So as you all might know PS Vita is getting it's own Silent Hill, but there is a catch. It will be a spin off from the original series.
The game will focus on Co-operative Multiplayer Action instead of the traditional Psychological Horror.
This game seems to be getting a lot of bad feedback. It is a spin off so I dont understand why people are freaking out.
I plan on getting this title as soon as its released. How about you guys?

I never have played a silent hill game before. Would it be a bad idea to start with this one???

This depends are different curcumstances. If this different approach is horrible, it might ruin the series for you and turn you off from wanted to see thee original series.

The Silent Hill: Book of Memories is going to be a Dungeon Crawler type game kinda like the idea of Diablo. It's the first of its kind for the series. I believe all of the other ones are third person shooters.

I'm glad you told me, cause I was going to buy it blindly without looking at reviews or game play.

I think we can all safety assume that the Silent Hill Series will be changing is some very big ways soon. After what happened with Resident Evil, it doesn't really shock me much.
Resident evil was a very popular horror/survival game franchise and many people will argue that in some ways it was by far a better series then Silent Hill was. Sadly, resident evil will no longer be a survival/ horror franchise anymore. It will now be focusing on becoming a game similar to COD with many horror elements and survival elements.
When they were asked why they decided to go with this new approach, one of there guys replied that it was because survival/horror games are no longer making companies any money. Basically he said that since there are so many people playing COD now, all the money in games for survival horror has diminished.
Now my guess here, is that since Resident evil realized there is no money for its franchise anymore, Konami probably realized that this was happening as well. Therefore, instead of going with a more shooter type approach which appeals to one kind of gaming market, they went with a different approach and made it a game that targets people who like games that are dungeon crawlers.
When you think about this, it sucks, yes i agree. Then again, they are simply trying to make sure that the series can survive in some way and continue to make the company a profit. Before you say that this makes them sell outs, ask yourself if you would continue funding a video game series if it was making no money and was still costing you the same amount of $$$ to create. The answer would more then likely be, no. This being because without making any profit, your company can go into financial problems.
The main reason for a business is for creating a product that will sell and make profit. If your not making a profit, your basically just selling your stuff for free.
I will personally be buying this game because dungeon crawlers are one of my favorite types of games, and I have always wanted to try playing a Silent Hill game with the ability to have other people with me helping with quests.

Its really not a bad PSV title, I really enjoy the way the interpret the Silent Hill universe into a dungeon crawler. Too bad multiplayer is as dead as the RE franchise :/.

I just started playing Book of Memories, does anyone still play? I wouldn't mind playing with friends on there, but I don't know anyone who does.
