 Rosemarie was walking through the forest, her nose twitching as she tried to find something to eat. She padded as quietly as she could, not wanting to alert any potential prey of her presence. She sniffed the air, smelling the pine smell of some of the evergreen trees that towered over her head. She continued walking, hoping she would catch wind of some kind of delicious morsel. She mouth salivated as she thought about what she could be eating and she licked her chops. Soon a smell filled her nostrils, that of a deer and she thought she could handle getting it. She stalked in the direction she could smell the deer, her blue eyes intense on the area in front of her. The closer to the deer she got, the hungrier she became.

 Rayden was crouched down well below the tall grass, his wings tucked back behind him. His pink eyes focused intently on a deer just twenty feet or so away from him. He watched as it ate grass. He took a few steps closer to the deer. It heard him and quickly lifted its head with its ears raised and looked around. He instantly froze and hoped it would not see him. He waited several moments until the deer decided there was no threat and continued eating. He crept closer, moving swiftly and quietly towards his prey. He lifted his head and ran full speed towards the deer. The deer took off in an instant, but Rayden spread his wings and lept into the air. He glided through the air over the deer and came quickly down upon it. He sank his teeth into the deer and took it down.
Rayden laid down next to his meal, and rested a moment. The chase had worn him out. He took a bite, and enjoyed his catch for awhile. The wind blew gently cooling him off. With the breeze, he had caught an unfamiliar scent to him. He stood back up and looked around to see if he could figure out what it was.

Rosemarie continued her quest towards the deer, when a different smell mixed in with the smell of the deer. Could it be someone beat her to the catch? She padded forward, ready to defend herself, if it had to come to that at all. Her blue eyes were cautious, trying to make sure she was not ambushed by whatever she was smelling.
She was soon in the area she had smelt the deer and saw the deer on its side. She also saw a dark colored wolf and this caused the fur on her back to stand up straight. A growl escaped her muzzle, wondering who this wolf was and if he was a threat.

Rayden saw a pink wolf heading towards him. He sighed relieved that it was just another wolf. As the wolf got closer, he had realized it was a female. She had beautiful and vibrant blue eyes, and he caught himself mesmerized by them. As he heard her growl however, he snapped out of it quickly and realize that she however did not seem to share his feelings of relief. She growled at him and he was taken aback. He tucked his wings up behind him to make himself appear smaller and less threatening to her. He gently and slowly approached her.
"I mean you no harm, miss", Rayden told her softly. He smiled warmly at her, hoping it would soothe her and convince her that he was no thread to her.

Rosemarie watched as the other wolf folded his wings and was a little caught off guard as he spoke so soothingly to her. She saw him smile and she started to feel a little weak in the knees, his voice having a gentle nature to it. She felt the hairs on her back relax and she padded forward, her head tilted to the side. She took a close look at him and seemed to marvel at his wings that looked so wonderful. She looked into his eyes and felt like she could stare at them forever. Then she remembered the matter at hand and quickly shook herself out of her daydream.
"Forgive me, it is just that even wolves have ambushed me and tried to hurt me when I have come upon them eating. I guess I was just worried you were one of those kinds and I was ready to defend myself,"she explained to him.

"Ah", Rayden replied nodding. He knew just how rough these woods could be, especially for a female out on her own. There were a few lone males out and about causing a lot of grief to weaker wolves than themselves. Their favorite thing to do was to take off with another wolf's catch. They had tried to approach Rayden as well, but he was a rather large and muscular wolf, and with his wings, he was easily able to move around to fight them off.
"I really hope you are not out here alone, you know. It's not safe right now with the food shortage in this area. Were you with someone out here or alone?"

Rosemarie looked a little uncomfortable as the male wolf asked her if she was out here with someone or on her own. She looked down at the ground for a moment, letting a soft sigh escape her lips. She then looked back up at him, shame on her face about what she was about to tell him.
"Unfortunately, I am alone, I am not out here with anyone. I kind of am a loner, not by choice, but because I was separated from my family a long time ago. I don't know what happened to any of them when we were scattered by a vicious pack. I tried to find them, but couldn't seem to find them at all. That was a long time ago,"she answered sadly.

Rayden sensed a sadness in her voice, and could tell she was slightly nervous around him.
"I'm very sorry to hear that", he said softly. He had not intended on causing her any sorrow, and felt bad for asking.
"I meant no harm in the question, was merely...making sure you had someone with you to keep you safe out here."
His stomach growled a bit, reminding him his meal was still waiting for him. "Would you like to join me for dinner?", he asked and nodded towards the deer.
"Oh my, sorry, my manners.... My name's Rayden, by the way."

