A group of adventurers, known as 'The Crawlers' make their living from going into dungeons, crypts and caves and finding items people have lost or just want to find, but don't want to endanger themselves doing it. The Crawlers are happy to, though generally charge a decent amount to get the job done.
If you want to join, look for the rolling thread for character profiles and instructions on creating a character.

Krunk sat with Elmyria in one of their favourite inns. The keeper didn't mind them, even though they were probably the oddest pair in the place and tended to either scare people from sitting too close or have them pick a fight with Krunk randomly. For some reason, they thought that he might be an easy person to fight.
The half-orc looked at the elf as she sorted through the mail. For some reason, people thought that they were really good at their job and sent them the funny pieces of paper with requests on them. He couldn't read, so he didn't really care, but he could count, and usually did, because people had a tendency to try and underpay what they promised.

Elmyria paused at a letter that offered more gold than the rest and read it out to Krunk.
"This one seems the best of the brunch. To the people know as the crawlers. I write this letter to you in the hopes that an offer of a thousand gold a head will temp you to help me. Recently a horde a goblins overcame a group of my men at arms that were escorting a valuable necklace that is my wedding gift to my lady. Unfortunately her father will not let me wed her until the jewel is around her neck May the gods be kind to you. Lord Jackson Colfer.”
She held out a picture that had been included of the necklace. A thin gold chain held a pendent of diamonds and pearls set to look like flowers.
“The goblin horde is set up in the black mountains not to far from here too. What do you say?”

Krunk grinned. Goblins were easy prey and it had been a while since he'd snuck up on one and brained it with his axe.
"I'm in," he rumbled in his deep voice. "Any chance to brain goblins and earn some easy gold." Looking at the letter and squinting, he gave up and looked at the necklace. "How about we start in the morning, considering it's already late?"
He glanced outside to see the street lit with torches and people walking with the end of day lethargy that affected most.

Elmyria stood and stretched. “Indeed the morning is soon enough. I'll met you back here at breakfast we can eat and then make our way out of here. Good night.”
She made her way up stairs to her room and got ready for bed, which only entailed taking off her soft leather boots. She had learned the hard way to always be ready to leave not matter the time, otherwise you might haft to leave important things behind... like your clothing.
The next day she went down early to bath and start breakfast, because she didn't eat meat she had to be there early or the small amounts of berries and fruits would be gone.

Krunk nodded to Elmyria, but stayed up drinking for a while. The innkeeper appreciated the business, because he was a repeat customer and always paid his tab.
Going to bed later, he chugged down an entire pitcher of water, took off his boots and armor before falling asleep quickly.
He awoke in the morning, glad for his orcish side and it's ability to hold alcohol. Pulling on his boots and armor, he made his way down to find Elmyria already eating. He scoffed at her before sinking his teeth into some sausages and gravy, washing it down with more beer.
"Ready?" he asked, lifting his weapon and pack to show he was ready.

Elmyria gestured to her pack leaning against the wall and grabbed it. After checking there rooms to make sure they had left nothing behind she walked out of the inn just behind Krunk.

Trekking through the foothills and through the low lying foliage, they made good time to the black mountains. Krunk knew where the likely goblin horde was, so headed south, looking for tracks.
Within minutes of getting to the attack site, he had found where the goblins had gone. There was a pair of prints with them that were bigger and deeper, but that never really worried him as long as he had his sword.
"Hey, found them," Krunk said to Elmyria. "See, over here."

Elmyria couldn't see the tracks that the half orc pointed to but trusted him without hesitation.
They had been an adventuring duo for almost five years now. Ever since he had found her deep in the woods alone and living off the land after she had run away from home. She had been born to a noble family, her father was cousin to the high king himself. However as she had grown up she had more interested in archery and becoming part of the kings guard than lady like things like sowing and how to run a household. After a very loud discussion about how they each viewed her future she had run away and never looked back.
Krunk and her made a odd group she knew but after so long they had become good friends that knew each others strengths and weaknesses and covered for each other.
“Now that we have the tracks we should be able to move faster, once you think we're in range I’ll move ahead and do some recon.”

"Agreed," he said, knowing full well that she could sneak much better than he could. "They made no attempt to hide their tracks, so won't be hard to follow them."
He could almost see the battle too. A guard here, goblin there. Scavengers moving in afterwards. "There is another pair of tracks with the goblins that doesn't make sense. They're heavier and bigger, bigger than an Orc or hobgoblin. Sort of like an ogre, but not as heavy."
Krunks half-Orc parents had been adventurers before him and didn't really stop after he was born. He clung to his mothers back while she called down holy fire and his father slaughtered many with his great sword, the very one across his back now. It was tragic, but he had lost both parents on and adventure, but he got out alive. He didn't mind too much, they'd taught him evything and he survived.

"A bigger creature holding the goblin horde together do you think?". Moving lightly she stayed out of the way and observed the area around them, looking for places they could camp or possibly be ambushed at.
Seeing that ahead the path narrowed with two forest covered cliffs on either side she pointed it out to Krunk. “That would be a very good place to set up if you wanted to ambush someone.”

"Two creatures," he muttered as she pointed out the likely ambush spot. Looking up, he quickly formed the same opinion.
"Ok, let's assume that they'd want more loot and will be somewhere in the area. You also need camping ground within a few hours walk from here, or otherwise you'd be too close or too far away from ambush spots."
Looking down the path, he drew his great sword. "Do we want to go trigger any traps?"
((spot dc 30, for now.))

"Why not, it would a shame to let a well laid trap go to waste. I presume that you want to go first?" Elmyria smiled fondly at him well used to his tendenties to simply charge into battle.

Krunk grinned broadly. He was no good at the subtle thing, but triggering traps and laying waste to those who dared to attack him? Easy.
Walking a few steps of Elmyria, they entered the fifteen foot wide passage, weapons in hand. It wasn't long before goblins appeared above them.
~ Initiative rolls. There are 8 goblins, 4 each side of the canyon, 15 foot up. Canyon in 15 foot wide. They're all armed with javelins, and shield and maces. Goblins initiative is 11 AC 14 while throwing javelins, 15 while armed with shield. HP 9 each ~ Walls climb check DC 15. Will take 2 turns to climb at normal speed, one at fast climbing, but DC is 20 for fast climb. Fail by up to 4, you make no progress. Fail by 5 or more, you fall.

"I'll stay down here and shoot at them while you close in up the top" Elmyria grabbed a arrow from her quiver as she spoke.
