Mortals -
-Humans: Just your average, ordinary, everyday, non-magical humans.
-Shapeshifters: They hagve the ability to shift into one of four animal forms, and unlike the lycans, they do not have to wait for the full moon to do so. However, unlike the lycans and vampires, they cannot "turn" others into one of them. One must be born a shape-shifter to be one. There are not as many shifters as there are lycans and vampires, because of that. The only way to tell a shifter wolf from a lycan is when they are in their human forms. Every shape-shifter has a paw-print shaped birth mark, which tells what animal they shift into. Also, unlike the vamps and lycans, they are mortal.
Semi-Immortals -
-Lycanthropes:They have the ability to shift into a wolf form, though only the originals (and those related by blood) have the ability to shift any time other than the full moon. They do not become raging beasts on the night of the full moon, and they don't even *have* to shift into their wolf form when the full moon comes, it just gives them the ability to do so. Most lycans choose to live in packs, and when the full moon comes, they all shift together and spend the night doing wolfish things. Lycans have extended lives, though they are not immortal. No one knows how long a Lycan can actually live, though, as the originals are still alive.
-Wytches: You guessed it. Humans with the ability to use magic. Difference is, Wytches have a semi-immortality that humans don't. Their magic comes from an internal source of energy (the size/ammount of which is based on several factors) that they tap into. This feat is something that can either be learned naturally or something that has to be taught. If a wytch taps into his or her power naturally, they must seek training immediately. If they do not, the power will consume them, drive them mad, and ultimately destroy not only them, but what/whoever is around them.
Their magic can be released mentally, vocally (speaking a word or spell), through their hands, via an instrument, or through a ritual. It all depends on the wytch, and the situation. Naturally rituals/chanting/spells, etc will strengthen the magic that is being used. Offensive magic has a range of line of sight (including peripheral vision), while defensive magic (i.e. protection spells) can cover a range of 5 miles. The more wytches that add to a defensive spell, the stronger the spell will be. Offensive magic saps the energy, and magic, of the wytch, but defensive magic, when done properly, draws energy and magic from nature. (However, a wytch must tap into his or her internal magic to begin the defensive magic by connecting to the magic in nature.) Magic that does not fall under the category of "offensive" or of "defensive" will come from the wytch's internal supply. Their internal magical energy can be restored to what it was before they used magic. This is done by resting and using resotrative potions/tonics. As the wytch grows, both in age and experience, their magical energy will increase in size. If a wytch were to deplete their internal magic, chances are that they would die. However, if a wytch were to deplete their internal magic and live, the chances of said magic ever being restored would be very slim.
-Somati: Incubus demons who, when appearing as humans, are considered to be the epitome of male perfection. Sex is both what drives and empowers them; if they go too long without it, they enter a crazed state wherein they will rape any female within range of them until their body is sated and they can return to their normal selves. They have markings up the right side of their torso, which tell of their paternal lineage. The more markings on a male, the longer their particular line has been around. These markings are also status symbols amongst their species. They are a rare breed of incubus in that, unless mixed with a human, they always produce pure-blood, male offspring. There are no known female Somati in existance, not even half-breeds. If they can find a willing female, they can take a mate, which will help to lessen their sex drive, and will always provide them with a female when the need arises. They lose any sex drive when it comes to females that are not their mate, so they must be careful when chosing a mate, as she must always be willing to give sex when the Somati needs it. In order to bond a Somati and female as mates, the female cannot be human, and the two must make a blood-exchange in which they each ingest a small amount of the other's blood.
-Aesthyr: Succubus demons. Like the Somati, when they appear in human form, they are considered to be the epitome of female perfection. It is nearly impossible to find a plain Aesthyr, and even less possible to find one that is ugly. They too survive on sex (well, along with other, actually nurishing items,) but they don't typically have to resort to rape, as they're beautiful women and can easily seduce the males of most species. Unlike Somati, they cannot breed with humans. However, like the Somati, they always produce pure-blood female offspring, unless they breed with a Somati; which has never happened before, so no one knows what the actual result would be.
Immortals -
-Vampyres: Immortal beings who are unable to walk in the sunlight, and must drink the blood of others for sustenance. Sunlight will not kill them instantly, but if they are to spend to long it it, it will essentially dehydrate their bodies. Fresh donations of blood would be able to bring them back to "health", but if they spent more than a few hours in the sunlight, without blood, their body would begin to rapidly decay.
-Blood Daemons: Yes they are immortal, yes they survive on blood. However, unlike the Vampyres, the sunlight does not effect them. They are human in appearance.
-Spirit Daemons: The same thing as Blood Daemons, only instead of surviving on blood, they survive on souls. They are also human in appearance, however if they don't get the souls they need to survive, their body will start to decay.
-Yobalats: Rare, flesh-eating demons. In their demon form they have large bat-like wings, several rows of razor sharp teeth, eyes that glow a sickly yellow, and clawed hands and feet. It is not uncommon to see a yobalat demon, when he/she is not in human form, that is missing an eye or some other appendage, and has maggots crawling in that wound. Like it said above, their flesh-eating demons. Yes, that means that they will attack one another, or even eat bits of themselves to get what they eat.
-Dragons: They breathe fire, they can fly, and communicate telepathically. They have an innate magic that is larger and more powerful than any other creature in existance, but which they cannot manipulate the way other innately magical beings can for a very long time. Only the oldest dragons can manipulate their innate magic with ease. Dragons less than three thousand years of age are considered young. Those less than five hundred years of age are considered to be infants/children, as dragons cannot mate until they reach five hundred years. Despite this, the dragon population continues to flourish at a steady rate. Dragons are typically found in the Saneim Mountain range or the Anecyn Desert in this land. The knowledge of their ability to turn human is not wide-spread. Some will occasionally choose to take human form and socialize with other humans (or humanoids such as the case may be), but for the most part dragons stick to what they know best, which is being dragons. Dragons, contrary to popular belief, do mate for life. Once they reach maturity, female dragons can breed every two years, as the first two years are essential to the baby dragons. Most young dragons will stay with their parents until they mature, which can often times lead to rather large dragon nests.
-Draik Wytches: Dragon/Wytch hybrids. Yeah, I'm sure your first thought is: How? Well, there's a very simple answer to that; dragons can take human form. Something that basically nobody knows, which is why pretty much no one knows how Draik Wytches came to be. In their natural form they have wings and claws (as well as horns if they are male,) but the rest of them is human in appearance. They can take the form of a small dragon, and they can also take on an actual human form. Like both of their parents, they are innately magical. Like their wytch parents, and the older versions of their dragon parents, they can manipulate that magic. It is very rare for a wytch and a dragon to become mates, though it happens occassionally, so there are very few draik wytches in existance.
-Hellhounds: Demonic wolf-dog type creatures. They were sent to the banishment plane with the other demons, and it's just as well, because they're as evil as a diablo. They are not exactly pretty to look at, infact most people who saw one would cringe. Hellhounds, like yobalats, survive on flesh. They also, however, have a tendency to torture their "food" by repeatedly raping it before they kill it. They can also keep their prey alive as long as they wish before finally eating it.
Gods: We all know what they are. However, they are NPCs that are only allowed to be used for lineage. You may choose a god/goddess from any of the ancient pantheons (E.g: Greek, Egyptian, Celtic, etc..) to use in your characters lineage, but if there are too many characters with "divine blood" I will ask you to change it when you send in your profile.
