Alright my lovelies. Tell me what are your favorite and least favorite Zelda games, and why.
Here are mine:
>> 1. Skyward Sword
My god. I just cannot find the words to describe this game, other than I ******** loved it. I thought the story was incredible and the most developed story in the Zelda series to date. It was interesting to find out why the Hylians are the closest race to the gods and why they are their chosen people to inherit the Triforce, apart from other humans. They are literally blood-related to Hylia, the Goddess who protected them from Demise and the Triforce, and why the land of Hyrule is called Hyrule. (Hylia Rules = Hyrule). Not to mention Zelda herself is a nicely developed character in this game--unlike her flat personalities in some earlier titles. (Though she has been getting more personality and character since the Wind Waker.) Zelda is reminiscent of the Christ Archetype. She's almost a christ figure. Though she does not carry the entire burdens of the people and their sins, she does sacrifice herself, gives up her divinity and saves the people she loves. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the game--learning she is Hylia and did what she did.
The dialogue in the game was some of the best I've read in a while. It wasn't awkward or almost...out of place like earlier games. As well the game was emotionally charged. I felt a bit sad when Zelda and Link were reunited for the first time in the Temple of Hylia. It was a bit heart breaking having Link c**k-blocked the moment his romantic goddess meets him and seals herself away.
Although Ocarina of Time is actually one of my least favorites, I enjoyed seeing the references to the game. Such as the Sages' emblems on the domed roof of the Temple of Hylia. I got chills when Demise placed the curse on Link and Zelda, which is why all the other games happened and why Ganondorf exists. He is the physical manifestation of Demise's hatred.
The music was ******** great for me. Though Koji Kondo didn't compose any of the music (except for the Ballad of the Goddess) I enjoyed all of it. Especially the Faron woods and the Sand Sea. ; A ;
The only thing I have to say about the gameplay: It was ******** awesome and fun. It was refreshing.
Groose. 'Nuff said.
No onto the things I disliked about Skyward Sword. It made Zelda lore even more confusing. Is the Silent Realm the Sacred Realm? What about the Occoa? TP stated they were closer to the gods than the Hylians, yet are no where seen in SS. I wanted to learn more about the Sheikah, and not just see Sheik. Are the other humanoid tribes, such as the Kokiri, Gerudo, and such descended from Hylians? Earlier games state that the Master Sword was crafted by the Sages, yet SS says that Hylia was the one who created the Master Sword.
I disliked the size of the world in Skyward Sword. Compared to previous Zelda games, it was small. I would have liked a bigger areas and more chances to actually explore, plunder, monster hunt, etc.
The upgrading system was nice, but I felt it could have been implemented a bit more better. As well some of the materials were a b***h to obtain.
Again no ******** magic bar. When was the last time Link was able to use magic, Wind Waker? I miss magic.
>> 2. Wind Waker/ Phantom Hourglass/ Spirit Tracks
I loved the Wind Waker. Mainly for the story. A great Kingdom like Hyrule was flooded because of OOT Zelda's blunder. If you were to analyze Wind Waker, it's actually a pretty dark game, though not as dark as Majora's Mask, it is dark. You have an ancient Kingdom beneath the waves, a whole bunch of islands on an ocean no one has fully explored or charted, a fishless sea (except the merman), and Link. A 12 year old boy who journeys across a dangerous ocean to rescue his sister, and comes across a Kingdom of regrets and lost hope. Man, he's a trooper.
Unlike SS, Wind Waker's world was huge. It had that feel of raw adventure which I loved. Coming across a random island, you hop off your boat, and you begin to explore whatever is on that piece of s**t island.
The graphic style of Wind Waker is one of my favorites. Although many people disliked the cel-shaded graphics, I loved them and thought they were refreshing.
Phantom Hourglass had an okay story. I just really loved the gameplay and of course: Linebeck.
A bit same for Spirit Tracks. At the time I thought ST was one of the most challenging Zelda games to date. Personally I felt Zelda games were becoming easier over the years, and I often did get stuck on ST. Whether it was a puzzle or gameplay.
>> 3. Link to the Past
What can I say? It was my first Zelda game, and playing it again lately, I feel like it had that old fantasy feel to it. You have your standard quest in which a Hero sets out to save the damsal in distress and overcomes many trials and tribulations.
Not to mention awesome lore and the a parallel world of hyrule that was connected to it.
>> Four Swords Adventures
Multiplayer Zelda. 'Nuff said.
Least favorites.
>> 1. Adventure of Link
The game was frustrating. Extremely frustrating. I just disliked it.
>> Ocarina of Time
Yes, hate me. Ocarina of Time was actually one of my least favorites. I respect it because it's a Zelda game, was the first 3-d Zelda game, and so on.
Though I found the story a bit lacking, dull character developments, and crappy dialogue.
The only thing I enjoyed about it were the short poems by Sheik, the Ocarina Songs, and Malon's rocking body.