Rosemarie gave a soft smile as he apologized, seeing how truly sorry he was for bringing up a sad memory for her.
"No, no, it is not your fault, you did not know that was why I was out her alone. You just were trying to make sure I was being cared for and I cannot blame you for that. It is very nice to meet you, Rayden, my name is Rosemarie. As for sharing dinner, how can I turn it down?"she laughed lightly, having a very musical laugh. She padded over to where the deer was and started to eat from the side of it.

Rayden smiled, and for some reason was very glad that she had accepted his offer. Perhaps it had been because he had been alone for way too long, and having someone else to talk to was certainly a nice change.
He followed after her to the deer, his tail slightly wagging back and forth. He was still tired from the hunt and was feeling rather lazy, so he laid down next to the deer, and started eating. He couldn't help but to look over at Rose while they ate. Even with the blood from the deer staining her paws and muzzle, she was still one of the prettiest wolves he had seen. The red from the blood somehow made her eyes stand out even more, and once again he found himself lost in them.
Rayden ate until he was full, and then proceeded to clean himself, licking his paws. Neither of them had said much as they ate. He had been starving since it had been a couple days since he had eaten, and judging by her enthusiasm as she ate, he figure she probably hadn't either.
He felt his eyelids getting rather heavy. His belly was full and he was content there. He tried to fight off sleep, since Rose was there, but he could not help it. There under the shade of the warm sun, belly full, he drifted off to sleep.

Rosemarie could sense his eyes on her as she ate and she smiled as she looked up from time to time. Once she had her fill, she sat down and worked on cleaning her paws. She hadn't really known how hungry she was until she started eating her fill of the deer. It had been a few days since she had had a decent meal, with the shortage lately of food. Once she was clean, she looked over to Rayden and noticed he was sound asleep. This caused a smile to appear on her muzzle as she padded over to him and gently licked his cheek. She didn't know why she had done that, but it actually felt right to her. Then she walked over on the other side of the deer and laid down, her head resting on her front paws. Soon, the pink wolf was lost in her own dream world.

Rayden's eyes opened slightly as he woke up to Rose licking his cheek. He felt himself get a little warm and blush as a gentle smile crossed his face. Content, he fell back into a deep sleep again.
He woke up and the sun was barely out of the sky and was slowly rising. The sun was softly shining on Rose. In his sleepy state, he had forgotten she was really there with him. He thought he had only been dreaming her into existence. He had been alone so long without a friend or companion. He really hoped that she would not leave him when she woke up.
He went over to her and gently nudged her with his nose to wake her.

Rosemarie had been sleeping so peacefully when she felt a nose gently poking her awake. She slowly opened her eyes and through her sleepy haze, she could see Rayden standing there. She smiled softly, glad to see that he had not been a figment of her imagination last night. She let a soft yawn escape her lips as she pushed herself up to a seated position.
"Good morning, Rayden! I am glad to see I didn't just create you in my mind last night. I would have been very sad if I had woken up and found out that I had just made you up,"Rosemarie admitted softly. She stretched her paws a little and then looked back at him.

Rayden smiled, quite flattered that she apparently enjoyed waking up to him as much as he had enjoyed waking up to the sight of her.
His stomach was already reminding him that he was hungry again. It had been days since he'd eaten before the previous night, and sharing his catch didn't exactly fill him, though he was more than happy to share with Rose.
Rayden had been traveling, looking for a new home, some place where there was more food available. He figured he should get moving again as soon as possible.
He hesitated. He did not want to leave Rose, but he expected that his journey would be a long one, and the sooner he got moving, the sooner it could end.
He took a deep breath. "Rose...I know we just met and everything, and I understand if you don't want to...but, I was wondering if you might accompany me on my journey? I am looking for a place with more food available, where the wolves aren't so hostile."
"I really don't like the idea of you being out here alone, and I couldn't live with myself if something were to happen to you if I just left you here."

Rosemarie's eyes filled with surprise as she heard Rayden invite her to come with him. She nodded her head to him, absolutely thrilled to accompany him on his journey. She got up and started to pad over to him, motioning for him to lead the way and she would follow.
Six months later....
Rosemarie had to stop as they were continuing their journey, the pink wolf looking simply worn out. She knew they had to keep moving, but she wanted to rest her paws for the moment. A small bulge could be seen where her stomach was and she could feel life growing within. She let out a soft whimper, her feet feeling like they were currently on fire.
"Rayden, I hate to slow us down, but by paws are killing me,"Rosemarie told the other gently.
