Yes? No? Maybe? I love feedback!
I love it! You should put it up.
It's good, but it could use a little more work...
Meh, I guess it's fine... a little less long?
With a lot more work, it might just become interesting.
  Nope, it's terrible. Forget it.

Dear members of the Powerplay RP Guild,

This idea was first introduced in another RP guild that I was in, The Literate Roleplaying Guild (which I advise you all to look into). Personally, I'm very proud of it, although the introductory story is a little long =.=;;... then again, I worked on it for a long time! The layout isn't as pretty as I could've made it, but still, I think it came out well. Anyways, I got a lot of positive feedback despite the fact that the whole thing is so specific when it comes to the characters that I wanted, but I think you guys will like it, too. It's fantasy/adventure, so I think people will like it once I put it up. Feel free to tell me what you think in the poll above, or comment below! Thank you!!!!!

"I saw in imagination a solemn pagan rite: wise elders, seated in a circle, watching a young girl dance herself to death. They were sacrificing her to propitiate the god of spring..."

-- Igor Stravinsky, 1910

[--------------------------------------------------------------------------]

Far away, in a place that you could only imagine in your wildest of dreams, was a land filled with the strangest creatures, creatures that could only have sprung from the mind of a fairytale genius. The most various of races all lived together in harmony, watching as their world, which they had long ago named Aquiline, went through the motions of its endless life. Summer, fall, and winter passed through as they always did, supporting life and heralding death as was their duty. Nothing was ever out of place, every creature and being was satisfied with its life in the hierarchy of their world. This hierarchy was simple: there were the beings that inhabited the rich fields and lush forests of Aquiline, and then there were the human-like creatures that lived above them, in cities and towns of grace and beauty. These Aquilites had their elite rulers, the High Elders, who ensured the safety and peace of their land, reigning justly and virtuously, as they come from a long line of blue-blooded ancestors who aided in the creation of Aquiline.

However, in this perfect world, as is in most, there was a terribly dark side to the utopian society that made its home there. Throughout the year, everything was peaceful and merry, and not a thing was to be cared about. However, upon the arrival of springtime, the entire land held its breath and waited for the Rite of Springtime. The Head Elders met in their chambers to discuss the next execution of this most holy ritual to please the goddess of Spring and appeal to her to give to them a bountiful harvest.

Execution indeed.

As the legend goes, the beautiful goddess once sent her own daughter unto Aquiline to see that all is well with humans and creatures that lived there. While she was there, she was struck down and killed by the arrow of a hunter, who thought her to be a demon creature meant to destroy their harvest with her spells and chants. In fury, the vengeful deity led all of the young women and girls of Aquiline dancing, and charmed them all the way down to the Shari'a river, where they drowned, still dancing, in its raging waters. The goddess took the souls of the young women and crafted them into wind-like spirits that roamed the lands of Aquiline, causing mischief and tempting men into their doom. Now, every year, there is a ceremony where the fateful day is repeated and ingrained into the minds of the young men and women who now go about their lives in the cities and towns of this mystical place. One young woman is selected from the hundreds of thousands of young women in Aquiline to perform this fatal dance and sacrifice her own life for the lives of the other women. There is no possible way of knowing the identity of The Dancer, nor of any of the other participants. Only two have this knowledge: the King of Aquiline and the Aquilinian Oracle, whom no one has seen in over two hundred years...

Our story starts in a time of unrest. Winter is slowly coming to a close, and the search for the Dancer has already begun. The Head Elders have sent out their missionaries, who have begun the journey through Aquiline, hoping to retrieve the girl that would save them all from the wrath of the Spring Goddess with her sacrificial dancing. However, over the last few months, an opposition group has formed in hopes of preventing this massacre. You see, there never is only one Dancer. Sometimes, there are many, many girls whom the missionaries deem worthy, and they are all brought before the King. Those who do not match the identity of the Dancer he had been granted vision of are thrown into a dungeon and eventually die of hunger and thirst, and those who attempt to resist are killed immediately by the missionaries, regardless of who they are.

The goal of the resistance is to journey out to the outskirts of Aquiline and find the Oracle, who will grant them the identity of the Dancer. Once she is found, they plan to help her escape the missionaries and topple the reign of the Head Elders, who over time have become more and more corrupted amongst themselves. In order to meet the challenge of this opposition, the King has sent out his own son, along with his escorts, to put an end to this search and restore the holiness of the Rite of Springtime.

The final question is, who is this dancer? What will happen once she is found? And, most importantly... who will find her first?

Hmmmm... I'm liking it... Long is good, because it explains more. Though, you'll need a more specific plot. I see the overall one, but that can get boring real fast.

Quite good biggrin
I think it could work quite well actually, but I also agree with Rhea.

The things I would also want to know are:
What would our characters consist of, opposition and missionaries? Or just one or the other?
Are we 'human'? Or are the 'strange creatures' playable too?
Does the RP take place in the lands above (on mountains or floating above?) or below in the forests and fields?

Basically, you have a Background story, and quite a good one at that, but you have no setting and plot to point out the facts of the actual gameplay. I'd add that up too if you have it 3nodding

Thank you all so much for the commentary! I realize that the intro wasn't all that specific, but it was just an intro! There's more, and I have to put up the character descriptions, too (it should help clear some things up). I'm just too sick to do anything right now, so bear with me! :3 More to come, and I'm glad you liked it!!!

Well, when you've gotten it all worked out and done, definitely make the rp. I'd be interested.
