Ritsu Izumi is an older teenager, suffering from a case of selective amnesia. She doesn't know for sure if she's completely human, for one. Or more like, she believes that she is. If there's anything else there, which she's found subtle hint to only, then it seems to be completely dormant with little knowledge of whether it can wake or not. This does mean she's at least aware that humans aren't the only ones who inhabit the Earth, and she knows magic exists, though she can barely use it herself.
There's a whole part of her life her amnesia hits at. She can't remember anything from when she was nine years old, all the way to the age of fourteen. So five years, that for some reason, she just can't remember at all, not even vague recollections. It's unknown to her if this was her own head that caused this, or was done to her by someone else.
From when she was nine to fourteen, Ritsu was the subject of study for scientifically significant magical study. Ritsu herself as actually quite the genius, though she tends to keep it low key and doesn't like mentioning it due to the change of treatment she gets when she mentions it to others. Apparently, Ritsu was not born a human. Whatever she was though, caught tine interest of scientists in both human science, and magical science, and after her father's death, her mother was bribed with an insurmountable amount of money to give her to research for a short amount of time. Five years, she was studied and experimented on. It is unknown just what was done to her during this time or if it's had any effect on her behavior or DNA. There are only a few hints, and these hints she's not even aware of, mostly because teh main disclaimer to anyone who meets Ritsu, is that whatever abnormal things happen to her, they are bound by law to never tell her about it. The amnesia seems to have taken away any memory of her time taken for experimentation, as well as what she truly is, if not human. For whatever reasons is left unknown at the moment, but one could only speculate why a girl would have to be drained of any memory as to what she is.
Personality:
Ritsu is a laid-back and adaptable girl. While she has a tempter that bites back hard when provoked, she's mostly friendly, and open to other people that she sees aren't trouble. Protective and mildly driven, otherwise, she does have bouts when she just wants to laze about or think to herself. She reflects, and when she does, it's quiet and she tends to space very easily, which goes along with her slight confusion over not being able to remember a huge chuck of her own life for some reason.
She's an artist as well, seeing art in all sorts of her surroundings and her own emotions. She sees music as additional inspiration, a bit addicted to it herself, but she finds music an easier means of concentration when she's working on something. Ritsu does tend to surprise when she becomes thoughtful or insightful about something, and she is uncharacteristically shy and unnerved by close emotional things like romance and crushes.
Another part of her behavior is the only hint as to what might be wrong with her or altered, or maybe what she is. It may be part of the completely dormant side of her, but when certain conditions are met (listed in other section), she loses control of herself. She literally becomes like a whole different entity, her eyes seem to lose the shine a normal human's has, and she doesn't speak at all, which means there is no voice confirmation to see if the tone of voice changes as well. But she becomes defensive, seems to have battle knowledge that the normal Ritsu wouldn't have otherwise, and demon-sharpened senses and strength, despite the fact her aura or scent never actually changes to that of a demon's.

Practices Drawing and bass guitar in her spare time. She gets unnerved when people take her glasses from her, see her without them, or takes her mp3 player from her.
In order for the mysterious other half of Ritsu to rise, conditions usually have to be present. Usually not all of them at once either:
-Full moons are a particular issue for her, she seems more edgy during full moons. Thus her defensive other half may rise more.
-Lethal endangerment to her own well being or someone close to her. Think of maybe a defense mechanism.
-Torture. It seems being prodded and pushed against her will connects to her lost memories.
-Hand in hand with the aforementioned torture situation, specific triggers may push a change. She keeps out of scientific settings, such as real labs and similar settings.
Description of her Dormant Side
Mixture of Phoenix and Fallen
Fallen: A fallen demon. Usually a term used with higher tier creatures and demons, such as angels, dragons, deities, etc. In Ritsu's case, a phoenix spirit. Fallen status among higher beings results in stripping of some abilities held before. Ritsu as a Fallen Phoenix spirit isn't immortal like higher phoenixes are known to be, and she's been stripped of her more area-wide S class powers and her immortality. Fallen status is also the explanation behind her being part human, it is believed by those who studied her that when she as a higher phoenix had done whatever it was that it did to become a fallen, she was reincarnated into the body she holds now. However it's also possible that Ritsu isn't the actual reincarnation, because of the fact that the phoenix side has a personality all its own, and merely a vessel sharing its body with the spirit. But this isn't known for sure, Ritsu very well might be the spirit itself.
Higher Phoenix: A Higher Phoenix is, literally, a higher class of phoenix. As related to a regular breed of phoenix, Higher breed can also be any elemental affinity, not just fire. They are also known to be immortal beings, only killed by other creatures on its level, and only pass on naturally when they sacrifice their souls for something. They have incredibly high class magic, and are able to use it when they need it without worrying about seals or restrictions of the like. Only consequence of course, of using their abilities unjustly. Ritsu's phoenix side was a large phoenix, and being Higher, was not a physical bird body, but a condensation of magic. It takes on a large flaming appearance, with red and blue flames both. However after becoming a Fallen and stripped, when Ritsu's other half activates its magic, the fire is merely a black color, including the wings it can summon. But it is revealed that if it has the ability to transform into a full phoenix form (though smaller than the original), its true original colors show.