I have three favorites that share the top tier in my heart. Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker.
Skyward Sword is breathtakingly beautiful. It's a work of art. The pinnacle masterpiece, in my opinion, of the entire Legend of Zelda series (now, now, OoT fans, don't get all butthurt on me, but essentially the timeless masterpiece factor is all OoT has left as an outstanding characteristic - every subsequent game was made to follow in its footsteps and eventually break the high standard it created, which SS has well and thoroughly done). SS is dear to me also because it seems to draw from the best of both worlds of TP and WW. <3
The story, the characters (Link TALKS! ;D), the background explanations we've all been waiting for, the art, the music. It's whimsical, it's glorious, it's outstandingly fun. Everything is carefully woven into the incredible tapestry that is this game; nothing is overdone or unnecessary. For their first implementation into a Zelda game, the motion plus controls were almost perfect and very, very fun ;D (Skyward Strikes are the best sword beams in Zelda EVAR). Fi is my favorite guide, and I loved her connection to the sword and how we literally got to forge the Master Sword itself. Item system re-haul was very well done (loved the feeling of forging and upgrading my own gear). Also, SILENT REALMS FTW x10!!!!!! 8D 8D There are some points I feel it could improve upon or have added; for example, I feel J's indignation at the lack of magic as a resource. Would also agree that the general overworld was a bit small and relatively less interesting. I also would have enjoyed Link getting opportunities for changes in outfit too (Y U NO GIVE US MAGIC ARMOR OR ZORA OR GORON TUNICS, ETC, NEENTENDO?). The earrings upgrade was pretty damn cool though, no other Zelda has done anything spiffy with Link's earrings. The bug collecting was fun too. xD
But why on earth couldn't Link just jump off any edge of Skyloft and call his Loftwing? Wouldn't the whole purpose of having a giant bird at your command to catch you and fly you around eliminate any need to be rescued by some knight bent on giving you a lecture worthy of the maternal class? I thought that was completely ridiculous. At night, I could understand, since we apparently never get headlight privileges (D:<), but during the day too? Tad irritating, that was.
Final boss fight with Demise was insanely exciting but a bit of a let-down, time-wise. It took me like five minutes and I beat him first try (granted my brother was shouting advice to me and cheering me on the whole time). Overall I felt like it was over too fast, even after having fought Ghirahim. The whole ending was amazing though.
Twilight Princess is everything I ever wanted in a classic 3D Zelda. The visuals and overall essence of the game is darker and relatively more sophisticated and mature - a very different feel from WW and SS. The art style was realistic yet imaginatively flexible, the dungeons were classically traditional and very well executed (though sometimes lacking in the "challenge" department...), and the characters were relatively more highly developed and variously designed. The music was some of the best of the whole series, with effective emotional injections and original compositions that built off of classic themes from many previous games.
Swimming with the Zora tunic was fantastic. Better than Skyward's version of swimming, imo (I didn't like the Wiimote-controlled steerage so much, tbh). LOVED the Twilight realm (Silent Realms win in my heart, though). Being a wolf was freaking awesome, and the teleportation systems were well-implemented. After Fi, Midna is one my personal favorite companions. Her character design and backstory are fantastic. TP also featured lots of intricate details that added to the polished grandeur of the gameplay. The swordplay (with Link's awesome sheathing technique), the expansive overworld and all of the little nooks and crannies it hid, the different towns and interactive areas, etc. TP is for me the best land-locked Zelda game in terms of the overworld setup.
Twilight's end-game boss fight with Ganondorf is my favorite battle sequence of any Zelda game period. It was brilliantly executed, Zelda's light arrows as a resource was well-implemented and relatively easy to utilize, and the final sword fight was raw, powerful and took time and patience. In essence I felt much more satisfaction with finishing off Ganondorf than I did Demise.
Wind Waker was and is my Ocarina of Time, per se. It was the game that got me irreversibly hooked on the Legend of Zelda series. The art style was beautifully rendered and stylized very creatively in a way that was very compatible with the gameplay. I love Link's characterization ("come on!!" xD so cute). The story is amazingly creative and full of unexpected turnouts and connections, and the last dungeon (i.e. Ganondorf's castle) made great references to Ocarina of Time's final dungeon. The overworld is large and excitingly innovative, with a huge exploration variable.
The colors and the music, the general ambiance of the game, plus the little details that make it so much fun, come together to create a whimsical but yet appropriately serious masterpiece, if that makes any sense. The items are fun yet classic and the gameplay is fluid and exciting. Zelda's role in the game is unique and unexpected, as are the mysteries of Hyrule and the King of Red Lions. I love the character interactions, getting to literally work with and "throw around" the sages Medli and Makar was a lot of fun; their roles also served as a sort of precursor to what we got to do in SS, since they help us reawaken the Master Sword!
I wish WW's sequels had been as epic...Phantom Hourglass was interesting, and the DS styled gameplay was well done as well as the map functions, but I didn't like the game that much (it goes on my "least favs" list I suppose). Spirit Tracks was better overall but still not as awesome as WW (I still have to finish it...I guess I'm not a huge fan of the whole "let's work on this main temple in parts" format). That goddamn Temple of the Ocean King, I still have freaking nightmares. And not from the Phantoms, mind you, oh no, just from that convoluted son of a b***h structure that was the makeup of that temple (NINTENDO Y U MAKE US GO THROUGH EVERY OLD AREA EVERY TIME WE HAVE TO GO THERE?!). Bellum was a frustrating final boss, too. At least the ending was kind of fun xD.
I don't really have any other least favorite Zelda games, I guess....I still have to actually play some of the older ones. I'm definitely not as into the 2D Zelda games as much as I am the 3D home console ones (i.e. OoT and onward). Minish Cap, however, is 2D yet is right up there under 1) SS/WW/TP and 2) OoT on my top faves list, so there you are. I'm sure when I finally make myself attempt a playthrough of Zelda II I will come to know it as my least favorite game of the whole series just as most other Zelda fans seem to conclude. xDD
Whew. There you go I guess. LOL

