luxio as he continued to naw on her. If he wasn't going to listen to growls, he'll listen to electricity like all other electric pokemon. Nina, however, became interested to play as Anello became more persistent. It'd been a long time since the fox pokemon was able to act childishly.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Tatsumaki Walked into the park and found a spot to be alone. He pulled A pokeball off his waist and threw it in the air. "Aku, come to me" He smiled as the pokeball opened and a deino appeared in front of him. Tatsu reached over and petted deino and let him sniff his hand. In return, Aku nodded and looked up at blaze. Blaze jumped off his head and in front of aku. Tatsu sat down under a tree and watched his two pokemon. At first they stared each other down. This lead to them chasing each other around. It was like a funny show cause blaze made aku crash into things. Tatsu heard of the contest and sighed "Wish i had a water type but its ok, there are always more." When he looked back at his pokemon he was slammed by blaze against the tree and soon aku crashed into them. They laughed and tatsu petted both of them. "You guys are my only friends" he said low enough for only them to hear. His smile faded "though it would be nice to have one person to talk to." And if we die, I’ll meet you up in ђєคשєภ Breathing in deeply, his stomach feeling just a little fluttery, Vern gracefully walked into the middle of the ring that the contenders were supposed to be in. Luckily, he wasn’t the first one, some random citizen (NPC) or three had gone before him, and in all honesty this was his first time doing coordinator stuff outside of class. He only had one water type, that was his Qwilfish, so why not try it out on a non-for-a-grade level?
Nonetheless, he listened to the annoucer person tell the audience his name and whatnot. All that fun stuff. Grasping the pokeball at his waist, a seal capsule over it. ”Spike, come on out!” A fairly simple array of blue and purple bubbles escaped as Spike was released from his pokeball. When he entered the stage, Spike turned his tiny body to face the sky, and a geyser-like watergun attack shot out of his mouth, and the water sparkled in the sunlight. ”Poison Sting!” He commanded calmly, and several dozen thorn-like needles projected from Spike. The Poison Sting attack collided with the falling water-droplets, causing them to burst into dozens of tiny fireworks-like explosions. Vern then finished, ”Now, Toxic Spikes.” As his final attack for the round, his qwilfish puffed out his body into a balloon,the thorns along his body expanded in what normally would’ve been in a threatening manner –had it been a typical battle- but somehow just made Spike seem utterly adorable. It’s body glowed, and a purple pulse emanted from him, reaching out across the ring in great beams of light, settling down into the ground. The earth in which it’d rested in was now dyed that purple color, creating the ever-so-familiar image of Manaphy for those in the audience to see.
As the audience did it’s usual applauding, the balloon-pokemon jumping up into his arms; Vern bowed, exiting the ring. He’d spotted Miss Annie and Azrael watching, and he found his way over to them, hoping maybe he could spend the rest of the contest with them, or at least just simply people he actually knew. Anello swatted at Lucy's tail, not expecting the shock to come from it. He yelped and darted away from her, hiding behind Nina. Kira, who had noticed the entire thing, gave Anello a look that said, "I told you so!" and rested her head on Tori's leg.
"I'm sure you're right Professor." Tori replied, looking out towards where the contest would be taking place. She didn't have a water Pokemon, so she was unable to enter. "I mean, even the region champions start out in our shoes at some point, right?"
Anello was now trying to get Nina to play, batting at her playfully.
"Kip!"
Tori looked around. She didn't see where the sound came from. Until she turned around and saw the Mudkip she hooked earlier standing behind her. "Oh hey! Professor, you were right! It did follow me!"
She moved her egg off of her lap and picked up the Mudkip, turning back around. "See? It even let me pick it up!" She held out the Mudkip for the professor to see.
