Ever heard of Aion?
Well, it's going truly free to play around spring 2012 on both European and North American servers. Want more info? Check it out here: NA/EU. Also, here is the play model from the EU server [details]. While the NA play model has not been released yet, it will most likely resemble the EU model.
But perhaps I should tell you more about Aion itself. Following a PvPvE model, the game offers different regions geared toward each style of play. From the beginning, you pick one of the two Daeva races [lore], either the whte-winged Elyos or the black-winged and furry-backed Asmodians. Next, you pick one of four base classes: mages, scouts, priests, and warriors; once at level ten, you customize your class further by picking a sub class (there are 8 classes in all). From there, players can partake in numerous quests, instances, spy missions, and massive fort sieges. From trying out your stealth mode as an Assassin or trying out your Gladiator's dual-wield skill, each class offers distinct gameplay.

With gameplay conducive to both solo and group play, you'll find yourself immersed in a vividly rendered world. Perhaps the most notable part of Aion is its graphics and its customization. With detailed armor that you can dye or skin, you'll never find yourself stuck in boring old chain mail. And with an extensive character building mode, you'll never find another player who looks just like you. You'll even be able to change your characters wings with different items once you hit level 30! You'll find yourself wondering how an mmo can look this good.

But what's the best part about this free to play? It won't exclude Aion's two expansions: already live 2.5 and the impending near-mythical 3.0 update. Since no new content will be restricted, why not give it a try? Spread your wings and take flight! Or try out the new vehicles and mounts feature, if you'd prefer.
Perhaps you tried Aion in its early phases and just weren't satisfied. You found yourself frustrated with the grind. While Aion is definitely still challenging, it has since been tweaked and fine-tuned so that your playing experience can be the best possible. Drop rates have been increased and new features and dungeons are added with every major update. Crafting constantly has new recipes added, and mini events take place (especially around the holidays!) So try it again. If you hate it, it's not like you'll be paying for it! The Aion community is different from many other popular mmo communities. Most players are experienced and friendly, and the game itself tends to be challenging if you as a player don't use your skills and resources effectively. So go ahead and try it again. See if you like the changes or not.

Do me a favor and don't quote this first post....