I LOVE love Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. :3 I just feel that the storylines grip you and bring you into the game. You get attached to the characters, and not to mention the amazing graphics! Skyward sword is, like you mentioned, a great mix of Twilight Princess and Windwaker. The cartoonie graphics and humor, yet the character designs and emotion of Twilight Princess. smile
My least favorite? I dunno if i have too many, but i didn't like the difficulty level of Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask. It was a good game, but it scared me half the time and frustrated me XDD But hey, it brings back some good memories of classic Nintendo!

Favourite Majora's Mask. I bawl my eyes out all the time (seriously, Anju and Kafei's wedding, I'm nothing but waterworks), but I guess the challenge of "you have three days, so ******** you" is what gets me. Plus, dat guilded sword.
Least Zelda II. How my dad does it, I have no idea. I've attempted the game numerous times and cannot seem to get anywhere without getting lost.
My dad, however, he's beaten it every summer and claims it to be one of his favourite Zelda games. Proof he's ******** nuts, right there guys.

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are my two absolute favourites. Skyward Sword I enjoyed but the infuriating controls took away a lot of the enjoyment for me.

my overall favorite is the Twilight Princess. I absolutely LOVE the graphics if anything and the fact that I can turn wolf..... then after that I like Skyward Sword. I don't know what about that game I liked, but I just like it. Ocarina of Time, even though I don't like doing the adult link dungeons, I just love it. And the Wind Waker because, well, I like it. I really enjoy the pictograph quest where you go take pictures to turn into statues.
Then my least favorites are Majora's Mask, that was frustrating me although I LOVE the fierce deity mask o3ob and I don't like the first 2 games. The first Zelda game was difficult for me oddly enough and Zelda II....... I didn't know what I was doing. But...yeah...
